Katsuki had ripped himself away from his mother as early as he thought he could be successful. He'd been struggling at her side all his life and at far too young an age had struck out on his own. Except, he hadn't. The entire reason he so confidently took off was that he wasn't on his own. He'd found himself a friend, said friend happened to be a dragon barely clinging to life. After saving him and nursing him back to health he found himself not with just one loyal friend, but four. It was with this small band that he got his first taste of true independence.
The little group took to adventuring together and though they had it hard from time to time, they honestly had the time of their lives and grew into a tightly knit little family. What he hadn't expected was for his mother to come calling. She wanted him to return home, to give up this foolishness. He couldn't just live his life on the road and he had no other home to go to. Well then... He'd just have to make a new home for himself, now wouldn't he? And so, out of spite, the tiny village of Bakushinchi was founded. Their small group gathered more and more people to them and bit by bit the village manifested itself. In time, it grew into a city, and then from that sprung smaller villages. The tiny but tenacious kingdom of Fubatsu was born with Bakushinchi as its capital. He'd known better than to try to make a home in a land that was already occupied of course, but that in of itself proved to be a problem.
The Fubatsu kingdom was located in the mountains. There was little of worth here, though he'd searched for the most comfortable place he could find. All the same, it was desolate enough that no one else was interested in occupying it. The one thing it truly had going for it was that it was highly defensible. He'd personally helped each new village establish itself, for this reason, each headed by people he trusted to make sure they didn't flounder to the harsh conditions as soon as he left. Life was hard here... Travel was difficult, prey scarce, forest sparse, and agriculture virtually impossible in the cold, hard, and infertile earth. Literally, every winter threatened to wipe them off the face of the earth. He couldn't let his people keep living this way...
The choice to go to war hadn't been an easy one. War was bloody and they didn't have much to start with, but they just couldn't continue as they were. It wasn't truly sustainable. One poorly stocked year and it was over. There were two things they had going for them which made it all possible. There was a huge focus on combat strength and ability as well as survivability, and they were especially close-knit. These were the elements that allowed Fubatsu to survive, but not enough to truly thrive. It was also what was going to help them win wars.
Warriors were handpicked into war parties, headed with competent leaders, specialized squads given appropriate assignments, and all of it fueled by the need to survive, loyalty to each other, and the love of a clan that had seen so much together. And so, their forces marched off to war, leaving behind only those that needed to stay and those unfit for real combat such as children and those with child. Just like every winter, this war would see them victorious or destroyed. They'd yet to fail against the very forces of nature, they sure as hell wouldn't be falling in battle either. The army was headed by Katsuki himself, the boy that could barely be considered a man not just refusing to remain safely behind, but honestly expected to ride out alongside his clanmates. They all knew that if they were fated to fall, he would fall with them.
In the end, it didn't come to that. Careful planning, skill, and terrifying tenacity ended in a call for a truce. It couldn't have come soon enough... By this point, Bakugou was sure that he could take the much larger kingdom by force, but not without significant loss. What's more, taking the kingdom in of itself was a problem. All they would accomplish was being able to get a hold of supplies for a limited amount of time. They simply didn't have enough people to occupy and keep everything under control, not before when they had all their people, certainly not now after suffering losses, minimal though they had managed to keep them. It would have been a temporary solution and that hadn't sat well with him. No... This was on him. He shouldn't have picked a target he wasn't sure they could hold in the long run, even if they had ample supplies and were located relatively close by. The fact they wished to negotiate a truce had been a stroke of good luck and he couldn't be more thankful for it. All the same, he was to meet with the King and Queen in the capital and that made him a touch nervous. He wasn't sure if he could defend everyone if they ventured that far into the kingdom, but their people needed this...
His army marched, this time in peace, to the capital city and there they were allowed to establish a camp outside of the city walls. Honestly, they preferred it that way, feeling safer together and with an easy route for escape should they need it. That evening a messenger arrived, bearing the basics of what was to be offered in exchange for the truce. The blond had expected to be the one to make the demands, but the treaty was surprisingly fair. Suspiciously fair, if he were honest... Their reason for going to war wasn't exactly a secret. He'd reached out to several kingdoms before resorting to it, trying to establish trade routes. No takers. He supposed this was why the treaty already outlined the basics of what he might want. Supplies to last them the winter and a trade route between the two kingdoms, though what they would trade exactly was undisclosed for the moment, a detail they would be working out in person he was sure. There were two items he did not expect to see, however. One was the request for military aid, should it be needed by the larger. The second was an offer for the hand of the Kingdom's only heir.
