The Road Trip to Izuku’s Heart [RodyxIzukuxKatsuki]

The road to No.1 Hero in Japan wasn’t easy. Though Izuku never expected it to be, he didn’t account for the many heartaches he would endure. Izuku met a lot of people on his way to No.1, which just meant that he had to leave a lot of people behind—though they were never forgotten. One meeting in particular sat heavy in his mind from time to time; the day he, Kacchan, and Shouto saved the world with the help of an unlikely little thief, Rody Soul. Izuku had been dispatched with Endeavor’s agency to Otheon along with Kacchan and Todoroki in order to assist with the capture of a cult leader with the intentions of ending quirk society as they knew it. While the three students had been innocently getting groceries they were interrupted by a burglary that Izuku could not ignore, being the good hearted hero that he aspired to be. He chased down the criminals to wind up in some crazy parkour game of cat and mouse with a brunet boy about his age. Once they Izuku had finally caught up to him the real adventure began. Izuku and Rody spent a couple of days together evading the Otheon police as Izuku was accused of murder! Something corrupt was definitely going on but the green-haired young hero trusted in Todoroki, Kacchan, and the other pro heroes in Endeavor’s agency to see him to justice—and they did just that. But not before Izuku had unintentionally caught feelings for the rowdy brunet he spent so much intimate time with.
Rody had the heart of a hero, but not quite a quirk to match, not that the brunet could even pursue a career as a hero at this time anyway given he had to work full time to support his siblings. Oh how Izuku admired him. The day they had departed at the airport was one of the most difficult things for Izuku to do, he couldn’t possibly tell the other boy about the feelings that sprouted in their short time together, especially when they both lived so far away and lead completely different lives. Izuku could never expect to put Rody under such distress as having to see Izuku fight for his life day in and day out.. it just wouldn’t be fair to the brunet. He had other things to worry about, he needed to parent his younger siblings. Izuku didn’t even bother exchanging contact information with Rody, it would be too painful for them to keep in contact so instead he settled for watching him and his siblings grow via social media.
Many years had passed since this incident and Izuku was finally a pro hero! Like he always wanted to, like he had dreamed! The best part is he had Kacchan by his side, their friendship was stronger than ever and Kacchan even called Izuku by his first name sometimes! Even though that was some getting used to since he did like being called Deku by the blond, it made him feel a little special. Kacchan and Izuku almost always were dispatched on missions together, the new No.1 and No.2 heroes worked together so flawlessly after all. Izuku got to work with his other classmates from UA quite often like Todoroki, Kirishima, Kaminari, and even Iida! He was fulfilled, his life was going great, nothing could be better! Or so he thought.
The call came one night when he had just gotten off patrol and was in the locker room, the greenette would need to be at head quarters first thing tomorrow morning as he and the blond were being dispatched for a recon mission. Izuku loved impromptu assignments though he knew the abrasive blond was blowing up at the unlucky soul who had to deliver the news to him. He giggled at the thought. Kacchan had calmed down a bit since maturing but not by much; he was still Kacchan after all and Izuku loved him for that. He went to sleep with a smile on his face that night prepared for the next day.
“Kacchan, sometimes these things are sudden, you should know this by now.” The greenette tried to calm his counterpart down as they walked towards the double doors that lead outside to the landing strip. After the blinding light from the open doors dimmed Izuku could see the beautiful aircraft that would be transporting them. Someone stood by the aircraft bent over slightly doing what Izuku would imagine to be a routine inspection. He looked up and over for just a moment to smile at the blond, just for his heart to drop when his attention turned back to the aircraft. The person had stood up, giving the greenette a perfect view of familiar long brunet locks. He stopped in his tracks for a brief moment only to quickly dash forward using One for All as the man turned to reveal his face. The greenette turned off One for All right as he reached the other, as to not hurt him, tackling him into an embrace. “Rody!! Rody!!” He squeaked, nuzzling his face into the others neck. Izuku was older now but he hadn’t grown too much since high school, making Rody quite a bit taller than him. He couldn’t believe his eyes! What was he doing here? Did he work for the Commission now? How did this happen? Izuku had so many questions but he couldn’t get any out! He couldn’t speak. He was so entranced with the fact that he was here!! Rody was here! Right in front of him after all these years apart. In his excitement to see his long-ago friend Izuku hadn’t realized the intense beating of his heart from holding his teenage crush so close.

