Friends With the Monster | [BKDK]

Post by cynnabnnuy »

Katsuki Bakugou was... Complex. As a child, he'd been a spitfire of energy that didn't ever seem to fade before his home life had worsened. He'd been a bright kid with a promising future, excited for the life he had ahead of him. Then he'd grown up. His skin got thicker, and he could take more from whatever 'punishments' his mother would dish out. As if he'd even call her that anymore. As he'd gotten older, she'd done more, the simple things you'd use to discipline a child becoming beatings before they began growing more frequent. All while his father stood by and did nothing. What kind of man did that? What kind of man stood by and watched his only son gain the bruises he'd hidden on himself just months prior? Watched his son become the shell of himself just like he had?

He thought Masaru was pathetic, but he didn't blame him. Mitsuki had worn him down enough since they'd been married, and while he resented what he had to deal with, he could understand why she was allowed to continue on him. What he did resent his father for, however, was what he did when the woman wasn't around. He didn't go after his son, thankfully, but the boy could still hear him and his 'boyfriends' through the thin walls while he tried to work on homework. Why not just fucking run at that point? He didn't get it. If the man was home at the same time as his wife, they never crossed paths without arguing. Was it truly an argument if it was just Mitsuki screaming at him about whatever pissed her off that time?

In elementary and middle school, he'd been a mixed result of things. He was aggressive and crass, but he did his work, never turning things in late or getting a grade below 85%. Although, that was because he didn't want to know what he might have to deal with if his mother saw anything less. On the other hand, he was mean. He hung around a few kids that enabled him, being the strongest of them and knocking down someone who'd used to be his friend to gain some control. In his final year, though, he went too far. He'd ruined what little remained of his dwindling friendship with Izuku, and the group of guys he'd called his friends ditched him. It was too far. He didn't apologize, though, not wanting to be weak. He didn't think being sorry was weak, but he didn't want anyone to see the things he suffered at home that led him to lashing out so much. He didn't want to admit he was too weak to keep himself controlled.

But he still somehow managed to get into UA. It was a surprise getting his acceptance, but he was so relieved, finally feeling like he'd be able to be good enough for something. Things were... fine when he started, Izuku was in his class, but they didn't talk. He felt horrible about what happened, but it was too late to apologize now, wasn't it? Then he got fucking kidnapped. Just his luck, huh? He gets kidnapped, his mother humiliated him for not being strong enough, and no one fucking found him. Did they even care to? Had anyone even tried?

It wasn't like he would've known. Upon his capture, he'd been taken to the shitty little bar they called their hideout and kept there for about a week before something changed. He was barely alive by that point, refusing anything he was given while the league informed him he'd either join by choice or by force. Surely someone would come, right? Surely they wouldn't just leave a child to die like this, right?

The boy never got the chance to find out. All it took was one measly phone call before the events that left him unable to return to normal either way. At least his death was quick. They'd left it to the girl near his age, letting her slice into the spots that'd allow his blood to drain and end his life quickly and with minimal damage to his body. He'd never felt colder than he had in the final moments, his vision ebbing into darkness before completely depleting.

Over the next few months, he was modified as the villains deigned fit, his body ruined and remade as that damned doctor worked. If he'd been alive, he would've killed the bastard, but he wasn't. A smart move on their part. His body was preserved and he was meticulously designed to be one of their best weapons. The only issue was that, unlike lower-grade nomu, Katsuki had a mind of his own, and following orders had never been on his agenda. That was bound to be their biggest issue, something they'd try to remedy to proceed with their plans, but...

When he woke up, the first thing there was... so many scents both familiar and foreign at once. He recognized it, but there was a weirdly antiseptic overlay. There was also a desperate need to find the only person who'd ever shown him love. The person he wanted dead. The person he'd kill for if given the chance. The person leaving him with far too many conflicting feelings. "Deku..." His voice was different... Lower, rockier, and less human. He was also taller, scarlet eyes dilated as he blinked them open despite the harsh lighting. There was someone there, getting closer, approaching. His head snapped towards them when the door opened, a guttural groan leaving him as something else made its presence known. He was hungry. Not in the typical sense, though. Food wouldn't help, but there was no other way he could describe it. He wanted to satiate himself, and this wasn't Izuku, so he could- No. No...