The last was what shocked him the most. There were no other children that he knew of to carry on the legacy of his father and the reasoning was not to absorb his little kingdom but to secure an allyship. What's more, the young man was an omega. This was unexpectedly convenient. He needed someone to have pups for him and this would solve all of his kingdom's biggest problems. At the very least, if they could find enough stability, they might be able to reach the point of sustainability rather than barely scraping by. He was given two days to decide if he wanted to agree with the terms set before him.
He discussed it with his closest friends and leaders of his people. The reaction was mixed, but only for one major reason. Though it wasn't common knowledge, every single one of them knew about it. Their kingdom would benefit greatly from this arrangement, at the cost of two of their own suffering for it. Bakugou had long since given his heart to the very dragon he'd saved so long ago and his kind-hearted friend had given his own in kind. His long-established partner would have to tolerate the blonde marrying someone they didn't even know for the betterment of their people. The decision was made quickly despite the pain it would bring with it, Kirishima himself pushing the hardest for what was best for them all. The second day the two spent alone in each other's company, but sweet words, affectionate touch, and lovemaking only soothed them for so long. The ambassadors were given no trouble at any point and even treated politely while they waited for word from the kingdom's "guests."
On the third day, Bakugou gathered his most trusted, and together they passed the city walls. He didn't like that one bit... Neither did any of his companions, in fact. It put them at a severe disadvantage and left a few of them trapped. If this was an ambush, they were done for. Of course, if they were slain, the army that remained outside the city walls wouldn't simply shrug and go home. They would take the entire kingdom down with them if they could. He, of course, was careful to leave competent leadership before venturing inside to secure their future survival at the possible cost of the only person the blonde loved unconditionally.
.....
Izuku had known a day would come where he'd have to be married off for some treaty, but he never thought it would be so soon after he'd been officially named the kingdom's heir, even if it was reluctant. Reluctant, only on his father's part, the man and his close advisors looking upon the young omega with disdain, whispered cruelty just loud enough for his soft ears to hear, all for the fact he had no magic to speak of. He couldn't manipulate fire like his father, nor could he levitate items even the slightest bit like his sweet, dear mother. His mother was the only one who showed him genuine love and care, but all the same, even she couldn't dull the pain of being essentially useless.
Useless beyond being married off to some unknown leader of a kingdom in the mountains for his own kingdom's safety.
The greenette waited in a neighboring garden to the throne room the day his... Fiancee came to seal the treaty between their kingdoms, and he was deeply nervous. What would he be like? He was a good and strong leader, he knew that much already, but... What was he like as a person, let alone a husband? What were his customs? His needs and desires? Izuku knew what he wanted, but he rarely spoke of such things. 'They were selfish, unbecoming of the heir' he'd been told when he voiced his desire to find his own husband, rather than being some bonus to a treaty. He would be happy with someone other than nobility so long as it was genuine, pure love...
His marriage to the man visiting with his parents today was a stranger, and he was basically being sold off as a bonus to the other kingdom's needs. It was just business-- no love to be had. He didn't want to be like his mother, who had also been married off herself. Sure, she had fallen for his father with time, but... Recently, Izuku believed his father to be an unloving man, only putting up a facade to get what he wanted out of others. The only reason Izuku didn't have siblings was due to the fact his mother almost died in childbirth, and because their laws dictate that divorce was forbidden, as well as taking concubines, so his father was stuck with him and his mother.
Meanwhile, in the throne room, the king and queen were seated politely as Katsuki and his party arrived, the pair seeming reserved, though the man and woman bore different expressions. Hisashi was stern, calculative, but still bore a smile-- a man that seemed to view this as an ideal moment to rid himself of some nuisance. Meanwhile, Inko was smiling as well, though it was sad and wary-- her one and only child will be married off, even though she knows he has always wanted to marry for love, rather than duty. She mourned her omegan son's fate, but she had little say in the matter. Katsuki appeared to be a strong, intelligent alpha, but she feared with how stubborn he was, how well versed in battle he was, she feared for her baby's safety and happiness. "Welcome to our verdant kingdom, Katsuki Bakugo of Fubatsu." Hisashi began, his voice clear, welcoming, yet it was clear to those sharp enough that this was merely a formality, and this was means to an end for the king. "It's a comfort to see you arrive, and, I hope, with the intent to come to an agreement upon our treaty? After discussing trade, of course." He added, Inko growing a bit stressed, but only for a moment. She knew her husband was more than happy to basically sell her son off just for his personal comfort, and she also was unsure of Katsuki and his group.