Rody would never forget the day that he first met such a chaotic green hero, nor the days that followed while under his protection. The brunet had a chip on his shoulder for the longest time against heroes, but.... Even so, Izuku had saved him many times, and trusted him too.... It hurt to say goodbye to that young hero, and not get the chance to admit what he truly wanted to tell the other the last time they spoke. It was almost a miracle that Pino hadn't given him away, with how his heart ached and throbbed as he watched the boy that stole his heart board a plane back to Japan. He wished he could fly, be with him....
But, he never wanted to abandon his siblings, hurt them again, and so he stayed, despite how his heart yearned.
After years of study, getting his siblings through school and eventually getting his flying license, he was soon achieving one of his goals. The day he had been accepted, his first thought was of Izuku, wondering how proud the young man would be of him if he was there. But, alas, he wasn't able to share that joy with that emerald hero, nor the joys that followed.
Years had passed, and he was eventually hired on by the Hero Comission in Japan's branch after showing promise after a series of citizen rescues while in flight, showing his aviation skills while keeping his charges safe. It was exciting, moving his family to Japan, closer to the now #1 hero, even if he may never get the chance to meet him again. However, unbeknownst to him, he was about to have quite the reunion on the landing strip as he was taking care of some last-minute inspections. When he heard the doors open to the landing strip, he had finished his check only to turn as he was tackled by a familiar face, with warm, familiar arms wrapping about him, but that wasn't what had his heart soaring, thudding hard against his ribs. Izuku was nuzzling into his neck happily, sweetly, all while calling his name.... Pino was circling them both, trilling excitedly before landing and nesting into the greenette's hair, rubbing her little face into his curls. Granted, Pino wasn't so round, but had more the shape of a small, and faintly rounder version of a peahen.
"W-woah, hey-- Izuku, is that really you??" He asked, his voice cracking faintly as he soon held the other in turn. "Man, it's been so, so long-- I saw you're the #1 hero now!" He grinned, before patting the other's back, and tried to look into the other's face. "Still have such boyish features, huh? At least they suit you-- and you've grown, too!" He chuckled softly, despite the fact he had also grown, but not by too much. He was lucky to have his mom's genes in regards to his height. "Man, I missed you so much-- you have no idea how many times I wanted to try to get in touch with you, catch up.... but, being a hero is busy work and all that...." He trailed off, Pino wilting where she sat, looking down and away in shame. 'You probably forgot about me, after so long, after meeting so many people....' Rody thought sadly, before smiling it off. "But, that doesn't matter now-- you're here, I'm here, and we have plenty of time to catch up while I fly you guys to your mission!" He grinned, before reluctantly leaving the other's strong arms.
During that touching reunion, Katsuki could only watch in jealous shock as he saw Izuku run up to that street-rat kid with that rat with wings that followed him around all the time. Why the hell doesn't he get greeted like that?! Stupid Deku, you shouldn't be hugging extras like that when he's right fucking here! After all, he's been taking steps to show his interest in the greenette, try to express that after everything they've been through together, Katsuki wanted to be selfish, wanted Izuku, even though he knows damn well he doesn't deserve the greenette after all the pain he'd caused him growing up. That selfishness was cruel even to the blonde, even as his guilt kept twisting the painful truth in his side like a red-hot knife. He wanted someone he felt he couldn't have, and seeing the greenette being sweet on some guy he'd only known for three days made a bitter taste fill his mouth.
"Deku, let the poor bastard go so he can finish doing his job. Distracting him will prolly have us drop out of the sky." He barked, strong arms crossed over his chest as he walked up, noting how the weird bird was snuggled into his nerves green curls. "Oi, twll your bird to stop using Deku like a nest-- does it have any manners?" He huffed, before scruffing the shorter hero, and bringing him into the plane with a roll of his eyes.
Like hell was he going to let the two get caught up so quickly-- Izuku was his dammit. Katsuki couldn't let all his progress go to waste, all because some con-turned-pilot came back into Izuku's life. What did that damn brunet have that he didn't, huh?? Stupid bird-brained bastard-- Katsuki was seething, clearly far more antsy and on-edge than he normally would be after being woken up so suddenly.