His eyes narrowed, his frame leaning forward slightly before the restraints stopped him and he gave a low, almost chattering sound. He recognized this one. He knew that face, he'd seen him somewhere... It- that was Izuku. He was even more volatile, snarling at the male despite how nice he smelled as he thrashed against his restraints. Was he in that damned school that let him die? Was he dead? What the fuck was going on? What happened to him? Why wasn't he fucking dead yet? It was confusing and he wanted out, he wanted- "Help me- Let me OUT!"

Izuku was being eaten up from the inside. It was painful, it hurt more than anything in the world. This wasn't supposed to happen, he and Kacchan were supposed to both become heroes, they were supposed to make up, get their friendship back and become stronger. They were supposed to take on the world, defeat the villains. He'd tried so hard to reach out, but in the end, Kacchan had rejected any of his olive branches. It hurt, kept the male up at night trying to figure out what he could do. If they could just talk...

Nothing prepared him for Katsuki to be kidnapped, though.

Aching inside, Izuku had tried and tried insisting on looking for him. He had to save him, had to get him before something bad happened. He couldn't lose Kacchan - he hasn't even been able to sleep properly since he was taken. Weeks go by, and by the time the villain hideout was discovered... nothing. No leads, no idea where they could've gone. All that was there was blood. Stained into the bar's floor. He knew immediately who's it was, and... Izuku was nearly destroyed, knowing he hadn't gotten there in time to save him. To save his Kacchan. How was he supposed to continue without the main inspiration for his becoming a hero in the first place? He'd been close to wanting to drop out, return to take care of his mom... but he knew he wouldn't be able to rest until he'd avenged Katsuki.

Katsuki didn't deserve to die.

For months, Izuku forced himself to go through even more rigorous training to become stronger. He knew of the Nomus, knew that he needed to finish the villains and AFO once and for all. And he was making progress, too! He had better control over his Blackwhip, was trying to use more and more of his quirk's strength. He was going on missions to search for the labs the Nomu's were in and, well... he was the one to discover him. Him. He looked unrecognizable with all of the modifications, the tubes, but he knew it was him. Izuku had nearly broken the vat of shit keeping Katsuki asleep, but he was told it was a bad idea. If Katsuki had become a Nomu, there was no telling what he'd do once he woke up. They had to hold him back as the vat was carefully drained and Katsuki stuck with all sorts of drugs to keep him knocked out as he was unhooked and transported to a facility. Izuku couldn't be mad, they were keeping Katsuki alive, instead of giving up on him and killing him. It's not like Izuku would've let them kill him, anyway. He was about ready to take the Nomu for himself and run off, try to figure things out on his own.

It was his Kacchan, and he needed to see if he was still in there. It was terrifying, seeing the person he knew for the longest aside from his own Mother. They'd been through a lot, even despite their past history. And, when getting back to the dorm that night, Izuku was a fucking mess. He ended up trashing his room out of anger, frustration, grief. Katsuki had been put through absolute torture and he hadn't been able to save him. Did Katsuki feel alone in death? As if no one loved him?

Izuku, in the end, got no sleep that night. Not when he was told he would be the first to see the Nomu once he'd woken up, just to gauge if there was any sort of brain activity that shows Katsuki was still somewhere in there and able to be saved still. Otherwise...

The alternative was something Izuku wouldn't let happen.

When he was told the Nomu woke up, Izuku was ready. He'd decided that, instead of wearing his hero outfit to intimidate, he was going to wear his normal clothes. Including his tasteless mis-labelled shirts. He's full of anxiety, but when he heard the low sound of his nickname come from the other on the other side of the observing glass, his heart jumped into his throat. He was still in there... He had to be if he remembered him.