They weren't the only ones fearing a sudden ambush, after all, and with how quickly the other kingdom whittled down their forces, it was fair to worry that Fubatsu may have a hidden trump card, should things not go their way.
As Hisashi and Katsuki discussed the details of the treaty, Inko occasionally looked to the doors leading to the nearby garden, wondering how her sweet boy was taking all of this in. She knew he was upset, as a good mother always knows how her child feels in truth, but he was simply too good at hiding his heartache and sadness that she sometimes accepts Izuku's words at face value, and never press further. She wished she could offer him solace, a happier solution, but her hands were tied. At least, from how evenly Katsuki spoke, even if he was a bit stubborn, he seemed at least better than Hisashi, as far as an arranged spouse goes. Nervous, when a lull in their talks grew, she gently cleared her throat, "May I make a request that Hisashi and I are able to communicate with our son with ease while he's in your care? And assure safe passage for him to come visit?" Inko asked, her hands nervously kneading at her robes as she felt her husband's fleeting but no less palpable irritation be directed her way. All she wanted was to assure her baby's safety.
.....
Katsuki couldn't say he was surprised that upon reaching the castle, they were 'requested' to relinquish their weapons. No protest came other than a moment of hesitation, though the glare he leveled on the poor servants taking their things made it clear he expected every piece returned when it was time for them to leave. Still, he started no trouble, following their escorts inside. The mismatched group made their way along, looking rather out of place here.
It was clear their culture was quite different just by looking at them. There was a natural sort of roughness about them, almost primitive if not for the neat stitching and finely crafted buckles, not to mention weapons which they'd relinquished. Their clothing consisted of much leather and fur along with decorative jewelry, some of which incorporated teeth, bones, and feathers, many even sported what appeared to be tattoos. A king was generally expected to look regal and easily stand out among even his innermost circle, but as they came to stand in the throne room, one would be hard-pressed to pick Bakugou out if they didn't know what to look for.
Bakugou himself dressed in a similar fashion to the rest of his party though a few more necklaces hung around his neck and a brilliant red cape with fur at its neck rested on his shoulders. Even then, the cape was tattered at the edges having definitely seen better days. It didn't even look like it was made of particularly fine cloth, though the fur looked soft at least. Black and orange streaked and dotted his skin, even forming a black mask over his eyes, making the brilliant red stand out all the more. The sandy blond fox's ears stood neatly at attention, all five of his tails on open display, each ear and tail tipped in black and lined with orange.
Flanking either side of him were what appeared to be a pair of oni of all things, muscular, sharp-toothed, and each sporting a pair of proud horns. The largest difference between the two was simply color pallet. One favored red and black while the other silver and greens. Next to the red oni was yet another, this one female. She too had horns of course, but definitely favored pinks and teals. Next to her stood a rather plain-looking young man, black hair, almond-shaped eyes, and a lazy, but warm smile. He looked rather boring standing among the colorful group in his earth tones, but there was something strangely... Long... About him...
To the silver oni's side there was a blond young man that seemed rather distracted and in awe of his surroundings. He'd never been inside of such a place and his almost dog-like ears kept flicking around at every sound, tail wagging in his excitement. Considering he was with Bakugou, he must be powerful, but it was hard to imagine with the excited puppy act. At least he was only whispering excitedly to one of his friends. Said friend was what had to be the most exhausted-looking nekomata on the planet. All the same, he patiently listened to the excited canine before him, violet eyes wandering even as he quietly murmured in return. Right in the middle, standing just behind Bakugou himself, was a second kitsune. He was stunning, almost unnaturally beautiful in spite of the burn scar covering early a fourth of his face. His hair was silken and long, half white as pure snow while the other the brilliant scarlet of freshly spilt blood. His fur was as split as his hair, stark white and red on each side. Despite this, his own markings were reversed, the red half tipped in white while the white half was tipped in red. The markings on his skin reflected a similar theme, red markings on his right side and white on the left. Shockingly, despite the taller beauty clearly following Bakugou's lead, he sported six tails in comparison to his King's five. A testament to Bakugou's strength and abilities to be sure.
