No, Lyney, I don't want to see your Magic Stick [Wriothesley x Lyney]

Time moves differently in Meropide. Without the chiming of the loud speaker to indicate a new day, prisoners and staff alike would be none the wiser when the sun rises and sets. One could easily be caught in a time hole, claiming an hour as three– or worse, a day as a week. The only indicator of life above being when the lift drops off a new prisoner, or Neuvillette sends an envoy to bring Wriostheley documents that need signatures– the occasional note slipped in asking how Sigewinne was doing. She was his favorite, the Chief Justice was like a father to all Melusines, so the Duke was never surprised to see an inquiry. He kept the reply short and sweet, making sure Neuvillette remained none the wiser to what Wrioethesley and Sigewinne enjoyed during their free time.

Sigewinne started working as the nurse in Meropide shortly after Wriothesley took over as administrator, it had been her dream but Neuvillette was very much against sending down such a cute, innocent (yeah, right), kind hearted little Melusine to live such a solitary life. With the Duke down there, the Chief Justice knew that if Sige got lonely, she could find comfort in the raven. Little did Nuevillette know that would be taken way out of context. The first time Wriostheley and Sige slept together it hadn’t been his idea, hell the man really didn’t think having sex with a Melusine was even possible (he doesn’t know what parts they got !! it’s not his business!), so when she came on to him after complaining of insomnia Wriothesley was caught off guard. At first he tried to turn her down but those large pouty eyes won him over in no time.

Honestly though the Duke felt kinda bad knowing that Neuvillette had entrusted him with the care of his precious Sigewinne– having only agreed to let her work in Meropide because he trusted Wriothesley so. But not bad enough to stop. Not only did Meropide warp every concept of time, it also had a real bad habit of inducing loneliness. It ran so well independently that it felt like an entirely separate city… no, more like its own country on a distant continent. At first this didn’t bother Wriothesley, when he accepted the job as Administrator of the Fortress, he was so focused on work, on making Meropide a place that fostered true rehabilitation and not just a place for punishment where criminals were expected to rot and die, that his personal life was so far from him it wasn’t even in the back of his mind. Now, with Meropide working in such harmony he found himself doing a lot of maintenance work which meant he actually had time to himself.

He picked up a lot of new hobbies, he got really good at TCG that even the General Mahamatra himself–if Wriothesley even knew who that was–would be impressed but no matter how many games he won or how much time he spent wrecking Sige nothing seemed to fill the hole in his chest. He wanted something more meaningful, something he could easily control with no threat of consequence, someone who’s life purpose would be serving him in more ways than one.

Presently, Wriothesley laid in bed with his cock erect in his hand, stroking it lazily to the mental image of fucking some desperate bitch so deep he’d be getting a call in 3 months telling him he was gonna be a father, when his personal alarm blared from his night stand. He groaned in frustration, knowing he’d have to finish quickly in the shower to not be late for work, before throwing the covers off and heading to his private bathroom. Once clean, dressed, and shaven, the Duke set out to begin his never ending shift.

Another day, another dollar. Err– another day, another Credit Coupon.

Lyney's return to the fortress was under the guise of Arlecchino still wanting to monitor the state of the gate, a genuine order from Father, yes, but... he had other reasons.

He had been interested in the warden since long before he'd arrived. Yes, he had been put off that for a bit, what with his flickering interest in the traveler then the incident with his siblings, but it'd come back with a vengeance. Wriothesley had protected them, even if he'd been too reactionary to understand at the time, but now that it'd calmed down enough, he was able to think clearly. Well. More clearly.

The Duke of Meropide had always been imposing and attractive from what few images of him were circulating Fontaine, but in person? Oh archons, he was too hot. He'd noticed it his first time seeing the man while wandering the fortress, but coming into close contact with his grace... Well, Lyney wasn't the type to deny when his interest was piqued. His eyes followed the man more times than he could count, even while he knew he should be watching the others around him. At least he offered enough reason to observe him more often, even if it was clear lavender eyes were just using that as an excuse to stare more often...