Before anyone could stop him, he was making his way to the door of the large, enclosed room and shutting it behind himself, looking back through the small window towards Aizawa and Toshinori while swallowing thickly. He had to do this. So, with a shaky breath, he turned and faced the Nomu. His back presses against the door, and his heart is pounding as he sees the other looking at him. Izuku takes the second of silence to look at the restraints. Just like the Sports festival.... Already, his eyes were getting wet. Then, he jumps at the harsh voice, looking back to Katsuki's face with widened eyes.

"K--" His voice catches in his throat, but he swallows thickly. "Kacchan... P-P-Please, calm down." Carefully, Izuku makes his way closer, hands up some to show he wasn't armed with anything. He makes it to where the chains limit Katsuki from getting any further and--- seeing all of the scars. Tears brim his lashes as his hands gently reach up to the muzzle over his mouth, his thumbs gently brushing over the skin beneath Katsuki's eyes.

"I'm so sorry I couldn't save you." He says softly, voice shaking and weak. "I-- I tried.... b-but they..." Without thinking, Izuku can't stop the way he drops to his knees, unable to stand from the amount of guilt flowing through him. "I'm s-so sorry, Kacchan. I'm so sorry." He's trying to stop the tears, but they seem never ending. Sniffling, tears still flowing down his cheeks, he brings his hands up carefully to the restraints at Katsuki's hands. "I-I'll let you go, b-but you have to promise you won't do anything." Lifting his gaze, Izuku looks torn up, he doesn't know what he was supposed to do to help Kacchan. What was there to do? He was a Nomu. It was something that was impossible, it seemed. The exposed brain, the changes to his body... It looked so painful...

His face hurt. The metal of a muzzle placed too tightly dug into his skin and irritated him more as he felt the way his modified and scarred face stuck to it. The disgust that filled him was tangible. He could feel the filth coating his skin, the dried blood, and the new pieces of him. He felt horrific. He wanted to shower, scrub off the dirt, or stop existing, but that wasn't an option. It wouldn't be an option for a long time, either. Not unless he did something drastic, but there was no energy left in him.

Katsuki waited as the other spoke, the claws of his feet digging against the floor as he looked him over a moment longer as the words sunk in. He took a moment, barely processing, before stopping to think over the words with a rolling and clicking sound. A low hiss pulled through the muzzle as Izuku approached, his eyes narrowing as he tried to pull himself away from the boy. The claws scraped at the ground more, the creature unable to move much with the bindings keeping him upright. He didn't want the other to approach him like this! He didn't want Izuku to see him when he was so disgusting and pathetic! Didn't he understand that? So why-

The monster tilted his chin up and to the side at the touch as his eyes shut tightly. It was sickening, humiliating, and degrading, especially when the other started crying. How the fuck could Izuku cry in front of him? Hadn't he been put through enough already?! Hadn't he already paid for what he'd done before? Why? Why did he have to go through this on top of everything else?

When the other dropped to the floor, his body tensed, unable to collapse as well, as he glared down at the boy. He wanted to lash out, to scream at him, and bash himself into the walls until he didn't need to deal with thinking anymore. It was too much. He couldn't take this. Not when he was still just a kid. How could he be expected to handle something like what had happened to him?
A clouded and scarred eye looked toward the double-sided mirror in front of him alongside the usual piercing red of the other. He knew someone had to be on the other side. He knew there had to be someone watching to make sure he didn't harm the boy beneath him.

"Kill me-" His voice rasped out quieter this time, his eyes locked on the window as he begged to be released. There was nothing he could do, no one he could save, nowhere to go, and no way to get to any semblance of normalcy. He didn't want to go through this. He didn't want to deal with more of this mess or with Izuku making him feel more responsible than he already did. It wasn't going to be an option, though. At best, he'd be handed over to the commission to be studied and forced into a position they deigned fit for a monster like him. He had been set up for a life of misery from the start, but he never thought it'd become this horrible. He could never have imagined that this is where he'd be left, trying to play upon their pity or sympathy to be allowed the escape he so badly wanted.