And so, he was welcomed and already he hated the man speaking to him. He preferred to be spoken to plainly, even if he didn't like what was being said to him. Sugared words were deceptive and a waste, particularly when they were so thinly veiled. It was insulting. "I'm as pleased to be here as you are to have me, I'm sure." He shot back, his own feelings on the matter rather plainly in view. "Time is pressing and my people wait eagerly to hear good news. Let's get the details sorted, I'm sure everyone would like to return to some shade of normalcy as soon as possible." And so the terms were laid out and compromises were made. Despite his tendency to be blunt and clear when he disagreed with one term or another, he was surprisingly fair in return. It was clear that he didn't want the world simply handed to him, instead seeking a sustainable give and take. He offered raw ore and gems as well as finished products such as weapons and jewelry. The mountains were rich in these things, but one could not simply eat metal and jewels. Food, fur, and leather were what he was after, all in raw form as he had no interest in finished product.
Once the two had agreed on how much he would be allowed to take back with him and price for future trade as well as establishing the safest route between the two kingdoms, they came to the elephant in the room. His yet-to-be-presented fiancee. It was clear that he was being used as insurance for both sides. Bakugou had a hostage to murder should he be betrayed while they could cut off aid should any harm befall their son. Something was off though... He was being given away so easily... Like he wasn't of value. Then for the first time, the Queen spoke up. His glare snapped to her and remained steady as she made her request. Ah... There it was. So he was loved and not just a thing to be thrown away.
"I can't allow that during the cold months. The mountain roads leading out of my land aren't often used and can be dangerous even at the best of times. During the winter they're virtually impossible to navigate, let alone safely. Before the threat of snow and after the melt travel is possible." Not the most positive answer, but an honest one. He was also didn't seem to take issue with visits. He looked over his shoulder as a voice spoke behind him and surprisingly, he didn't seem at all bothered that one of his party had spoken to him out of turn.
"We should have a word with Koda. I'm sure he could arrange something so messages could be sent at least." Offered the plain brunette, smile widening a little as the blond frowned in consideration. Despite the kitsune's demeanor, it was clear his party was comfortable and unafraid of him, the casual and open suggestion proof of that.
"We will send a messenger once we are home safe and settled. They will bring news on how we will establish regular communications between our kingdoms, including between yourself and your son." He conceded. Surprisingly, he was giving her his full attention just as he had her husband. It seemed he took no issue in extending the same amount of frankness and respect, regardless of which one of them was officially in charge.
.....
Hisashi didn't like Katsuki one bit, but he had to play nice. This was his ticket to get rid of his useless omegan son, and begin his work on the next steps of his plan. He needed the boy gone, and having military aid as well as gem and weapon trade would benefit him greatly indeed. He just needed to get this treaty signed as soon as possible. *However*, his wife just *had* to speak out of turn, raise a snag in his plans. Inko looked disheartened at first upon Katsuki's response to her request, but after hearing the grinning, long young man make a suggestion, she perked up, even if it was faint. "We also have a messenger ourselves!" She began, before pulling out a small leaf-shaped ocarina from her sleeve, then blowing softly into it. In moments, a fairly short Kurasu Tengu emerged from the shadows, bearing a black-iron mask with a golden beak.
"This is our most capable messenger, Tokoyami. He can brave most weather conditions, and has done so in the past." Inko began, before nodding to the young man, gesturing to come forth. "If you would permit me, I would be more than happy to aid my young master in keeping in touch with his family here--" "He gives us apples!!" Tokoyami was caught off guard as a small raven landed on top of his head, before croaking happily. "Izu-kun is a good friend!! He makes apples into bunnies for us!!" Inko giggled softly, while Hisashi looked rather displeased despite his smile. "Please forgive Dark Shadow-- he and the young master grew close shortly after I became of service to him.... As you can see, he has no qualms about lending a wing in this matter." The raven croaked happily again, before flitting off toward the garden door, tilting his head back and forth, before prancing in a circle, then melting into the shadows, his darker blob slipping underneath the door.
