It had all happened so quickly. Chitter had been minding their own business on their home planet, making preparations for the coming coronation, feeling both excited and nervous all the same. The calico-coated creature was practicing for the ceremony, in the event they would be chosen out of their many siblings to be the next Monarch, the ruler of their respective territory upon their colonized home planet. Everything was going so, so well.... Only for terror and tragedy to strike.

Their home was invaded by fast, merciless assailants, outclassing them all with their speed, size, dexterity, and weaponry. Pitch black, shiny carapaces, four segmented legs with frightening claws, a pair of forearms with long, unnerving, clawed digits, and seemingly soulless amber eyes sitting in a fairly triangular head fitted with large, sharp mandibles. The fiends were swift in their takeover, making sure they usurped the planet's current thrones, wanting undeniable success, control over their new working class.

They didn't account for Chitter escaping the first chance they could, as much as it pained them to leave their home and species behind. The survivor had made attempts to call for help from neighboring colony planets, only to hear nothing, or the mocking jeers of the invaders, who then tried to give chase. While the predatory enemy bore better weaponry, Chitter's species at least were best known for their ability to navigate the expanses of the universe in little to no time at all.

Granted, that their ships weren't crippled by foreign assailants.

It was a miracle Chitter was able to reach a warp point in time, however, they weren't shot out where they had plotted a course. Instead, they were careening towards a larger blue and green planet hosting a singular celestial satellite, and many, many smaller metal satellites. The exiled royal had wisely crawled into a emergency stasis pod shortly after entering the planet's atmosphere, and even through the secure biomechanical outer shell encasing them, they could hear the bells and whistles warning them of the extensive heat and impending impact from their main navigation panel, and the warning messages counting down the distance they had left before the certain collision. It was all so terrifying, how the ship's speed as it dropped faster and faster made a howling wail that drowned out their system's warnings and alarms, only for it all to stop with a sudden crash into what they assumed to be a fluid. It wasn't long before the clear mystery liquid began to fill the cabin of their destroyed ship, signalling that they were now steadily sinking.

It was unsure if they had landed in one of the larger seas, or a shallow lake at this point-- all Chitter knew was that there was a grim chance that they may not survive this situation, regardless of if the planet is even hospitable for their species. Hell, considering how many metal satellites there were, there was an almost certain chance that the planet was home to an intelligent species of its own, and gods know how some indigenous life forms would more readily attack rather than land a much needed hand to an alien after such a traumatic crash-landing. Worse still, is if the intelligent apex species were as bad, if not worse, than the invaders of their home-colony planet. All they could do was pray for mercy, whatever may come their way.

Pray that they drown, rather than be murdered in a number of possibly cruel ways.

He'd had it! He was done with his dumb ass friends, their dumb ass plans, their dumb ass ways of dealing with stress, and his own dumb ass pride for keeping him working till the stress from work had mounted so bad that his dumb ass had a legitimate meltdown in the showers at the end of his shift. While a part of him desperately craved the vacation his friends forced on him and another part of him knew he needed it, the more vocal part of him had loudly protested even as he packed for his camping trip. They were forcing him to take two weeks off, though he really only intended on taking the first one off. He was too much of a workaholic to be inactive for an entire two weeks.

His first week was spent in pleasant isolation. He'd gone out to his favorite camping spot, way out in the middle of nowhere. He'd found this place while on vacation with his parents many years ago. His mother liked to come out here to a nice little cabin to enjoy nature, but he'd discovered a trail and had followed it further and further every year. While he continued to explore the area even now, he'd found a spot where he was happiest camping and that's where he'd decided he wanted to go for the first (only) half of his vacation.

He didn't regret his choice. It was as beautiful as it had always been, the weather was good, and the fresh fish he fished up from the lake himself tasted just as sweet as he remembered. It was all perfect. He lost himself in the natural world around him, focusing on just existing. Out here, he didn't have to worry about the outside world... Except... He did. Sure enough, as he'd suspected, by day four, he worried about how things were going back at the agency. He trusted his friends, he really did, and he knew they would all be hard at work even if he wasn't there to nip at their heels, but... What if some of his loveable idiots filled out their paperwork wrong and he wasn't there to give it a final check before being sent off to the insurance company? What if he was wrong and they slacked off while he was away? What if Deku, or worse Icy Hot, pulled further ahead of him in the rankings? Even worse, what if his friends got in over their heads and got seriously hurt because he wasn't there to offer his firepower?

