Home is where the heart is... [Mental Rehab AU] [Kaminari x Shinsou]

Post by NicTheDjinn »

Shinso had been in the mental health rehab center for quite some time, after being transferred there for long term treatment from a mental hospital. And a few months felt like forever, but half a year? Man, it was hard on his mind. This place was supposed to help, but it was just hard on him. But he didn’t act like it was hard on him so he got privileges, like having an iPod, though it was monitored and he could only listen to music or watch stuff on it, and he could only talk to his family. It wasn’t like he had any friends to talk to.

The start of him going to get help was when his adoptive father, Aizawa noticed the bags under his eyes and that he would be awake late at night. Once he realized he had insomnia he tried various sleeping pills and things to help him sleep, but not much helped. And he always ended up staying awake and barely sleeping. And that led to him getting depressed and being awake at night with his thoughts and it spiraled into him starting to hate himself. Then moving onto self harm, but that didn’t last long before Eri noticed and mentioned something to Aizawa.

But honestly, he always struggled with this because people always told him that he had a villain's quirk. To be able to control people after just speaking to them? What a useful quirk for a villain! When he was young he didn’t realize what his quirk could really do, he was too distracted by having friends. But once he realized his quirks effectiveness he deactivated it and everyone grew to hate him, so he grew to hate himself. Shinso controlled people into being his friend. He grew to hate his quirk and hate his voice. So he stopped talking.

He had a long conversation with Aizawa about this and what they should do, and they ended up putting him in a mental hospital. But it didn’t help so he moved onto a longer treatment center and he started to get better. Shinso had established a little life here, he had his own room now and have Aizawa and Eri visit.

Currently, Shinso was walking around the place, earbuds in and looking pretty much like a zombie. He drug his feet as he walked and rubbed at his tired eyes. Shinso knew there would be a new arrival late today, hooray. That meant there would be a group session tomorrow morning where everyone had to introduce themselves again. They would try to force him to talk again. His hands were shoved into the pockets of his hoodie as he walked around the facility. It was a little late at night, he usually did this since he couldn’t sleep. And it kept his mind from wandering as he stared into the dark.

.....

Kaminari Denki had been a happy kid. At least when he was very young. He'd been so excited to develop a quirk like all the other kids had started to, so sure he would get something really cool! When the day finally came, he was so sure he'd been right! It was just a tiny spark, something that could feel tingly or be used as a funny static shock prank, but little more. He worked on training his quirk as best he could on his own, but that in itself was where the issue started. His father was where he'd gotten the quirk from and the man had left them before his quirk ever manifested. He had no mentor. He grew stronger of course, but with it didn't come control. It's not that he sparked randomly, thankfully, but he did have a bad habit of discharging when he experienced extreme emotions. Worse still, if he used his quirk enough, it became so hard to think and that gave the other kids more reason to tease him.

It was just funny at first, but funny escalated into bullying soon enough. To make matters worse, the bullying got violent enough for him to repeatedly go off in self-defense. That was when they grew afraid. He lost most of his friends quickly and the few that stayed didn't have the strength to stay for long. Lonely and anxious, he started to flounder not just socially, but also academically. Desperately he worked on controlling his quirk and though his grades still suffered, he eventually got his quirk mostly under control. It was then, when he was sure he could keep himself in check, that he begged his mother to be transferred to another school.

It was tough being the new kid, but Kaminari had always been a sweet and friendly boy. With no one here aware of how dangerous his quirk could be, he made new friends easily enough and established himself as one of the cooler kids quickly. By the time he'd graduated and started middle school, he was much more confident in himself. Deep down there was always a little worried about his past and certainly worried about seriously hurting someone, but he had his quirk under control! Sort of... He couldn't really control where his quirk went, but he could at least control when it came out. He grew determined to prove himself in fact, that he decided he would definitely be a hero when he grew up!

Everything had been going so well... He was pretty popular, had lots of friends, and felt he had a good chance at getting into U.A.! Not an easy school to get into, needless to say, but go big or go home, right? All his friends seemed to think he could get in, so he was going to go for it! There was only one problem. There was only one kid at his school that knew who he was and had settled firmly in the bully seat. Worse still, he wanted to join the same school. They quickly became rivals, but as he was already scared of the guy, it wasn't a particularly healthy rivalry. The closer they got to the date of the entrance exam, the worse things got. The threats eventually peaked with the guy dragging the blond into a fight he didn't want to get into, particularly with the exam only months away. He'd worked so hard for this, he couldn't miss his chance now!