Izuku's heart was beating wildly as he heard the deeper yet familiar voice of his long lost crush. "Yes, it's me!" he said happily, humming as he continued to nuzzle into the other's neck for a bit longer before lifting his head to make eye contact with Rody. A faint blush dusted his freckled cheeks as Rody mentioned his status as number one hero as well as commenting on his features. "Y-yeah! I made it to No.1.. with the help of Kacchan, All Might, and all of my friends, of course!" He gave the brunet one of his shy, wide smiles, unsure of how to take the compliments of his physical appearance he thought it best to reciprocate, "You.. y-you look great! And you're a pilot now! I knew you could do it, I'm so proud of you! How are your siblings? I bet they're all grown up by now! I missed you, too! So much... you could've contacted me.. I w-wasn't that busy..." he too trailed off feeling extremely guilty for never having reached out himself, hanging his head a bit in shame. He decided to shake it off, he wasn't going to sulk while he had Rody right here in front of him! "I have so much to tell you, Rody! And I'd love to hear all about y-your journey to being a pilot!"
Before he knew it Izuku was being dragged into the plane by Kacchan's strong arms.. and did he just.. no! Izuku loved Pino nesting in his hair. "W-wha..! N-no, Kacchan, I like Pino.. she can be in my hair..!" Izuku knew it was pointless to argue with Kacchan but he didn't want Rody to think that he didn't like Pino nesting on him.. he thought it was really cute!
When they were alone in the plane while Rody finished up outside, the greenette turned to the explosion hero with a pout, crossing his arms over his chest in a mimic. "Kacchan, what was that all about? You're grumpier than usual."

Gods above, Izuku had to tone down just how damn cute he was-- those flushed, freckled cheeks, that sweet smile, and the praise made the pilot feel like he could fight anything and win, just to protect that smile. And the fact he was worried about his siblings as well made him happy the other remembered so much despite their short time together. "I was relieved when I finally got my certification, honestly, and my siblings are in middle and high school now! Smart as tacks, like their big brother!" He chuckled, hands in his coat pockets. While his style was cleaner, fresher, he still held himself like he did back then. Mischievous, yet also kind and cunning. "All that matters is we're here now, able to see each other again after so long.... You'll need to tell me all your hero stories, too, including before you meeting me!" He smirked, knowing damn well Izuku was a hero through and through-- there was no way this sweet powerhouse only began his major acts of heroism with Otheon.
Alas, before they could catch up properly, Katsuki had stolen Izuku away in a huff. "I'll finish up the last checks, then meet you insiiiiiiide!" He called, having a feeling that loud blonde was going to bother him for a bit. With Pino there, he knew she'd peck the blonde if he gets out of line.
"Whatever-- it's still unprofessional for the both of you." He Griffen, though the small bird chirped sassy at the explosive hero, which earned her a warning look. "It's stupidly affectionate and too fucking cheeky for my liking." He then sat himself down in one of the seats, arms crossed over his chest once more. However, when questioned, he gave a look that he gives whenever someone has the audacity to say something stupid to his face. "Haah? You know damn well-- I was woken at a shitty hour, and I'm not going to stand there and watch you be weirdly affectionate with some guy we met years ago, and only knew for three days, at that. Seriously-- we have a job to do, and he has his. Once this shit is over, then you can do whatever the fuck you want." He grumbled, before closing his eyes. At least he wasn't entirely lying-- he was tired, and the plane ride will only make it worse if he doesn't try to make up for lost sleep now. Though, he was somewhat of an open book.... he was jealous, really, and it would be a shock and disappointment if Izuku hasn't caught onto that at least.