This always happened when he took time off... It was the very reason he generally didn't take time off. Still, he couldn't deny that the trip had helped greatly and he was a little reluctant to cut it shorter than he already knew he would. He also knew his friends would have an absolutle fit if he came back to work any earlier than a week. May as well enjoy the last few days... And so, his final night came rolling around. He'd finished up his dinner, packed everything but what he would need for the night, had enjoyed a final night of stargazing, then had snuffed out his lantern and hunkered down in his sleeping bag. Nothing could have prepared him for the dramatic turn his night was going to take.

His tendency to sleep early resulted in him not hearing the early warning signs, but the explosive sound of the impact in the lake he was camped a at had him scrambling out of his sleeping bag and stumbling out of his tent quickly enough to spot the cause bobbing helplessly in the water boiling off its surface. The fuck was that?! It was hard to tell in the dark, but there was just enough light that he could see it was made of metal. It was some sort of pod based on the shape. He didn't know of any space missions recently and surely they wouldn't purposely land in a lake in the middle of nowhere. The target was tiny in the grand scheme of things and the location too inconvenient. It couldn't be that, but then what is it?

It only took a handful of seconds for him to decide that none of that mattered. Even at this distance he could see whatever it was, was sinking and if there was someone inside he couldn't just ignore that. He sprinted towards the water dressed in nothing but his boxers and used his quirk to take to the air. A few explosions later and he was right above where the pod had completely gone under. Shit, he could barely see its shiny surface through the water and it was quickly fading away into the dark. He took several deep breathes to prepare himself before taking a final one and shooting himself straight down with enough force to keep going even after he'd burst down into the water.

As his quirk was virtually useless underwater, he quickly swam the last of the distance with the last of his momentum, searching the surface of the pod for something that looked like it might open the damn thing from the outside. He grabbed what he hoped was a latch as soon as he saw it, losing precious oxygen as he hissed in pain. The cold lake water helped cool the surface greatly, but it was still hot enough to burn. Thankfully, his quirk granted him a fair amount of resistance so he confidently trucked through the pain to pop the thing open, hoping the occupant was wise enough to hold their breath as a rush of bubbles confirmed that the inside was now rapidly filling with water. Once the pressure was even enough to pull open the door he did so, finding what he assumed to be someone with a rather extreme mutation quirk inside. Or perhaps they were a quirked animal? It was hard to say given this person's appearance.

It didn't matter, he didn't hesitate to reach inside, pulling the poor creature out and starting to swim for the surface as the pod quickly sunk out of sight with no air to slow its descent. He gasped a lung full of air as he broke the surface, making sure the other's head was above water as well and keeping it that way as he swam them towards the shore. "Are you alright? Are you hurt? I've got you, you're safe now!" So much for his vacation... Somehow, hero work had found him in the middle of nowhere. He was fairly sure there was some kind of joke about how the universe was out to get him hidden somewhere in the situation...

Chitter watched helplessly as more and more water filled the cabin of their ship, leaving them with less and less precious air to breathe. They were frozen with fear and indecision as to what they had to do to save themselves, up until, suddenly, water began to rush inside faster than before. Either their ship lost a crucial piece keeping what little air was left inside, or something had worked the exit open. Regardless, the creature took what breaths they had left before one, final and deep gasp of air, before holding it as water fully enveloped them. The water was bitingly cold-- it almost forced air out of their lungs-- and it forced the royal to close their eyes, as it hurt them. Whether it was from the cold, or what was in the water was a mystery they didn't have time to worry about, as soon, a warm set of hands and arms took hold of them, prying the alien from their perch that had done well to protect them during the crash.... for the most part.

Once they broke the surface of the water, Chitter took a gasp of air into their burning lungs, and was simply glad that it was safe for them-- at least for the time being. As the unknown rescuer began to speak, Chitter could only und er stand the tone-- Concern, exhaustion, and duty. Was this a rescue worker of some sort? It was oddly comforting that they were kind, whomever they were. Once on shore, the poor insectoid was trembling hard, their normally voluminous fuzz now drenched and clinging to their carapace, while their large, dragonfly-like wings were bent, and even torn in places. When did that happen? They would need a proper molt in order to fix the extensive damage to those, surely. Beyond that, they were bruised, and only mildly cracked in a few spots, but would survive, so long as they didn't get infected. At least their fragile and hard to repair antennae seemed to survive without harm at least.

Loud, harsh, rasping coughs left their lungs as they tried to collect themselves as they laid themselves along their side in the sand, their head pounding terribly. After a few moments, they looked at their tri-fingered hands shakily, and was glad they weren't seeing multiples of those. They then looked to their legs, and after flexing their toes, moved on to feel along their abdomen and finally their normally plump egg sac, and was relieved to know it had come out unharmed. If that was beyond repair, there would be no hope of repopulation after the loss of most of their colonies, if not all.