Regardless, he returned on petty charges, but ones big enough to return him into the undercity. His boots clacked loudly against the floor once again as he was guided off the elevator by an exasperated guard, one more beat down than his last. He'd offered a few, polite, compliments on the ride down, but it was obvious those were pushing it. So, he gave in, quieting down for the poor soul before filling out what paperwork was mandated of him.
Thankfully, he still had plenty of coupons from his time under the waves as well as Lynette's, Freminet's, and, shockingly?, the traveler's. Apparently they "weren't the coupons he actually needed", whatever that meant. He didn't question it, instead simply packing them up alongside the others and his various props before he began his descent.

Processed and ready to resume his observations, he stepped out into the main area of the fort, oddly... happy to be back. It was nice, in an odd sense, being so isolated. Down there, he had some popularity, but none of that truly mattered. He didn't need to keep up the constant façade, and he didn't try to. Not this time, at least. No. Today, he simply walked along the metal walkway between the administrative office and the cafeteria, only pausing when he spotted the duke. The mask of cheer went up immediately, a smug little smile lacing his features as he took his hat off, twirling it in a little showy display as he bowed exaggeratedly for the man. He didn't say anything, not first, but he was most definitely acting coy as he returned his hat and wiggled his gloved fingers at the other. The twink needed to be ruined. Too bad no one had done it yet, sigh! Winks exaggeratedly at the warden.

As he walked down the steps of his humble abode the raven yawned, catching it with his hand as to not be so rude walking around with his mouth wide open. You're gonna catch a fly! Sige would scold him if she were around. The Duke was a polite man but it was so early, give him a break. With his sights set on making it to the cafe before the morning rush for a cup of coffee and biscuit, Wriothesley nearly missed the cute magician flocking for attention.

This wasn't Lyney's first rodeo in Meropide, but that didn't halt Wriothesley's shock for seeing the teen again. He was young, way too young for a second trip down under. The Duke was never happy to see young kid's come through here, they had so much of their life to live on the surface-- despite him being proud of the community he helped create in Meropide this was still no place for teenagers. He felt a sort of responsibility to guide Lyney in the right direction, try to get him to see the error of his criminal ways and go back to living fruitfully with his siblings above.

"Ah, Lyney, good morning." his smile was small but genuine as he placed both hands on his hips. "What are you doing back so soon?"

Awe- cute! So the Duke was a real person ♡ Yawn more king.

Lyney had to push away any unsavory thoughts the sight provided, though, instead focusing on the man after it'd been clear they'd both seen one another. No need to be rude, after all!! So, he offered a slightly more forced smile at the other's question. "Ah, Your Grace, what a pleasure to see your face as my first upon returning. Am I not allowed to come visit and ensure everyone's favorite warden is holding up well? And to think I even brought gifts for his highness this time."

Teasing lightly, he gave a light chuckle, not actually answering the question, nor intending to. His real reasons could be hidden under his orders a bit longer... So, rather than delay and wait for the other to prod, he made a small flourish of his hand, a box presenting in a brief flash of magenta flame as he held it out to the man. The wrapping was pristine, unmarred, black paper with a thin ribbon keeping a small bundle of Rainbow Roses and Marcotte buds attached with a bow in his signature color. Within, the man would find three variants of tea blends, loose-leaf, of course. A chai, an Earl Grey, and one with gunpowder as a joke, sort of. "I do so hope they're to your taste m'lord, I wanted to apologize for my behavior during my previous visit."

It took everything in Wriothesley not to chuckle at the magician's display. It was painfully obvious to everyone who came in contact with the boy that he was theatrical especially when socializing; whether that be on purpose or for show, the raven couldn't be certain even though his gut told him it was the latter. Wriothesley of all people could spot another pained heart lurking below a pleasant smile.. all the more reason for him to steer Lyney in the right direction. Wow. Lyney's smile could shroud even the darkest corner of Meropide in light. With this the administrator crossed his arms over his bountiful chest, deepening his smile in turn. "No one comes down here just to visit, dear magician. Though I do appreciate the concern for Meropide's lonesome warden." Oop. He probably shouldn't have said that, it wasn't professional to dump something like that on one of the inmates, even if it were true. Hopefully the boy just took that as a bit of a joke, considering Wriothesley's content demeanor.

