Today was a long and hard day... Normally, Katsuki Bakugou was pumped for days like this, days where he could let loose and show everyone just how good he was at what would be his future job. He'd worked so hard to improve, not just in quirk strength and fighting technique, but even in his ability to talk to other people. Though he was still well known for his explosive personality, he was generally a lot calmer and knew how to talk to people. Admittedly, it was sometimes faked, but part of a hero's job was to be able to convincingly lie so he didn't see the issue. Today though... Today was tough.
He'd felt the stress really mounting recently between fighting real villains regularly through internships, studying, tutoring his pack, leading said pack, looking into future agency applications, helping his pack with theirs, research into what he would need to start his own agency, saving up so he could move out as soon as he graduated so he wouldn't have to go back home, the list went on! All this coupled with the fact he hadn't allowed himself a heat in over six months and hadn't had the time to Drop himself in nearly three months, it was all too much!
He could already feel his drop creeping up on him, he needed to get back up to his room as soon as possible. They had just gotten back to the school and he could feel his psyche holding on by a thread already. Just needed to get to his room. He would be fine if he could just get there. He could lock his door and suffer it out for the rest of the day and be right as rain in the morning. Okay so he would feel like absolute shit in the morning, but at least he would be able to pull his tattered pieces back together enough to move on with his life again.
The trouble was, he was too far gone to keep up with and maintain his usual mask. He'd worked so hard at maintaining it too... He couldn't help it. He was so overstimulated and there was so much pain and suffering just under the surface, he just needed to get away. Normally he would be right there with his pack, praising them for a job well done and soothing their anxieties. It was part of his responsibility as their pack leader to make sure their mental health was taken care of, even if that job mostly fell on the others. The latter fact was the only reason he wasn't pushing himself more to try and do it anyway. Surely they could handle it without him just this once? Surely just once will be okay, right?
It wasn't hard to tell that he was feeling unwell, even by the casual onlooker. He wasn't bothering to get out of his hero costume, he was sweating more than usual, his expression was eerily blank, his ears and tail were drooping, and his skin was pale as a ghost. If all that wasn't enough, he'd left his pack behind to fend for themselves, something that was very unlike him. Pushing his way unsteadily into the common room, he headed straight for the elevators leading to the boy's dorms. Just a little further. Just a little longer and he could suffer in peace. Just a bit further... He could make it... Just a little bit further...
Meanwhile, his pack was doing what it normally did, as he expected, at least at first. "You did so good, Sweety! I know crowds aren't great for you, but you've gotten so good engaging safely, even with them there! I'm so proud of you!" Chirped the pink girl, wings fluttering softly in her excitement. She even took the electric blond's hand in her own while two more arms hugged his, just to give him the extra points of contact. Hero work was stressful for all of them so the extra support was something they all needed from time to time, particularly with their Omega members. While it was true that alphas could drop as well, it was very rare whereas omegas naturally needed to let it all out fairly regularly. "And Eiji! You did so good keeping that the rubble from collapsing so those people could get out in time!" Her final hand reached out to her old friend, resting on his arm and giving it an affectionate squeeze.
Sero on the other hand, which would normally be right there with all the praise and support, wasn't saying much at all. "Bakugou?" He called to the blond pulling further and further from them. This behavior wasn't all that unusual early in their first year, but by now it was very strange indeed. "Hey! Katsuki!" He tried again, but still the kitsune kept right on shuffling away from them. Something was seriously wrong, but he didn't know what. Well, at least it didn't quite make sense, given Bakugou's alpha status. When he'd found out he was good at rescue work, Sero had focused a lot of his efforts into becoming a better rescue hero and that included taking psychology classes as well as first aid. He was even studying to be a fully registered EMT before the end of the school year! Everything was telling him that Bakugou was dropping but... That couldn't be right... Could it? No... No there was no way. But... But all the signs were there though... Could he really be...?
