A drop of ink may make a million think...

The tests had come to an end, the waiting game that followed absolutely nerve-wracking, and finally the results were in. There were many, many apologetic, but encouraging letters of denial into the program. Many dreams felt crushed in just a few days and many tears were shed. So many children scrambled to apply to new schools and several career path changes as well when some couldn’t take the weight of their failure to get into their chosen school. The 40 students that had come out on top had gotten their letters of acceptance along with a personalized video from All Might himself, welcoming them to the hero course and announcing that he would be teaching at the school himself.

Uniforms were tailored, school supplies purchased, hero costume designs submitted, and all were filled with excitement at what could be viewed as the start of the rest of their lives. The first day of school arrived and the students started to trickle in and find their seats, the number having been included in their acceptance letters along with the rest of the pre-class list of things that needed doing. The first to arrive had been a tall, blue-haired teen who sat alone in his punctuality. One by one, or in rare instances in pairs, the students arrived and quietly started to talk among themselves, already starting to get to know each other, seeds of what would become strong friendships being planted. Then entered what would be the most terrifying member of their class, particularly for the few who had already witnessed his quirk during the entrance exam and worst of all to the one poor soul sharing a history with him.

The boy wore what appeared to be a permanent scowl on his face, a pity as he would have been very pretty if he didn’t look like he would kill you at any moment. His hair was a gorgeous sandy blond that naturally puffed out into stylish spikes because the grumpy bastard wasn’t lucky enough in the genetics department. Gorgeous though he might be, it was hard to notice with the personality that radiated off him. He’d spoken to no one as he entered, returning no greetings politely leveled at him. He wasn’t here to make friends. He didn’t care about a single soul in this room, outside of viewing them as stepping stones to tread upon on his way up to the top. He located his seat easily enough and sat himself down, taking a final look around the mostly full classroom just to see if anyone annoying was sitting next to him already.

It didn't take long for disinterest to settle in, no one was eager to greet someone with a scowl like his, after all. He shifted to get comfortable instead, lifting a leg to rest the lower half and one sneakered foot upon the desktop. Everything about it was rude and disrespectful, fitting of the delinquent appearance he put off. What was unexpected was how quickly he got a reaction to it.

Almost instantly, the first to arrive had been on his feet, dramatically marching right up to the blond boy to correct his disrespectful act. "Take your feet off of that desk now!"

"Haaaaah?" The order pulled an obnoxious smirk across the explosive teen's lips, already eager to assert himself over the one student that had the balls to speak to him, let alone confront him.

"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!" accused the blue-haired teen, a measure of anger and disgust in his voice. It was like Bakugou's actions personally offended him.

"You're kidding me, right? Your old school put a stick up your ass, or were you born with it?" Snarked back the blond, smirk widening as he could all but taste the confrontation on the verge of happening.

"Uh..." The taller was stunned for a moment but recognized how things were escalating. While he had been upset about the other's behavior, this hadn't been his intention when he'd come over here, nor did he want to have a poor relationship with any of his classmates. He placed a hand on his chest as he tried again. "Let's start over. I am Tenya, Iida from the Somei Private Academy." Unfortunately, the blond was confrontational enough that this was as far as he got.

"Somei, huh? So you must think you're better than me." Accused the blond. "I'm gonna have fun tearin' you a new one!"

"You would threaten me?!" Gasped the taller, shocked at how quickly things had escalated even further in spite of his attempt to de-escalate. "Your own classmate? Are you sure you're in the right place?"

"Ha! Uh?" Ruby eyes snapped to the door as it slid open again only to narrow as a growl rumbled up from his chest. He instantly recognized the new teen at the door, completely missing the fact that this was one of the few students showing up as a pair. “You…!”

The door had opened at the behest of a fairly tall young man, head still turned in conversation with his pair. He had an angular face and smooth black hair that was long enough to be held back in a short ponytail. His eyes were the color of citrine, and they were sharp when they cut towards the grumbling student with a glint that seemed almost murderous. Recognition took over so immediately that it seemed just a trick of the light, and he raised an open hand in greeting as his mouth curved up into a smile. His right hand slipped behind his back meanwhile, where his companion had shrunk back to hide behind him, likely startled by the commotion.

"Hello!” His greeting was obnoxiously exaggerated, like he was mimicking how a cartoon spoke the language. Yet as he continued speaking, his Japanese leveled out to where he sounded nearly no different than a native speaker. “I see you made it. Congratulations," he added with a grin that grazed the edge of shit eating. He knew exactly what caused that particular tone in the blond, and he was entirely unapologetic about it. Amused, even. "Wasn't sure I'd get to see you again after that blast we had last week. What are the odds we'd land in the same class?"

Despite the very obvious expression of vehemence towards him, he was speaking like he was meeting an old friend, unbothered by the blond's ire. He stepped fully into the classroom, and other one followed him like a shadow, their long braid a shock of white behind the other's black. The pair crossed the room to the far row of seats where the blond sat, fingers linked in the tiny space between them. It seemed natural how they moved together - the black-haired boy walked with confidence and took up space so his companion could slink silently out of view and go mostly without notice. Though, that might have made the other more noticeable instead.

“Fortunate for me, yeah?" Long fingers brushed the edge of the desk as he came up to it, swiveling his wrist to prop the heel of his hand on the seat-side corner which let him lean over - not quite in the blond's face, but certainly centering him in the others' view, all cheeky grin and narrowed eyes. "We had a lot of fun together. Let's do it again sometime, yeah. I'm sure we could come up with some great games to play, you and I.” Aside his shoulder, pale lilac eyes peered curiously around at the blond, though just a glance in their direction made them avert their gaze and shrink back from sight, not nearly as willing to engage in conversation or confrontation as the other seemed to be.