Izuku's smile widened, if that were even possible, as Rody informed him that his siblings were doing well and excelling in school! Izuku had not met the two, but he knew how important they were to Rody and as much as he cared for the brunet, he cared equally for the things that the other loved dearly. The curls atop the pro heroes head bounced gently, along with a nesting Pino, as he nodded his head in excitement at the notion of catching up. "Of course! I would love to have dinner o-or coffee with you after the mission! I-if you have some time, that is."
Although Izuku heard Rody call out to him as he was being dragged away, the green-hared man wasn't able to get much of a word in so instead he opted for a small wave and another blinding smile.
Izuku's face softened from his pout to one of understanding as Bakugou expelled his annoyances. Having known the blond since childhood was both a blessing and a curse, being able to read him very well being one of the blessings, Izuku smiled warmly taking a few steps closer to his closest friend while relaxing his stance. "Aww don't worry, Kacchan! You and I are still close friends! If you wanted me to be affectionate with you, you could've just asked." Izuku was being genuine, of course he would love to be affectionate with Kacchan, but he was also being a little shit about it. He knew that the explosive hero was jealous, it was written all over his face, but it's not like Kacchan would let Izuku run up and hug him like he just did to Rody. He would for sure get a blast to the face if he did so, or so he thought. So the green-haired hero was unsure of how to proceed with Kacchan at least for now. What he could do in the meantime is commit to not being so physically affectionate with Rody in front of Kacchan, yeah, that was a good idea.

"Unless it's as wild as the last time we were together, I think we can make it a date." Rody smiled, before giving a wink to the greenette. Simply testing the waters, seeing if the adorable pro hero was interested in it being a date. Rody hoped so, honestly.... Pino, thankfully, was atop the other's head, where she wouldn't be seen, giving away that he was anxious as all Hell. He sure was getting an evil side eye from the blonde, though, which he had to feign ignorance to. After all, he wasn't able to compete of the other decided to pick a fight. He's seen the news, how powerful Bakugo was....
Katsuki sputtered when Izuku mistook the reason for his jealousy, though.... he wasn't wrong, mostly. He wanted more than just simple affection, wanted.... Wanted Izuku, more than he could ever put into word. His stomach was sour from the thought of the two catching up, and he being left behind.... Though, he wouldn't blame Izuku, not one bit, not after their fought childhood together. Who'd want to love the one that made their life absolute hell? All the same, Katsuki was a jealous and selfish creature-- he wanted Izuku all to himself.... always has, even if he never realized it until far too late. ".... If you want to hug me, make sure I can see you and have time to prepare.... getting hugged out of no where will set me off, you know that much...." He shuddered as unpleasant memories from the end of middle school, when he had been snatched so suddenly by that sludge villain, and how.... violated he had felt after the fact. The shame that followed, even as the on scene heroes sung his praises.... he didn't do shit, after all. He was a hostage, helpless. "Come sit down, I need a head rest."

A small blush flushed Izuku's cheeks at Rody's wink, the greenette tended to be completely oblivious to genuine signs of flirting, but any form of attention had the capability to make him blush. He giggled cutely, reminiscing internally the events of their first meeting. Assuming that Rody meant a friend-date he happily agreed. "Sure!"
Izuku was glad to seem to have sated the blond for now, he nodded at Kacchan's request, giving him a sunshiny smile. "Of course, Kacchan! Anything you say." He knew that, of course, given Kacchan's past traumas. The greenette would never dream of doing anything to trigger or harm his best friend in any way. He loved Kacchan, always had, ever since they were little. It didn't take long for Izuku to realize that his love for Kacchan ran deeper than just childhood affections. He had been truthfully in love with the blond since the middle of their first year at UA, when Kacchan had, despite all odds, apologized so wholeheartedly to Izuku. His fate was sealed on that day, his heart making up its own mind. Izuku Midoriya was in love.
Izuku obediently walked over to Kacchan without a word and sat down next to him, leaning against him affectionately and offering his shoulder for the blond to use. "I think you and Rody would get along if you gave him a chance."