His eyes lit up when Lyney performed his little trick, presenting him with a beautifully decorated box-- how lucky the Duke was to receive such a private magic show that even lead to a thoughtful gift. Given Wriothesley's colorblindness he couldn't discern the color of the flowers or the box, but thankfully he had been raised in Fontaine and therefore very aware of the natural florals that grew here. Rainbow Roses and Marcotte buds signifying romance, passion, and sincerity. How innocent of Lyney to have picked these flowers to adorn the box, not knowing the true meaning behind them. Lyney was an orphan after all, just like Wriothesley, and he was young-- too young to know the hidden meaning behind Fontaines foliage. Despite this, the Duke was appreciative of the gift, he took the box gently and thanked the magician. "There's nothing to apologize for, Lyney. The past is the past, though I do appreciate your kindness." When he opened the box he was greeted with three types of tea--loose leaf, his favorite--which forced a true smile across his lips. He took a moment to smell them individually before placing the lid back.

Tea was Wriothesley's absolute favorite thing, the reason he woke up in the morning, the reason he could stand being down here for so long. There were so many types of tea to try, to experiment with, to savor and enjoy in the solitude of your underground cell. Anyone who knew the Duke, or took the time to watch him closely, knew this.

"Would you like to join me for tea this evening? It's only fair to share the first cup with the one who gifted it to me."

He was going to tastefully ignore the warden's perception of his pain, instead focusing on those fat fucking tits that made him drool more than the metal in his mouth already did. His theatrics were there for a reason and he did Not need Wriothesley breaking the walls down before he got him into a bed. Or a relationship. Situationship? Who cared, he just... wanted something, and with his name and face plastered everywhere in Fontaine, who better to pursue than a man isolated from it all? Even outside of the numerous other factors?

However, he paused when the other's smile widened because of his. "Au contraire, mon chérie, no one has done so yet." Cooing lightly, he took active note of the comment on the other's lonely existence. "And but of course, how could I not return the care the lone warden showed myself and those dear to me? Despite the perception of the House of the Hearth, we're not cold and uncaring, and I fully intend to make that known as frequently as I can. Especially if it allows me the opportunity to make amends with someone as lovely as yourself."

Practically purring the words out, he took note of the man's reactions, every shift in his demeanor. He was stunning, and every move, minute as it was, introduced a new microcosm for the magician to revel in. One inaccuracy, however, was the other's thought on his innocence. He could act coy about it due to his age, of course, but he knew the meanings well, having made good on his promise to research the topic. Aether may not appreciate it, but eventually someone would... hopefully. Some days it felt like that wouldn't come true, but he could hope nevertheless...

With the other taking the offering, however, he hummed lightly, noting the reactions to each scent before meeting silvery eyes with the same smile. "I disagree, but I appreciate your benevolence, Sir." Voice softer, he paused, genuinely shocked by the offer of reconvening that night. "Are you sure that would be alright, Your Grace? I would hate for other inmates to think I'm getting special treatment for something as simple as catering to your interests." Even those who didn't watch him closely could attest to his affinity for tea, but that was besides the point. His tone was light, airy with taunting just barely buried in it as he looked at the other a little too pointedly. "Not that I'd protest to special treatment from someone as lovely as yourself, of course, but it'd be a shame if others started to believe they could sway you with teas, even if the blends I've brought are of the highest quality I could manage." And regular inmates would definitely Not be able to get anywhere near that level.

The magician was right to assume that Wriothesley didn't have much knowledge about the politics on the surface so he would be none the wiser regarding Lyney's infamy. He was in charge Down Here, he didn't need to also worry about what was happening up there. As for the boy's intentions, the Duke was also a bit naive to them. Lyney had been this way the first time they met, the same when he interacted with the traveler, it didn't seem any different than before.

At least for now.

Wriothesley chuckled at Lyney's insistence that he was solely here to see the Duke. Fine he could win this little debate, Wriothesley can lose the battle in order to win the war. "You're too kind, Lyney. There is nothing to amend but I wouldn't say no to your company." He paused momentarily, taking a moment to appreciate the other. "Ah, yes, your twin sister and precious little brother.. Freminet, was it? How's he doing? He's rather cute, someone like him doesn't need to see this side of the world." Though Freminet was exceptionally frail and adorable, Lyney was more the Duke's type. His lavender eyes told a story that no one but Lynette knew. He was stronger and more tactile than one would imagine just by looking at him and that was all thanks to his desire to protect those he loved. With one look at him Wriothesley could tell they had a lot in common, grew up in the same world, had similar hardships, and both wound up successful despite the odds. Whether the boy was aligned with the Fatui was none of the Duke's concerns-- he was not a diplomat and therefore had no reason to form an opinion one way or another-- so to Wriothesley, Lyney was simply a boy trying to make a living while the world feels like it's crumbling before him. It was quite commendable. The Duke was proud, as he was proud of all those who decided to start a new life by staying in Meropide.