In the end, the fight had been a far more violent one than either of them had expected. Kaminari came to this realization first as he struggled to limit his quirk through the fear bruised and bloodied. He was knocked to the ground, eyes wide as he watched his bully lift his foot and he realized that his face was the target. Fear for his life finally took him and he dropped the remainder of his electricity all at once. Everything was far away and fuzzy then. He could feel pain and see and hear people around him, but nothing made sense. What was happening? Why did it hurt...? Everything was too much, too fast! He was being touched, carried, where was he being taken?

By the time he'd regained his senses, he slowly realized that he was now in a hospital. In time he found out that he was there not only because of how far he'd pushed himself but for the injuries he'd gotten in the fight itself. He was asked questions and answered them slowly, but truthfully. He found out his rival was in the hospital too and was much worse off. He wasn't dead, but he also wasn't waking up. How...? How could this happen? He'd been so good! He'd done everything he could to get better! Had he not improved at all in the end?! It was hard to stop crying as the self-hatred he'd thought he'd worked out of his system came flooding back.

By the end of the day, he'd been released to his mother and even though he was bandaged up, he was back at school the next day. No one blamed him for what he'd done, they believed him when he'd insisted he'd only acted in self-defense and that he truly feared for his life at the moment. His rival... Well, he wasn't in school. A week later, he still wasn't. Then a month... All the while, life returned to normal and Denki smiled and joked like he always had, but it quietly ate at him. Finally, the boy returned to school, but he wasn't the same. He was... Quiet. He no longer went after Denki at ever chance, didn't so much as talk or look at him. Somehow the peace he'd finally been granted didn't make the blond feel better. Indeed, he felt worse. This wasn't a kid learning his lesson. This was someone fearing him.

He couldn't handle it. He couldn't... He just... Couldn't... He wrote a note, saying how sorry he was and how much he loved everyone. He left it where he knew it would be found, inside the desk of his closest friend. With that, he left the classroom and headed up the stairs. He kept climbing till he reached the exit to the roof. Reaching up into the little box that had half-broken plastic at its front, he pulled out the key and opened the door. Tears were already stinging his eyes as he walked over to the edge, looking up at the fence and down at the ground below. Looking up at the top of the fence he could see the barbed wire. That's fine... It wouldn't matter in the end, right? And so he started to quietly climb as tears trickled from his pretty golden eyes.

What he hadn't expected was for his friend to have returned to class because he'd forgotten something in his desk. He was almost at the top when the door behind him had burst open and the next thing he knew, the boy was using his quirk, a long, sticky tongue, to pull him off the fence. Falling down back onto the roof, he was hurt, as he'd landed badly, but still very much alive. He had a good cry in his terrified friend's arms, been taken to a teacher he had to explain himself, then to the principal, then to his mother. They spoke in a room without him, then he got to go home with Mom. There he was told that he would be taken care of in a hospital for a little while and some of his things were packed. He was far from okay with this. Still, what he'd almost done couldn't be ignored and by that evening he was dragged out of their home, into a car then out into what would be his home 'till he felt better'. What did that even mean?!

"N-no! I don't want to be here! I'm sorry! I won't do it ever again! I promise! Don't make me stay! Mom! Mom, please! Don't leave me here!! Mom! MOM!!!" He was being carried at this point, his quirk sparking wildly. Thankfully, his quirk had been taken into consideration and the man that carried him had skin of stone, immune to his quirk entirely. He sobbed as he struggled, making so much noise and at this time of night! "Mom... Come back! Come back... I'm... Scared..." He was finally losing steam as his mind dulled and with it his struggles lessened till he allowed himself to be carried, even if he was obviously still upset.

.....

When his quirk developed, it was quickly and all at once. Immediately his quirk could let him control people, they’d speak back to him and he could make them do whatever he wanted. And at first, he didn’t know why everyone did what he wanted but in middle school, he came to realize it. Shinso never knew how his quirk was created, he never met his parents. He was immediately put in foster care when he was a kid, and wasn’t allowed to know who his birth parents were or their quirks until he turned eighteen. Once he fully realized it though, in middle school, he dropped his usage of his quirk and everything went to shit. He started learning sign language so he wouldn’t have to speak, maybe then he wouldn’t be able to use his quirk.

