Alien King [TransMale!Ashido x Bakusquad]

Post by NicTheDjinn »

Ashido never thought being in such a highly ranked school would be easy. He’d been fully prepared for things to be difficult, hectic and dangerous. But he was also determined. Maybe he wouldn’t be top of his class, academics were never his strong suit, but he’d keep up with the rest. He wouldn’t be a burden, even if his quirk wasn’t the most impressive of them all and the most identifying thing about him were his mutations, he’d make it. He wanted to help people and do what’s right. Coming in first or being at the top didn’t matter to him as long as he did that. As long as he became a hero.

Still, everything that happened his first year made him question if he could. There was barely any time to think, everything was happening at the same time. Friends were hurt and taken from them, villains were attacking them more than most pro heroes could ever say, and through it all they still had to study and pass their classes if they wanted to be heroes. Ashido wasn’t about to lie and say he hadn’t questioned if he still did, but when they all came out of it alive, bruised and bloodied but there and he turned to see his friends at his side; well...

...It wasn’t a question of want, anymore. It didn’t matter if Ashido wanted to be a hero, what mattered was that he had to be. For them, for everyone else. For every civilian he’d saved, and the heroes and civilians he hadn’t. It was out of his hands.

The second year, he slammed into it with all the force of someone who’d finally made up their mind. If he had to do this, then he had to do it right. It wasn’t like he shot up all the way to the top of the class, but moving up the way he had was nothing to scoff at either. He poured all he had into his classes, into training, into internships and everything else. People were noticing, even civilians. He had fans and interviews, not to mention pro heroes turning their eyes on him as well. Even if it wasn’t as much as some of his classmates, it was impressive. And he was proud of it.

Which brought him to the summer break after their second year. When it hit him all at once that he had started referring to himself as ”he” in his head at some point and never stopped. He couldn’t even pin it down, and the realization hit him hardest when Aizawa of all people texted him, telling him how proud he was of his success. But he’d called him a girl, at some point, and when it made him feel wrong it was like the stars aligned. Honestly, Ashido felt sorry for the man and the way he’d unloaded about his gender identity with no warning, but he didn’t mind at all. In fact, the rest of his summer was spent being visited by the underground pro and Hound Dog of all people, talking to his parents who were initially confused but then launched themselves into supporting him just as fervently, getting him binders designed for trans pros and hero students and switching out any of his clothes that made him uncomfortable.

It was amazing. It was beautiful.

It was kind of a lot.

Not to say Ashido wasn’t grateful! It was just a lot keeping him busy which in turn made it hard to keep up with his friends. How could he when he was having meetings with Nezu, his parents and therapists so much. The therapists were more for the possibility of quirk assisted top surgery and if that was something he really wanted, because quirk assisted surgeries like that were a bit harder to get and insurance wouldn’t cover it without a recommendation. All in all, he just may have forgotten to speak to his friends and tell them about it.

So when he showed up to their first day back in the dorms, wearing a binder, well, he should have expected all the dropped jaws. “... I knew I forgot something.” He was saying it mostly to himself, staring hard at the wall and trying to force the embarrassed flush rising to his cheeks back down. Clearing his throat, he turned back to his classmates with an, admittedly, forced grin. “Hey everyone, it’s still me, Ashido! Um, I’m a boy, I only use he/him pronouns now and uh... it’d be great if you all supported me, and only called me Ashido? I’m not sure on a name yet so...” Wow, this was awkward. He wanted to sink into the floor and disappear. Just how did he forget to come out to his entire class? What if they didn’t support him? He really couldn’t handle that.

.....

Following All Might's retirement, the lives of heroes and hero students all over Japan changed. Villains were emboldened and getting organized, forcing even those of them that only had provisional licenses to step up and carry as much of the burden as they could. Sadly, 'as much as they could' was often 'more than they could handle'. Despite that, none of them complained. Well... None of them complained after Mineta lost his place in the class to Shinsou anyway... Though the feelings on this were generally mixed, as time progressed it was generally agreed that this had been for the best.

They fought side by side, the rivalry between the hero course students and even between hero schools as a whole dissolving more and more as they all found themselves fighting side by side. The further along they got, the more fierce the battles became. They were all so young and already they were being exposed to the harsh realities that came with being a hero. Even in first year, they had experienced death and injury of civilians, but these were usually due to collapsed buildings or some similar event. At far too young an age, death started to be experienced right up close and in no time several of them found out what it was like to have civilians and even other heroes die in their arms.

Friendships grew tighter as young and old supported each other through the hard times and for the students, some of the scariest were the times when school was out. During these times, many of them went home to see their families, though the school now allowed them to remain, should they wish. This resulted in some unexpected friendships forming among those they remained, Bakugou, Todoroki, and Tokoyami banning closer than they had before, for example. Those that ventured home were worried for even as some of them did it themselves.

This fear made returning to school a joyous occasion as they all scrambled to greet each other. Many remained in contact over the internet or phone, but it was so different to actually be face to face and actually be able to hug each other. This time around, the tension was high among some of them as they had heard very little form Ashido during this break, very alarming considering how sociable they always were! Nerves were high as more and more of them arrived in the common room, eagerly greeting one another, but still no sign of their pink friend. This was, unsurprisingly, particularly noticeable among the group affectionately known as the 'Bakusquad'. They sat all together, catching up and trying to distract each other from the painfully empty chair they fiercely guarded.

The doors leading outside opened once again and like every time before, all eyes turned to see who had entered. They were finally greeted by the familiar pink they had been waiting for, but... Well, there was a whole lot that was different. The most obvious change was the fact that Ashido was wearing a boys' uniform instead of the girls' one, next being the distinct lack of prominent breasts filling out the button down and jacket. The confusion was enough to result in a moment of silence which gave their friend a moment to explain why the changes were present.