They looked to their rescuer properly at last, letting out a soft, weak and whimpering sound of gratitude, before laying down properly, needing to rest. The endeavor took a lot of their minimal energy as is, and if they had a hope for a full recovery, they needed their rest. Whether or not the pale, partially furred creature would let them was a whole other thing. If they had to go through the motions, they will to the best of their ability, and if they were lucky, it wouldn't cause them further harm. Really, though, they shouldn't air dry, as it was the cold of night, and they more than likely needed clean water as well. Really, they needed proper medical attention, but in their pain-addled stupor, their biggest concerns were handled for the most part, so they thought they were just fine. It's a wonder how adrenaline can numb one into a false sense of homeostasis.

Thankfully, the being he sure enough found inside the fallen craft, if you could call it that, didn't struggle when pulled free of it. Despite them being unexpectedly heavy, he managed to swim them to shore, the blond shivering in the cold almost as soon as he exited the water. How he hated the fucking cold... This wasn't the time to bitch or get distracted, however. He had shifted into hero mode and this person's well-being was more important than his own discomfort. He forced himself into motion and started to check over the other's rather alien anatomy. Shit... This made it harder to judge their condition, but everything seemed minor to him, short of the wings. He really hoped those could heal or they'd definitely lost use of them. Better to lose those than their life though...

"I'll be right back. I'm just going to get some things from the tent." He offered, not sure they could even understand. As promised, he went to the tent, coming back out with a small bundle of wood and twigs as well as a towel. Drying off his hands, he set up the rest and very carefully used his quirk to ignite the kindling, gently blowing on it till there was a steady fire crackling. Once a source of heat was established, he scooted closer again and gently started to try and towel dry at least the furry bits. He was gentle, not wanting to hurt them any further. He really hoped they were alright... It was going to be a hell of a hike if he ended up having to carry them out of the wilderness.

Once he was at least most of the way try, a blanket was fetched and wrapped around them before a simple can of soup was opened and placed on a flat stone next to the fire to warm up. Shit he was still in his boxers... In his rush he hadn't even remembered. "I'm gonna get changed... Just keep yourself warm alright? Food will be ready soon." His tone was gentle and surprisingly soothing, though perhaps only to those that knew him, but not well.

Another quick trip into the tent that lasted a little longer had him returning wearing a warm, long-sleeved shirt and sweat pants. Much better. "You don't speak Japanese do you...? Ugh, how was he going to communicate the question, 'where are you from'? He supposed it was more important to make sure they were alright for right now. Where he was from could wait till the guy looked properly stable.

Chitter wasn't shy or hesitant about letting their rescuer check them over, well, to the best of his ability, though they did note how the other seemed similarly concerned about their wings as their owner was. If they could assure the little pale fleshy being they would get new wings when they molted, they would. Alas, with their current language barrier, all Chitter could do was appreciate how nice the other's voice sounded. It was full of emotion, and so far, their emotive tones seemed to match as far as concern went. And so, the insectoid watched as the other went into his tent, leaving Chitter to lay and rest for the time being.

When he returned, the creature watched with wonder as the others hands sparked so brilliantly, easily creating fire to help warm them both. However, when the other used the towel on their damp fluff, they were pleasantly surprised, but appreciative of the other's care. They let out a soft, sweet croon in thanks once they were mostly dried off, their fuzz already slowly getting some of its volume back. Though, that being said, it highlighted a few cracks they had been unaware of, but at least they were even more minor still. When swaddled in a blanket, they let out another, happier trill as they burrowed in somewhat, appreciating the new layer of warmth provided to them. Though, when a can of mystery substance was set next to the fire on a well-placed rock, they tilted their head about as easily as an owl could as a curious chirp left them.

Their focus landed back upon their caretaker once he returned in warmer clothes, and when he asked them a question again, their antennae wilted faintly, having a feeling it had to do with communication. A sound similar to a pensive hum left their chest as they thought a bit, before their eyes lit up, and a tired smile formed on their face. Making sure the other was looking, they slipped an arm out of the warmth of their blanket, then pointed to themselves. "Chitter. Chit-ter!" It was a simple sound-- and hopefully the gesturing would translate as 'this is my name!' They then pointed at the other, with a curious tilt opposite to the one they had before. If all else failed, they could try to get proper communication using their more direct method, but they wanted to wait a bit before going that far. Mostly it had to be a consumption of the other's DNA, in some shape or form, though the best came from.... well, either graphic means, or in the less messy method of sticking their tongue down the other's throat.

Hopefully he won't mind too much?