"Ah, that brings us to the matter at hand-- our son, Izuku. He bears his mother's good looks and stature-- alas, he has her height, but I assure you, he will make a perfect bride." Hisashi smiled, before having Tokoyami stand by the door. "Would you prefer to see him in the garden, or have him enter the throne room?" He asked, Inko becoming wary and sad once more. "And, are you aware of our wedding traditions?" He added, not too subtle in how he wanted Izuku removed from his presence as soon as possible.
.....
The sandy blond turned that harsh gaze over to the tengu, considering him. She seemed quite confident in his abilities to travel through harsh conditions, but she also wasn't likely aware of how bad the weather got in his mountainous home during the winter. He wasn't so arrogant to assume he knew the man's limits better than she did, however. As such, he patiently listened without interruption blinking lightly at the antics of the little raven. So his mate-to-be knew how to handle childish idiots. Good to know... He would get on well with his friends at the very least. This also spoke of his kind nature. A bitter pang of guilt twinged in him as it occurred to him that he would make a good mother to their kits.
"When we depart home, you may join us so you can learn the way. We'll accommodate you so you may rest before returning." He offered after thinking about it for a moment. Then it was time. He looked to the door the little bird had magicked under and considered his options. He didn't like the idea of leaving his closest alone, but also realized it might be painful for his lover to see him with the one that would soon be his mate. They both knew this was coming, but not nearly so soon nor so sudden. He barely resisted the urge to look at what appeared to be an oni at his right, knowing that even little tells like this might be noticed. He had to make this choice on his own.
Or so he'd thought.
"Go on! Your first meeting should be something special, not something for an audience, right?" Urged the red oni with a warm smile, though his lover could see the pain hidden behind it. The idiot was trying to hard and drawing attention to himself. Before Bakugou himself could try to fix what may or may not have been a mistake, someone else was speaking up, this time the voice coming from behind him.
"We can take care of ourselves for a short while I'm sure," the bicolored kitsune's silky drone spoke. When Bakugou peered back at him, he found those mismatched eyes locked on the king seated before them. Ah. So he'd picked up on it too. Good to know he wasn't the only one.
"Right..." He moved then, all five tails trailing behind him as he approached the door and reached out to grip the handle with all the confidence he could muster. "I am not familiar with your wedding traditions, though I'm sure they're different than our own. I'll discuss it with your son as it is more his concern than yours." With that, he was sliding the door open, he exited into the garden, gently sliding the door shut behind himself. They were all together. They were right on the other side of a single door. If things suddenly got violent, he would know and be there in a second. He would make this up to Kirishima later. Could someone make up for something like this...? He tried not to think about it too much, not an easy task. His eyes settled on his mate to be moistening dry lips before speaking.
"I am Bakugou, Katsuki of Fubatsu. I wish we could have met under... Better circumstances," spoke the blond fox, bowing to the other as he spoke. He doubted the poor boy had a say so he wasn't afraid of the treaty being called off should he offend him, but if they were to be mated it would be best if they at least got along.
.....
Tokoyami nodded quietly at Katsuki's suggestion, and bowed respectfully. "I thank you in advance. Dark Shadow and myself fly fastest at night." Tokoyami glanced over at his lord and lady as the topic of Izuku was brought up, his eyes betraying a soft contempt for the Lord, but when he saw how Katsuki and Shoto looked at Hisashi, he looked relieved. He cared deeply for his charge, having been treated well, almost spoiled, even, by the only heir. He believed Izuku deserved better than this, but like his lady, he had no say in the matter.
Izuku was seated under a pastel willow by a rather large pond, staring sadly into the clear water at the small school of fish swimming leisurely hen Katsuki opened the door to the garden. The greenette was in what was considered formal attire for a nobleman-- many vibrant layers of uchigi in various shades of green with a brilliant red hakama to finish his attire, as well as a flowery, tasseled pin in his almost wildly curled hair. He looked up at the blonde with a moment of fear in his eyes, but they soon relaxed, though they remained melancholy as he was greeted by his husband-to-be. It seemed he and his mother did share similar sentiments, as well as looks.
"I wish that were true, too...." He spoke simply, quietly as his hands softly worried at his knees, and bowed his head in turn. His one tail was curled around him where he sat, a very simple but all too clear clue why he was being so readily married off. "But, we can't have what we want, sometimes.... Its selfish to try to put yourself before your people...." Izuku spoke sad with a sad smile, before looking up to the blonde properly. "I'm Izuku Midoriya.... I do hope we'll at least get along well." Even those words felt doubtful, though after seeing the way Hisashi handled things in the throne room, could the heir really be blamed?