Katsuki looked so much different. The light he used to have was gone, all he could see was the shell of a man left behind. It hurt knowing how much pain and suffering Katsuki was going through and not being able to do anything about it. But-- There had to be a way to fix this, right? Couldn't they try and get Eri to revert him somehow? ... No... the chance of Eri accidentally wiping Katsuki from existence was too high.

Still, though... there had to be something they could do. To save Kacchan, to help him become a hero still. Maybe not a public one but... he could still be a hero...

But first, he needed to make sure Kacchan wouldn't go on a rampage the instant he was out of his restraints. But, instead of any words directed towards him, he hears the other speak. Those two words make his blood run cold, his heartrate picking up as his eyes widened slowly. Katsuki.... wanted death? No, no that's... that can't be right. He'd never give up like this! Kacchan didn't do that--- he couldn't.

"K-Kacchan.." Izuku's voice is small as he forces himself to stand, despite his legs feeling weak and shaky. His hands are just as shaky as he brings them up to the straps keeping the muzzle tightly in place. "L-Listen to me. I'm not gonna give up on saving you." Sniffling, he undoes one of the straps, then goes for the second one. "B-But it might... take a while." It hurt... so much. He couldn't describe into words how much pain he felt for the other, how much he loved him to want to try and save him. "I promise I'm gonna fix this. I just.. I need you to have a little patience a-and faith." He was just saying words now. Was this even fixable?

The final strap comes undone, and he brings his hands to the metal muzzle.

"I'm taking this off, okay?" His voice is soft as he looks to those eyes. How badly did it hurt? He wonders this as he gingerly pulls the muzzle off. "Please don't bite..."

He felt repulsive. He was repulsive, wasn't he? Katsuki could feel his skin crawl as he remained upright while watching Izuku for a few moments before his attention turned. His current state. The position the league had forced him to fill. All of it made him feel nauseous. Why did he have to keep suffering? Why couldn't he die already? There was nothing left for him. He had no reason to live. They should have just killed him when they found him. It would have been easier on everyone that way.

The scarlet and clouded eye turned to his former peer at the sound of his voice, his focus drawn far too effortlessly back to the boy. His shaking was evident to anyone with eyes, and the nomu gave a clicking growl at the hands reaching towards him. He writhed in the restraints, trying to pull his head away from the human as he hissed at the friction against his already irritated skin. Whoever had put that damned muzzle on him was getting eaten first. They would not earn forgiveness.

Izuku's empty promises hurt, though. He knew that he couldn't be saved, fixed, or helped. He knew they'd be better off if he wasn't there anymore. Yet, the little fucker refused to understand that.

Removing the muzzle was painful. Dried blood connected skin to the metal alongside former scabs and other injuries that weren't treated properly. Eyes narrowed at the sting, Katsuki hissed again as his new face came into view. There was a furious red line where the metal had pushed into him, but that wasn't the worst part. Not by any means. The right side of his face was almost entirely scarred, his cheeks split and given patches of skin more akin to what a snake has at the corners of their mouths, and... The blonde creature cracked his jaw carefully, moving it from one side to the other before his lips parted just enough to reveal some of his teeth had been sharpened into finer points. Katsuki couldn't see himself. But, he could feel certain things and knew it was bad. "Don't... look... at me."

No one deserved this, least of all Katsuki. Izuku knew what he went through - he remembers seeing the other getting hit by Auntie. He remembers how quickly their friendship turned sour. He'd always hoped to try and reconnect with him. Maybe... Maybe if he'd reached out sooner, this never would've happened. He shouldn't have to suffer like this, forced to look so... different.

"I know, I know, I'm so sorry, Kacchan." Izuku whispers, blinking away tears as he carefully peeled the muzzle off. Seeing what was underneath made him have to choke back a sob, dropping the hunk of metal in favor of bringing his own scarred hands up. Gently, his palms caress Katsuki's jaw, and his lip is incredibly wobbly. He wished he could take away the pain. "You didn't deserve this..." Leaning in, he presses his forehead to Katsuki's, shutting his eyes and trying to steady his breath.