Thankfully, the somewhat insect-like creature didn't seem to mind being looked over and even allowed the fuzzy bits of him to be toweled off. Between being dryer and the fire, he should be able to stay fairly warm, at the very least. A blanket rounded off his attempts to keep the other warm and he was rewarded further by happy little sounds as he worked. Well, at least he could be sure that his efforts were appreciated and bringing some level of comfort, even if they didn't seem able to communicate. The fact they couldn't was actually a fairly large concern for him. He was pretty poor act communication as it was, stripping the option of words away made things that much more complicated.

It was then that he got real proof the other could speak. So his name was Chitter? That was unfairly cute... He tried not to think about that too much as if someone might somehow read his thoughts on the matter. All the same, he brought a hand up to his own chest and spoke in return. "Katsuki. Kaht-s'kee. Katsuki." He repeated patting his chest to make it as clear as he could that the words was indeed an introduction. Now they would at least be able to call to each other, but that wasn't much to go on... Hopefully they would find some sort of solution.

In the meantime, he took up a long, thin spoon and stirred the contents of the can before bringing the spoon up to his lips, blowing on it, then tasting it. Eh. Good enough. He poured half of the can into one mug and the rest into a second, offering one to Chitter and the other he kept for himself. He showed him how he brought the mug up to his lips and sipped before lowering it and making a bit of a show of licking his lips in hopes the other would understand he'd been handed some food.

Chitter watched as Katsuki introduced himself, the name sounding quite nice to the insect. However, it was surprisingly hard to get it right as they tried to repeat it themselves. "Katsss....ssski. Kaahtskee." It when on a few more times, before the poor thing looked bad. Why couldn't they say it right? It more than likely was the barrier-- the sound wasn't right, but that can be fixed once they could properly speak to the human.

When the other gave the alien the mug, and showed that it was food, Chitter examined the contents a bit himself, sniffing as his antennae reached close to the mug. There was some protein inside, plant matter of some sort.... In what could be an amusing display, rather than sipping at it like shown, they slipped out their long, seemingly thin tongue to poke at the contents. After a quick return, the alien squinted at the soup, like it had insulted them, before sticking their tongue back in, though it was thicker, it seemed, and curled as if to be a straw. The sounds of swallowing showed that they were indeed eating, though it also showed that, at least for this, they didn't need to chew.

And that it was a little too efficient, as they had emptied the mug, even going so far as to lick it clean. But, rather than ask for more, they looked at the mug, unsure of what was appropriate to do next, before carefully setting it by the soup can, or at least as close as they could from where they sat, before snuggling into their blanket more. Chitter looked at the human with a tired smile, and a sweet little chirp, before they yawned, exposing just how wide they could open their mouth, as well as the three closely aligned rows of pristine, sharp teeth. They could exist on protein, if their dental situation was any indication. However, the tongue usage also suggested they ate and drank similar to butterflies and moths, as well. What all was Chitter capable of, one may wonder.

Huh. Not bad for a first try. He was fairly sure he'd chosen correctly though as he wouldn't imagine "Bah-koo-goh-oo" would be easier for him. Katsuki would have to do. Now the question was, what to do with him...? The language barrier, it made the choice difficult as he couldn't as what the other wanted. He supposed the two choices were to go back by foot or call for backup so someone could pick them up here, probably via helicopter. The latter would certainly be easier, but he wasn't sure Chitter was hurt enough to warrant such a thing.

Then he watched as the other's antenna dipped down to examine the mug's contents. Fuck. That's what he'd been worried about and the reason he'd taken a chance to demonstrate it was food. Anyone from this world, language barrier or not, should have been able to identify the contents as soup. This creature clearly had to test it be sure. Fuck. None of the sounds he'd made so far sounded like any human language he'd ever heard of either. While he couldn't be 100% sure, it seemed he may have just rescued and had the first contact with a race not from this planet.

There wasn't exactly protocol for this, but he was well aware that it wasn't all that long ago that quirked animals got the same rights as humans so what would they do with someone that wasn't even from this planet. No... He couldn't risk news getting out about it, not till he was sure they would be safe. Shit... They would have to walk back for sure then... He'd stick with his original plan, they would head back in the morning. Give the poor thing the night to rest at least. If they were up for it in the morning, then he would lead them back, if not, he supposed they could continue to rest here, if their health didn't decline.

Shit... Watching them slurp up the soup was cute too, though the soup went startlingly fast. Then the mug was being set down and... Holy shit that yawn. Well then. If their teeth were any indication of their diet... Best not to leave them hungry. He offered the alien his mostly full mug to see if he would accept more. He'd mostly taken some himself to show that it was food and so they wouldn't eat alone, but he'd had his dinner so it's not like giving up the soup would leave him hungry. He really hoped he wouldn't be attacked in the middle of the night because they decided that he'd like some proper meat instead...