-----
"I see... Nights are even more bitterly cold during winter, but you would be a better judge of your abilities than I would be. Do what you like, but you have been warned." He pressed before making his way into the garden with a final rather snarky response to the overly eager king. This left the group awkwardly in the room with the man, tension high enough that even Kaminari took note and quieted. No one made a move, but it was clear they weren't nearly as relaxed without their leader among them.
The bi-hued kitsune literally stepped up then, standing right where Bakugou had been standing just a moment ago. It wasn't hard to guess that he was their second in command and he carried himself as such. Unlike Bakugou, which carried a natural sort of fieriness to him, this beautiful young man had a distinctly cold, even emotionless demeanor. "We would like to return home as soon as possible. How soon can the ceremony be arranged and prepared, as per your customs?"
Meanwhile, Bakugou was getting his first look at his bride to be and he had to admit that he was cute, if nothing else. He wore so much, however... And it was all so... Flowy. He could admit it was beautiful, but he was unused to such thing outside of ceremony as it was very impractical. Perhaps their meeting was deemed important enough to dress up for... Or they hoped to impress him into accepting him as his mate this way. Foolish... Clothes weren't going to impress him in the slightest.
"Mm... We can't, no. Still, I hope we can..." He trailed off staring for a moment before his eyes snapped sharply back to those pretty emeralds. "How old are you?" He demanded, tone suddenly harsh with anger. He only had one tail?! The fuck were they trying to pull?! With a face like his it was hard to guess an age, but he was not about to be married to a child!!
.....
"I greatly appreciate the warning, my Lord, but shadows care not for the iciness or sweltering extremes." Tokoyami respectfully replied, enigmatic with a faint tilt to his head, hoping to come off as amiable, and not cocky in the slightest.
When Todoroki came forward in Bakugo's place, Hisashi quirked a brow faintly, but made no comment. "A proper wedding would require at least a week for preparations-- between the fittings for both the bride and groom, as well as matching colors and crests to signify not only their union, but also the alliance between our kingdoms. The sixth afternoon would be the ceremony, attended by nobles and common-folk alike, with vows, the tying of the courting knot, and finally the binding kiss. Then, that evening would be a feast for both parties' guests. Consummation must be performed within a week with proof, lest the ceremony be ruled null and void." Inko frowned at the latter portion of it, hating that part of the ceremony the most. It never took into account how painful and embarrassing it was to be popped, then have your formerly pristine wedding robes displayed with blood and potentially also semen. 'Airing dirty laundry' as they say.
Izuku gave a soft, relieved smile at the shared sentiment he had with Katsuki, not minding how the other was looking him over. After all, it was fair for the other to see what he was to see for a good long while, even if those moments are scarce. However, he flinched sharply at the sudden change in tone, his ears flattening with anxiety as he was questioned about his age, and he looked genuinely scared, as if he had faced similar anger before, even if it was for other reasons equally out of his control. "I-I'm 200 years old since last month--" he then saw where the blonde had looked accusingly, and his only tail tucked tighter, while a lump formed in his throat. "I-I swear I'm not lying-- I.... I-I lack any magic, s-so much so that even now, I only have my one tail-- b-but I promise you that I can still be a good bride!!" He pleaded, fearing how his father would react should Katsuki reject him over being so frail, so terribly weak. "Please," he begged, bowing deeply, his forehead touching the soft grass beneath him, "Please don't see my lacking as a sign of bad genes-- i-it is just a matter of poor luck-- being a tame generation...." He explained, his nervousness was evident. Troubling, indeed, and Hisashi's heartlessness was surely further revealed.
.....
"They generally are not, no." He agreed, gears visibly turning in his head. So the birdman's abilities had something to do with shadows... Perhaps turning into them? There was no way for him to guess with so little, but it did at least in part explain why he was so confident he could make the trip without concern. He would find out more later he was sure, but he had to admit that he enjoyed the small amount of cheek he'd been shown. Though he hadn't been disrespectful, it had been a bit less than polite and the sandy blond liked it that way. It felt more real than stiff formality. With that he was following his little companion which indeed had melted into a shadow. What an interesting pair...
The bicolored young man frowned ever so slightly. To those that knew him, this was a more serious event than the tiny gesture suggested. "A Kingdom with a large and stable population is required to purposely show proof of coupling and within a strict timeframe what's more...? Do I understand that correctly...?" He repeated back, mismatched eyes narrowing.