"I'll make sure everyone responsible for this gets dealt with." He's absolutely fucking pissed that people could be so heartless to put someone so young through this... this torture.

Opening his eyes, he pulls back a small bit.

"I'm taking the rest of the restraints off, okay?" Taking a second to wipe at the wetness of his face, he pulls out the key he'd snatched from one of the guards on his way in, knowing they wouldn't have given it to him willingly. When he hears the intercom buzz on, he turns his head to glare hard over his shoulder toward the mirror. It cuts back out. He knew Kacchan wouldn't hurt him, he didn't want to believe that he would. So, he turns back and brings the key up to the various restraints. The collar around his neck, the ones around his ankles, and then finally, the ones restricting his arms.

The metal falls heavily, and he steps back, his heart pounding.

"I-Is there anything you need? I can get a first aid kit to clean up the.. um... blood."

Those fucking pathetic whispers made his heart twist, his scarred lips pressing together as he watched the other as coldly as he could manage. Admittedly, it wasn't all that cold. His face was merely left contorted in a mixture of discomfort and shame. How anyone could look at him with anything but disgust was beyond him. Everything felt wrong, and he couldn't do anything about it.

The sound of metal hitting the ground made him jolt, his breath coming out in a wheezing hiss before his head turned away from the touch. Izuku didn't deserve to see him like this. He deserved better, so why the hell was he there? Why did anyone think letting him in would be a good idea? Who was the genius that ignored the way Katsuki treated the shorter boy? Probably himself, but still. He genuinely didn't understand why anyone thought it would be a good idea. He'd gone out of his way to hurt Deku, to push him away, and to keep himself safe. He wasn't a good person. He didn't deserve to be saved.

Yet, there he was, his head turned as much as possible to avoid the other's soft gestures. He couldn't accept those. Not like this. Not now.

Glancing down at Izuku at the warning, he gave a low, shuddering, and guttural noise from the back of his throat. It wasn't rejection, but it wasn't acceptance, either. He looked up at the sound of the intercom, staring silently at the window as his nose twitched. Everything smelt worse without the metal and gore contained by his muzzle. It made him sick, but he remained still, his only movements being the slight shift of clawed feet scraping the floor below.

When freed, the sound of the quirk-canceling hand restraints falling made him jolt, small pops sparking up his arms and their new additions. Disgusting. He contained himself after a moment, attention moving from his old friend to the window and back. Then, crouching slightly to meet him at eye level, Katsuki stared at the boy before him for a few seconds before nodding. "Writ-ting... materials..." Talking was a hassle, and while he didn't know if his hands would function properly, it had to be better than what he had now.

As much as Izuku wanted to believe Katsuki hasn't changed, he has. The other being completely unrestrained was a huge risk - especially when he didn't know if the other had violent urges or not. He held his breath for a moment, looking Katsuki over in his entirety until they locked eyes. Then the other speaks.

"Right! O-Of course." Kacchan might have to go through speech therapy to get his vocal cords working at a more comfortable level, so he understood. Could he still write, though? Before he moves away, he moves forward without thinking and wraps his arms around Katsuki in an embrace, burying his face into his shoulder. He felt so solid against him.

"I'll grab a bunch of stuff for you, so give me an hour, okay?" Izuku exhales, before planting a kiss on Katsuki's cheek, at the corner of his lips, before pulling back. "Don't try and cause any trouble, I'll be back in exactly an hour." He promised, giving Katsuki a look and finally, finally offering a smile. But, it's almost sad. He wished he didn't have to stay in such a strange room.