Wriothesley's smile dropped briefly when the boy questioned him. It wasn't quite a rejection but it almost felt like one. The Duke didn't want to have to convince the younger to spend time with him, though he was sure it wouldn't take much convincing considering Lyney's playful nature, but he couldn't help but consider the other's words. To be fair Wriothesley did give out special treatment to his favorite lil fellas in Meropide--a few guards, two other inmates, a couple of Nuevillette's messengers--but no one was ever so blunt about it (Leave it to Lyney to say what's on his mind with a silver tongue-- The Knave's doing no doubt). Typically when the warden showed special interest in someone they were exceptionally overjoyed, wagging their tails like a shelter dog finally up for adoption. Lyney was different, interested him in a new way. Wriothesley liked that.

Before he could retort, the other was speaking again. Ah, guess he stayed in his head too long. Oh? What's this? Did the magician want to be the only one able to sway the Duke with his extravagant gifts? Cute. "You worry too much, Lyney." he assured, placing his free hand on the boy's slender shoulder. "I assure you that accepting my invitation is completely within reason, though if you'd like to decline I wouldn't hold it against you."

'Nothing to amend' felt like a lie. Not in the apparent sense, but in the sense of an adult trying to convince a child that their mistake was fine just because they were ignorant. He'd tried to attack the man on impulse and emotion, only stopped by Sigewinne who... he was definitely going to be avoiding still, and even still remained hostile after finding his siblings safe. Saying there was nothing to amend simply couldn't be true. At least, not in his mind.

Although- he had to push down a grimace as his brother was mentioned, forcing a thinned smile before humming in agreement. At least they were on the same page with Fremi not needing to know about the life of Fontaine's prisoners. Or things of similar nature, in their perspective, but they were mid conversation with the man, so there was no time to dwell on it. "He's doing exceptionally well, all things considered. I must say, your thoughtfulness saved him, and for that, I, alongside all of our other siblings, am immensely grateful to you." Freminet was not who he'd come down to talk about, though. As much as he would love to get distracted and gush about the cutie to the Duke, he had a personal mission, Father's orders or not, he came down for a reason. Both of them just so happened to be tied to the duke, though, luckily enough.

He noticed the drop in his expression, though, faltering a moment but opting to remain teasing. It'd make his acceptance sweeter, no? Lowering the man's hopes to soar through them seemed like a fine plan to him. Besides, he felt that openly taking the invite like most others would might be both a bit humiliating and counterintuitive. No way did he want Wriothesley finding him boring or seeing him like he did others he offered special treatment to. Besides, his goal wasn't to obtain special privileges like others might. His goal was to obtain a special position in the Duke's arms, his bed, and hopefully his heart.

Humming at the assurance, though, he melted a bit as the other put a hand on him, fighting back the brief flicker of need lighting itself inside him as he pressed into it slightly. "Ah, who said I was worried, Your Grace?" He was, but likely not in the way the man assumed. Unless he knew, but... surely he wouldn't be inviting him so plainly if that was the case? Still- "To clarify, I'd be more than happy to accompany you as long as you'll have me, however I would hate for it to become an annoyance if others catch wind and believe something to be amiss. I'm sure the paperwork that'd bring on would be quite the headache, after all, and I wouldn't want to be more problems than I'm worth for someone of your caliber." A bit self-deprecating, but intended in the best of ways. Although... he would certainly be more than a tad upset if others got similar responses by mimicking his actions. He put in the effort, after all! Wriothesley was his prize to claim!