Shinso got bullied for it, for everything he did. He didn’t have friends, he only talked when absolutely necessary. And then he met Aizawa, it was a by chance thing, he had come to the school to talk to the students about U.A. While leaving he saw Shinso being bullied by some other students and came to his aid. Not long after, he was adopted by Aizawa. Along with a girl named Eri. His life got better, but he was still bullied at school.

He didn’t switch schools, he just went less and did online classes for about half the day. It made it easier so he wouldn’t need to talk so much. While at home he learned to control his quirk with Aizawa's help. And encouragement from Eri. But he still felt like shit, so he ended up in the facility to get better.

Shinso heard the shouting as he walked round, he heard it over the music. He took out his earbuds and listened, that must be the new guy. He walked in the direction of the voice and saw someone being carried by an aide. He watched as his quirk sparked, and that caught his interest. Shinso frowned as he said he was scared, of course, he was! It was terrifying, to suddenly end up here. Once he was left in his room to settle in, Shinso walked towards the room, then knocking a little on the open door, not wanting to scare the guy but not wanting to talk. Even if he could mostly control his quirk now, he had gotten so used to not talking much.

.....

A final desperate burst of electricity came as he was taken into what would be his room and he finally settled down. He was put down and gently reassured by the man that everything would be alright and that he would be taken care of here. He sniffled, tears trickling down his cheeks as he was left vaguely remembering that he'd been told that the double doors at the end of the hallways lock at night so he wouldn't be able to leave the area even if he tried. He'd also been told that there were some places where the doors were always like that, but he wasn't going to be kept there.

The boy whimpered, looking around the plain room he would be living in for the time being. Just some basic things, a bed, a nightstand, a desk, and a chair. In the end, though Shinsou was kind enough to wait a while so that he could get settled into his room a little, he would find that when he knocked and entered, the small boy was still standing right in the middle of the room where he'd been left. He was still crying softly and looking heartbreakingly lost. Why was he here? Had he done something wrong? He couldn't remember... Where was his Mommy?

Unfortunately, when he ran real low on electricity it usually took him about an hour to recover unless he had a way of recharging himself externally. Considering what had landed him there, he wasn't allowed anything he might be able to hurt himself with and that included things like long cables and shoelaces. He stared at the purple-haired boy that had come to visit him and just sort of made a distressed little sound, but for the moment didn't use words. Words were still a little hard right now. He was just so scared and lost! Would this boy help him? Was that why he was there? On impulse, he lifted his hands and made little grabby motions, hoping he would get a hug. A hug would be really nice about now.

.....

Shinso wandered the halls, humming to himself at the sound of his music. He tapped his fingers against his leg and ran a hand through his hair with a yawn. He wondered if that guy was okay, so he just walked around a bit more before heading in that direction. He walked over to the room and stood there for a moment before knocking on the open door. Shinso watched as he looked around the room and then towards Shinso.

The first night he came here, he just kind of looked around, it’s not like he came here by surprise. He got to pack his things and set up his little room how he liked, considering he would be here for a while. He unpacked his clothes while Eri and Aizawa sat on his bed and talked to him to distract him and Eri even helped him unpack his things. She hung up a picture she drew on the wall and they left a bit after. His first night just felt odd. Shinso watched as the new guy just sort of stood in the middle of the room and looked over towards Shinso after a moment. He was crying...

Then he held out his arms towards him and made grabby hands at him, kinda like a little kid. It reminded him of Eri. Though the guy seemed to have a dangerous quirk...but then again, it reminded him of Eri, she had a dangerous quirk. But he wasn't afraid of her, and he wasn’t gonna be afraid of his guy. So he walked over and wrapped his arms around the stranger. Shinso held him tightly, moving a hand to rub his back and the other run through his hair. He didn’t speak, he didn’t tell him everything would be okay, because right now things weren’t exactly okay.

.....

He got what he wanted, what he needed at that moment. Arms slipped around him and held him close, fingers played in his hair and rubbed his back. He felt better, safer. He closed golden eyes to hide his face against the other's shoulder, hiccuping softly. "Scary... Scary..." He muttered, words just a touch slurred. How strange. He'd been clear and articulate when he'd first arrived, but now he sounded and acted like he had a serious mental illness. A sharp enough mind would put together that it was a nasty side effect of his quirk, but otherwise, the change would be very confusing indeed.