Turning on his heel, he hurries toward the door once more and, with one final glance back, he exits and pulls the door shut behind him, locking it. On the other side, he's almost immediately chastised for his recklessness by his two mentors, but he ignores them as he races out of there and hurries his way to the dorms. Luckily, before Katsuki's dorm had been cleaned out, he had collected most of his things out of the belief he'd return some day. So, he grabs a duffel bag and gets to work, shoving Katsuki's old blankets and pillows, as well as some of his more comfier clothes of black shirts and sweatpants. He gathers some notebooks and pens and pencils, as well as some of Kacchan's old manga's to keep him occupied whenever he wasn't around (which, let's be fair, he was going to make sure to visit him each day).

On the way back through, he stops by the kitchen to grab some spicy chips Kirishima had started liking, as well as some bottled water and he even takes a moment to make a few sandwiches for Kacchan. When had he eaten last? He doesn't know, but he needed to make sure he did.

When he returns, it's just Aizawa watching from the other side of the glass as he makes his way back into the room.

"Kacchan? I'm back." He shuts the door behind him. "I brought you some food, too."

Izuku Midoriya was nothing if not reckless and fucking stupid sometimes. Everyone around him knew that, though, and Katsuki was no different. But, he didn't think the hero-in-training would actually let him out of the binds holding him. It made sense, but he hadn't expected everything to be dropped and unlocked.

At the hug, he tensed, black spines along his spine jutting out further as his eyes widened. Thankfully, the other's arms weren't over any of them, but the monster tried to relax for him so as not to cause more harm. He didn't move other than that, though, instead standing still as the newly released and acquired tail swayed behind him while he let the other soothe himself with his body. It made the hunger pitted in his core grow, his stomach twisting in knots before-

The kiss made his face heat up, red pooling across the unmarred flesh before he gave a sound and pulled away. He wouldn't do anything, but what the fuck?

Letting the time pass was uneventful and boring, the nomu sitting silently in the corner as he glared at the window. He didn't know who was out there but he would make sure they knew he was not happy with the current situation. They probably didn't care, but he was upset and he would make it their problem as soon as he possibly could.

When the other returned, he looked to the door, remaining seated but offering a gruff hum at the warning. His eyes turned up to him, his face set in the old scowl he usually had. There was nothing to smile about, even if he could've emoted more, so why bother? It wouldn't make a difference. But, he remained calm, watching Izuku before moving to his knees and raising a brow. The duffel bag smelled like a mix of his burnt sugary smell and Izuku, so he assumed it likely had his old things. It was a nice gesture, but without a bed or any privacy, there wasn't much he could do with it. So, he turned his attention to the other male, eyes on him as he approached before motioning to his face to request the offered cleansing. It wouldn't remove the feeling of grime from his skin, but it would help. He wanted that first. Then the food, in hopes of satiating the need aching inside him.

Seeing Kacchan in the corner Izuku felt his chest ache at how alone the other was. Should he tell Mitsuki her son was alive? But... not the same? Would she even care? Maybe he should wait, see if the other even wanted to see his own mother.

Making his way over, Izuku takes a moment to open the bag and pull out a few pillows, then the blankets and letting them fall to the floor by Kacchan. Then, he pulls out the first aid kit he'd grabbed from his room and settles onto a pillow. His heart was pounding, Kacchan was.. bigger than he used to be. It made him realize how dangerous it was, being alone with him. Especially when he didn't know how volatile his temper was. He at least seemed to be trying his best to not lose his mind, though. Keeping strong and calm.

"It's.. gonna hurt a little." Izuku says as he takes some gauze and wets it with the alcohol. Lifting his gaze, he raises the small gauze square up to a spot of scabbed and dried blood. His free hand caresses Katsuki's jaw as he starts to work.

It takes longer than he'd like to admit, and Izuku can't stop the way he apologizes for particularly harder spots and can't help the soft praises. "I'm almost done, Kacchan, you're doing amazing." Maybe it's more for his own sanity, but he wanted Kacchan to know he cared about him. That he'd go to the end of the Universe for him if it meant holding him close. Soon, though, he's tossing aside the last blood-stained gauze and bringing his hands up to gently brush his thumbs over cheeks, offering a soft smile.

"Do you feel a little better?"