Perhaps the man was being a bit too forgiving, but he genuinely harbored no ill feelings towards the boy, he had put that all behind them and forgiven them for their behavior. Lyney was a child, at least to Wriothesley that is, and the warden firmly believed that a child's mistakes can be forgiven far easier than that of an adults. They were still learning, still growing, hormones getting in the way of sound judgment. And if Wriothesley was being completely honest, he may have acted the same had he been in Lyney's situation that day. Until now the Duke hadn't really considered that maybe the magician didn't know that he forgave him? They hadn't talked since Lyney's first time in the fortress-- why would they?-- and so... it would seem kind of strange for the man to be so dismissive of his actions. Perhaps he'll make sure to address this sometime in the future, ensure that the boy understood the warden thoroughly.

The Duke smiled in turn, nodding as the other expressed his gratitude. Their thanks was so heart felt that maybe the raven was wrong to assume Lyney came down here for any other reason than to visit. It was a fleeting thought that left quickly. The Knave would not train her children to move about idly, there was a reason for every movement they made.

Catching a subtle change in the other's demeanor that he couldn't quite pinpoint, the grip on Lyney's shoulder tightened when the other leaned into it. Though he didn't intend to do this, the warden paid no mind to how his body reacted to the sudden pressure. Wriothesley nearly sighed in relief when he was met with reassurance regarding his offer-- so he hadn't been rejected after all. This kid was a bit of a brat if an eloquent one, it would be dangerous for them to become aware of their ability to sway his emotions so smoothly. "There are very few who would question what goes on in my private life and lucky for us they all live above ground. Though if some trouble did arise due to the Great Magician Lyney having a cup of tea with me, I'm more than willing to deal with any reperecussions. You're worth it, haven't I already proven that to you before?" Grey eyes softened though his expression remained serious as if to solidify his confidence in this matter.

If Wrioesthely knew where this was going, what he'd really be getting himself into by inviting Lyney to his room, he might have thought twice. Too bad for him his eyesight is so bad that hindsight isn't even 20/20.

Too forgiving or not, Lyney couldn't trust it. After all, he'd made no moves to repair the damage he'd caused before today, why would he be forgiven for something he'd yet to even apologize for? Regardless... that was for them to settle later. Later meaning when the warden actually informed him of why he was being forgiven so simply. While the dismissiveness was weird, it was helpful, so he'd take it for now.

His gratitude was easier to express, though. Even if the other knew he had other motives for visiting, the softening he witnessed in response to genuine thanks was enough for him to consider the trip more than worth it even if he had nothing to report back to Father about. Wriothesley had a lovely smile... he wanted to see it more, to reach out and brush his thumb over the other's lips, to feel them pressed against his own so he could study any cracks...

Focus, Lyney. Get your act together.

He had to fight back a fucking moan when the other gripped him, and that... was embarrassing, especially with how much his face heated up. Leaning in was humiliating enough, but then he had to go and do that? Archons, he was a disaster. Still, he hummed at the other's reply, nodding once eagerly. "It's settled, then. I'll do my best to avoid causing you more trouble, nonetheless, My Liege, and I'll see you after the nightly work shift lets out, see you soon~" Cooing lightly, he winked up at the other, grinning as he settled the plan in his thoughts, pleased with the development. Maybe wooing the man would be easier than he'd even hoped.

It was far too long until the fortress mellowed out for the night, considering he got there so fucking early, but at least he had his objectives to look into while he waited. Still, it wasn't enough to distract him from thoughts of the warden, how... pleasant he'd been that morning. Was it simply the offering that changed his demeanor? Or some other factor making him more agreeable as of late? He hoped that if that was the case, it wasn't romantic. Or something that he'd have to either compete with or yield to so as not to be a homewrecker. As much as he'd like to steal the Duke, that wasn't what he wanted tarnishing the Knave's reputation further.

So, he waited, and upon the designated time, he was clean and freshly dressed while making his way to the Duke's office without being seen. He'd donned high-waisted black pants that tucked into a nicer pair of heeled boots, and a black top with cut out shoulders. His hat was abandoned for the night, for the sake of... well, what he was planning, but he kept his gloves for the time being. Upon arrival, he knocked twice in rapid succession before entering, locking the door, and ascending the stairs with a simple, innocent smile, heels somehow only making slight clicks when they connected with the floor. "I hope I'm not too early- I wanted to give myself some time to avoid prying eyes, but if you need a moment, please feel free to make me wait. I'm certain your company tonight will be more than worth it."