Slowly he calmed down now that he was being given some comfort. He gave a final sniffle, rubbing his face as he pulled away and once again looked around at the room. "Scary... Don'... Don' wanna be 'ere... Don' wanna..." He muttered only semi-coherently. He was thinking a little more clearly now that he was calmer, but it was still really foggy in his mind. Loosely he hugged himself, looking at the other teen. He didn't know who this boy was. He must be new to him. He pointed to himself then, looking a touch shyer now. "Kaminari. Denki Kaminari." He offered, though it was doubtful he would remember any name he might be given. He would try his best. The boy was nice. He deserved it.

He even went so far as to reach out and lightly tap the other boy's chest, apparently not realizing that it was probably rude to just touch someone you'd just met. "Friend...?" He asked, looking adorably hopeful. He really was like a dumb puppy at the moment. It was either annoying or really endearing depending on who you asked. He wasn't the brightest to start, but in this state, he could barely think till he recharged. It happened faster when he took a nap, but he was too distressed right now for a nap.

.....

His purple eyes gazed down at the other boy as he hugged him and sighed, leaning his head against him and then closing his eyes. Shinso nodded a little, course this was scary. He just got brought into a mental facility pretty much against his will. He ran his hand through his hair and rubbed his back, hoping it offered some sort of comfort. Shinso didn’t really mind the childlike mentality he had right now. All of it just reminded him of Eri and he knew how to deal with her, so he could handle this guy. He figured it must be a side effect of overusing his quirk since earlier he was talking fine.

Shinso just frowned and nodded. No one that was here really /wanted/ to be here. At first, Shinso did, but now he just wanted to go home. When the guy pulled away, Shinso pulled out his other earbud and pushed it into his pocket, then just leaving his hands in the pockets of his jacket. He nodded as the other spoke, Kaminari, alright. Shinso opened his mouth and then closed it again. Man, he hoped this guy knew the basic alphabet in sign. If not he could just type it on the iPod. Then he signed his name, ‘Shinso. Hitoshi Shinso.’

When his chest was touched, he glanced down at his hand and then looked at him again. There was a sort of surprised look on his face. But he nodded a little nervously, he was unsure, he hadn’t had friends in a long time. But this guy needed someone to be there while he was new here. So he agreed with a shaky nod. Shinso smiled a little at him, he never liked his smile, it always looked awkward and nervous.

.....

Okay, good. He had managed to communicate what his name was. Now he just needed... To... Oh fuck. He was signing. It wasn't that Kaminari himself couldn't sign, he could. Ish. He knew enough to stumble through a conversation at the very least and get his point across. He'd thought it was a good thing for heroes to know, just like he'd started learning English as well. The trouble was, he could barely manage Japanese right now, he wasn't going to be able to manage JSL. He stared at his hands all the same with a hilarious amount of intensity and all he could draw away from it was that he was spelling something. Shit. He would have to find out his name later...

For now, he would be able to get away with not knowing it because his offer of friendship had been accepted! "Friend!" He cheered, smiling brightly. Goodness, he really was like a puppy... So excitable! He looked around again only to sober up. Shit. Right. He was here. Now he didn't know what to do with himself. He looked down at the bag and remembered that it was his. It had his things in it. He went over and picked it up, putting it on the desk and peeking inside. He should unpack... He knew he should, but... And once again he was looking around at what was in the room. He felt lost again. Where should he put his things? He looked back down at the bag and had to accept that he didn't have the mental faculties to do something like unpacking a bag in any way that was orderly.

In the end, he just upended it onto the desk, his things tumbling out onto the surface. There. It was out of the bag at least. Everything inside was just clothes. He'd been promised electronics later, but there was the matter of wires. He might only be able to charge his phone out in communal areas where he could be watched. Now what? Shit... He hated not being able to think... At least everything wasn't super far away and lost in the fog of his mind. He was starting to think a little more, even if it was still sort of hard. "Dunno whatta do..." He admitted, looking back at what he now considered a new friend.

.....

Shinso smiled a little as he looked at him, then sighing. He probably couldn’t handle sign right now, he could barely handle speaking anyways. So he watched as he just kinda stared at his hands, maybe using the iPod or his voice would be better. His voice would sound raspy and weird, he only used it really when he needed to now. He was just so scared to risk controlling this guy. But he had worked so hard on controlling his quirk, so maybe it would be fine. He just needed to be confident. So he opened his mouth again to speak. But Kaminari got so excited...so he just let him enjoy that little moment and excitedly cheer that he had a friend.