Eijirou was the first one to react, leaving his chair and allowing his boyfriend's hand to slip from his own as he rushed to cross the room. "Dude! We missed you!" And with that his pink friend would find himself in a hug tight enough to threaten to squeeze the life out of him. "You went all quiet and stuff over break, we were really worried! It's not like you." He finally let go only to give him a friendly clap on the shoulder, "You look great, man..." And that was all the time he had before suddenly the rest of the class caught up.

Midoriya was eagerly offering to help think of good names he might like, Yaomomo sweetly offering to make him items he might need should he not be able to find them for himself online, Iida enthusiastically chopped at the air while saying he was incredibly proud of him for being true to himself and that he would personally make sure that he was comfortable among the ranks of their class, Uraraka and Hagakure wiggling anxiously and assuring him that he was still welcome to join them in trips to the mall even if he was a boy, the warm welcome going on and on.

Back where the Bakusquad had settled, Bakugou watched on from his chair while Sero stood to go greet his friend. This was interrupted as Kaminari frowned and spoke. "But..." Was as far as he got before Bakugou was trying to glare him to death, but more directly, he had a hand slapped over his mouth, long fingers gripping him by the cheeks and jaw hard enough to ache. While Bakugou growled threateningly, Sero was the one that spoke. "I don't care what you were about to say. Don't. Be supportive and we'll talk about it later." Kaminari was actually startled enough to look at the normally mellow brunette in fear. He nodded as he was unable to speak.

The class being frozen in apparent shock just because of his announcement didn’t reassure Ashido of good things to come, but Eijirou always did know how to break through tough, awkward atmospheres and make anyone feel right art home. He grinned brightly, accepting the sturdy hero to be’s suffocating bear hug. Ashido laughed, breathless, and wrapped his arms around his neck in turn. “Thanks, Eiji! You’re the sweetest.” And he was so glad he had him as a friend. Ashido was just so glad he was surrounded by so many supportive and loving people through such a confusing time.

Why he ever thought a group of future heroes as fantastic as his class would ever be hostile or unsupportive of him, he didn’t even know anymore. They were always so supportive of everyone else in the class, of course he wouldn’t be the exception. Everyone jumped in to offer their support in all their different ways. He smiled at Midoriya and Iida’s enthusiasm, and was glad the girls weren’t going to exclude him from any outings or hangouts, since he was still rather fond of more feminine things the other boys may not be interested in.

Ashido broke through the supportive little huddle of his classmates to practically throw himself into Sero’s arms, grin brighter still on his face, high off of everyone’s love and reassurance. “You guys! I’m really sorry I didn’t message any of you for so long, I was so distracted by everything since I came out and the paperwork... It’s been really good though, and I missed you all.” He pressed a glossy lipped kiss to Hanta’s cheek, as overly affectionate as always before he turned to smile at the two blonds of their group, pausing in confusion at the position they were in and the remnants of fear on Denki’s face. Hand on his hip, he leant in to gently pry the electric blond away from Katsuki, “Come on, show mercy, it’s just the first day. You can beat his ass later.” He teased, clearly oblivious to the previous conflict. Otherwise he may not have been so merciful himself.

The faux redhead smiled brightly for his best friend, just happy to have Ashido back in his life. "It's just the truth! I-wait. Does that mean we should celebrate your birthday and your rebirthday?" He could almost feel the 'you're an idiot' look his boyfriend was definitely shooting at the back of his head from where he was currently restraining Kaminari by the face. Thankfully he hadn't noticed this or he might scold him a bit. With a quirk like his, he really shouldn't be touching people's faces like that...

Sero reached them then, looking at Kirishima with a laugh, his characteristic smile pulling at his lips. He wasn't sure if Kirishima was an idiot or a genius for the suggestion, but he wasn't going to call him out on it, particularly when several of the girls squealed in approval and Sato followed up by offering to bake for the event. All the same he was wrapping her up in long arms, cheeks flushing pink at the kiss he got. "We missed you too! I'm glad things are going smoothly for you. You got all the clothes you need? If not, we can totally hit the mall with you. Do you know your sizes yet?" It occurred to him then that he had probably been hugging his pink friend for too long, cheeks tinting a touch darker as he let him go. This wasn't fair... Boy or girl, Ashido was super cute and he looked that much more attractive just by being happy!

When Ashido's attention was turned towards the two blonds, Bakugou huffed at the light scolding. "I just might..." He rumbled when urged to save the ass beating for later. Still, he finally released the electric blond's face after giving him a final warning look. "Anyway, keep in touch next time or I'm gonna show up at your house and stomp in your door." He stood himself up as he dropped what was clearly a hollow threat out lazily. After closing the distance between them, he offered a fist for bumping, still not one to initiate contact all that much, though he'd grown more and more tolerant of touch as time went on.

Kaminari finally joined them, though he still looked a bit spooked and definitely confused. "Hey, Ashido. Missed you!" While he honestly had, there was apparently at least one member of class 1-A that wasn't all in on the sudden change. While he didn't look disgusted in the slightest, he was definitely confused. A clear giveaway was the way his hands hesitantly moved between them, not sure what to do with them. He hugged the girls fine, but he didn't usually hug the other guys much. He usually threw an arm around their shoulders in a half hug. Should he do that with Ashido now? Or should he hug him anyway? Would he be changing in the boys' locker room with them, or keep changing with the girls, or would he change by himself in a bathroom? He was just so confused! How would this change their friendship? Worse, he may have been crushing on him before so where did that leave his feelings for the pink boy? It was starting to make his head hurt a bit...