He nodded a little and smiled at him, then watching as he looked around and his mood seemed to drop. That made Shinso frown and wonder what landed him in here. What could it have been? Maybe the issue with his quirk wasn’t something his family could deal with? He wasn’t sure... Then he watched as he looked down at the bag, picked it up, and put it on the table. He walked over to the bed and sat on the edge, watching him for a moment. Shinso ran a hand through his hair and then disconnected his earbuds from the iPod and texted his dad a quick goodnight and told him to tell Eri he loved her. Then pocketing it after getting a response.

He snorted as he dumped it out onto the desk. He put his hand over his mouth to stifle the laughter. He stood up and walked over. Then unlocking his iPod and opens up a game. He set it down in front of Kamianri and stood next to him. Then clearing his throat and rubbing his hand against it for a moment. “Shinso...Hitoshi Shinso...” His voice was a little quiet and shaky, but it worked. “Go lay down and play a game, I’ll put everything away.” He said and chewed on the inside of his cheek, then offering him a friendly smile.

.....

He looked back when he heard the laughter and smiled, oblivious to the fact he was being laughed /at/. All he could process was that, for some reason, his new friend was happy and that's all that mattered to him at the moment. He smiled brightly again when the other came over to him and set his iPod down on the table. he didn't have more than a second to look at it however when the other started to speak. Oh! He could talk! Like... Aloud! Thank goodness... He really wouldn't be able to communicate with him well when he was like this otherwise. "Shin... Sou..." He murmured back then smiled all over again. "Shinsou!" He chirped, then looked back down at the iPod.

A game? A game sounded nice. He picked up the iPod and sure enough did as he was told, wandering over to the bed and flopping down on top of it only to yelp as he lost his grip on the iPod and he fell right onto his face. He whined softly as he picked it up again, pouting at it as if to ask why it had hurt him. In the end, he wasn't bothered overmuch as he, sure enough, started to play the game he had been presented with. More correctly, he was failing miserably at playing the game he was presented with. He just didn't have the brainpower for it right now. With that said, it didn't seem to much matter. He was distracted and happy to hilariously fail at the game he had been given.

This gave Shinsou the time and peace he needed to sort out his clothes and put them away for him. As there wasn't much, at least he would be able to easily find it all later. As time ticked by, the game grew easier and he did better, the teenager looking more and more focused and less dazed. This revealed that at least he could recover on his own after using his quirk too much, it just took some time was all. He licked his lips, really wishing he had a charging cable that he could use for himself...

.....

At the smile, he smiled in return. Kaminari seemed happy about the laughter. So he didn’t stifle it anymore, he just laughed and looked over at him. When he got up and set it down, Kaminari looked so excited. Shinsou smiled at that and nodded a little as his name was repeated back to him. “Yeah, Shinsou.” He said as he watched him look down at the iPod. Then looking down at it as well and the game. It was a little puzzle game where he had to just match objects, like candy crush except it was little pictures of cats. He liked cats. It shouldn’t be that hard, right? Shinsou just shrugged and watched as he picked it up and took it to the bed to lay down.

He worried for a moment that he had commanded him with his quirk, but he didn’t look like a mindless drone, he was a person still. So he smiled at that and watched as it fell on his face. He stifled another laugh and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “You okay?” He asked and just watched as he picked it right back up and started playing. Shinso nodded a little at that and then went about folding clothes and putting them into drawers. Then grabbing a stack of sticky notes from a drawer and a felt tip pen. He wrote what was in each drawer and stuck it on the drawer, as well as drawing a little cat in the corner, cause why the hell not? He tapped the dresser and looked over at Kaminari. “Just in case this happens again.” He said and went back to putting things away and organizing.

Shinsou knelt down by the bed and pushed the bag underneath it after making sure it was empty. He nodded to himself and then stood up, running his hand through his hair and then rubbing his eyes. He took a deep breath and looked over at Kaminari. He sat down on the bed and then patted the spot next to him to get his attention, not wanting to touch him in with that it would bother him. Then holding out his hand, he wanted the iPod so he could type out a question. He could talk, but doing it a lot hurt his throat, he had to get used to talking again.

.....

When asked if he was alright after dropping the iPod on his face, because he was smooth like that, he answered fairly quickly. "Nah-huh!" No... Sweetheart. It's 'uh-huh'. He'd somehow smeared uh-huh, nuh-uh, and nah into a single sound, but if how pleased he sounded was any indication, it was the former he'd the first one. It took a little for him to figure out it was a matching game and a little longer to figure out which cats matched which cats. Like why didn't these two match? They're both white! Oooooh... one is fluffy and the other has a bow tie. Okay. He could do this.

He was lost in the game for a while though he looked over when his attention was called. He looked at the dresser dumbly, then at the yellow stickies. He wasn't sure what he was trying to be told, but he was sure he could figure it out later. All the same, he smiled and nodded, often his default response when he couldn't understand something in his current state. He turned back to the game when Shinsou turned back to unpacking for him. He blinked as he suddenly found himself with some company, attention once again grabbed when the bed was patted. He looked down at the other's hand then and pouted a little. He was having fun!

Still, he had enough sense to realize the iPod had not been a gift of some kind and wasn't his. He placed it back in the other's hand and sat up. "Thanks... Hard to think sometimes. You're really nice." He was finally starting to sentence again, though they were short and simple. He definitely looked much more focused and aware now, having lost much of his helpless, lost puppy look. "Dunno how long I'll be here. Still scary... Thanks for being nice."

.....

He frowned a little when he said nah-huh. Did that mean he wasn’t okay? He seemed fine. So Shinsou just watched him for a moment and then nodded a little. “Okay...” He turned back to what he was doing and hummed a little as he did. It was a nice little moment, he had something to do other than think and walk around. He was being productive. Shinsou was helping someone. And he was damn glad to be helping. It made him feel useful, and he was talking and it wasn’t going to shit. It was fine, he was fine, Kaminari was fine.

Shinsou smiled a little when he nodded and smiled. Hopefully, that meant he understood. He hummed a little as he thought about it, maybe he didn’t understand? He should figure that out later. Once he was more conscious. He didn’t want him to get confused about what was where. As he walked over he wondered just about how much his age regressed when he overexerted himself. How old did his mind get when he did that? And how often did it happen? And how did it really affect him, afterward did he get embarrassed and ashamed of it? Shinsou shook away the thought and sat down on the bed and patted it. The pout made him chuckle a little.

When he was given it back, he nodded and smiled, then opening up the notes after pausing the game. He started to type. ‘Sorry I’m not talking much. My quirk is brainwashing and I’m still not the best at controlling it. So I don’t talk much, mostly just sign. But I’ll try to talk more, gonna take some getting used to.’ Then he set it down to listen to him talk. He could show him in a minute. Shinsou picked up the iPod again to add to his message. ‘I’ve been here for a little over six months, it gets better’ He held out the iPod to him and then crossed his legs, moving them up onto the bed.

.....

Kaminari was in fact fine. The iPod had landed flat on his forehead and cheekbone so the eye under was unharmed. It had mostly just startled him. Contently he had played till it was time to return the iPod and sit up. How much the boy regressed, of course, depending on how much electricity he'd blown through. The more he used the less there was left for his body to use. If he blew through enough, his brain started losing the ability to fire off all its synapses. The less synapses he had firing off, the lower he functioned. By this point, he had such fine control that he knew exactly where to stop before risking real damage. In theory, he could literally short himself to death so this control was extremely important.

He looked down at the iPod passed to him and realized he would have to read now. Shit. Could he read yet? He stared at it, squinting a little in concentration. It was slow going, but he managed. He lit up once he'd put together what was written, smiling at the other teen. "Amazing! That sounds so useful! My quirk is electricity. It makes me dumb though..." He pouted, sure enough looking a little embarrassed about it. He perked right back up though as if it hadn't happened. Holy shit this kid could mood swing quick...

"But yours sounds really cool! You can practice on me! If ya wan' I mean. Oh, I can do this too!" He took the iPod back and brought it up to his mouth. He pressed the device to his lips, parting them just a little so he could press the flat of his tongue firmly against the port. A second later the iPod's screen lit up and indicated it was charging. He smiled, looking adorably proud of himself. What a ray of sunshine this kid was! What could have possibly landed him here...? The lack of laces his sneakers currently sported was the only real hint Shinsou had unless he chose to ask.