The nekomata was the one to speak up this time, voicing the cause for the visible anxiety showing visibly among the group. "It took us a week to march here and that was before fighting a war... I've never known Bakugou to sleep with strangers, nor take kindly into being rushed into anything either."
The beautiful young man answered without even looking back. "I am well aware. I'm sure he will decide how he wishes to approach this quickly enough. I shouldn't make choices in this for him, though I think I know what he will want to do." He didn't like the thought of what they were likely going to have to do to pull this off in a manner that everyone would be happy, but he was sure they would manage.
He didn't miss the way the other suddenly switched to being deeply fearful. Either his reputation was more far-reaching than he'd thought or there was at least a secondary cause for the reaction. He had a feeling it was the latter. If he had to guess, he expected to be struck. "You're 200... And have no magic to speak of..." He rumbled, struggling to control his anger. This was the catch that he'd been looking for. So that bastard wasn't trying to keep peace between them, not exclusively anyway... He was unloading trash in a way that wasn't political suicide. "Even if you inherited nothing special from your parents you should still have at least three tails by now..." He sighed, knowing that whatever was going on, it wasn't this boy's fault. "Hush now... No need to grovel." His voice has taken a surprisingly soft tone for a moment, but he wasn't remaining where he was for much longer.
A paranoid thought crossed his mind and he was leaving the poor greenette's side. "Stay put." He ordered firmly before going over to the shoji door. There he paused, taking a deep, calming breath which didn't quite work, then slid the door open. He could feel the many eyes of his closest and knew they all instantly knew he was angry. Still, he looked only at one of them. "Cat. To me." Came the short, sharp order, then he was making his way back to Izuku, leaving the door open.
The purple cat sighed and detached from the group to follow as ordered. "I have a name..." He groused lazily but didn't seem particularly bothered. Once in the garden, he gently closed the door and joined the pair, looking at the raven only to keep staring at it eerily.
Bakugou looked at the little raven, having almost forgotten him. "This is a private matter, go back to your master." He ordered, forcing the group to wait for the shadow bird to comply. He dropped his voice as soon as he had, turning his attention to Shinsou. "He claims to be 200, but lack magic."
The sleepy-looking nekomata blinked slowly, staring at the blond like he were an idiot. He was sure the other didn't appreciate it. "He'd literally be dead..."
"Oh for fuck's sake, he's also in human form, he has to have at least something in him, you know why I called you." Snapped the blond, glare hardening at his friend.
"I know. It's just too much fun to mess with you to pass up the opportunity." He smiled softly, still smiling even when he looked away from the now growling man. "My name is Shinsou. It's nice to meet you. Would you mind if I asked you some questions?" He baited, waiting for the greenette to respond so he could ensnare his mind. Bakugou wanted truthful answers and he would get them now, even if Izuku himself didn't realize what those truths were.
.....
Glad the blonde fox wasn't offended, he smiled behind his mask, bright eyes giving away his expression. "Both the skies and shadows are where I traverse quickly-- if I may be bold, I'm willing to bet that I'm the fastest of my brethren. Little Dark Shadow is still young, but shows great promise as well. I assure you on our honor that no message coming for our master will be unsent." He bowed then, showing the other respect, before watching the blonde leave for the garden.
Hisashi quirked his brow, then nodded, seeming unbothered by the expression Shoto held. "Indeed-- it was a great many years ago that there were... Issues with incomplete couplings, affairs and harems that weren't permitted by our government. We have traditional values, and to have promiscuous parties potentially causing unwanted and potentially disastrous strife is inexcusable." Though he spoke the truth, there was a bit of tension in a few parts-- the portion regarding harems and affairs. "We wish to praise proper couplings, and we do hope you all would understand. And, we would be more than happy to provide you lodging, as well as willing to arrange escorts to make your trip much less taxing, if you so wished." The man clearly wanted to marry off his son, and seal this alliance deal swiftly, didn't he?
Seeing Katsuki seething like this brought the poor greenette so much stress-- he was telling the other the truth, he knew he was!! "I-I know I should, b-but I don't-- I-I cant use magic, n-no matter how hard I t-try!!" He pleaded, before the other reigned himself in, and spoke gently to him, telling him to cease his groveling. He watched the blonde leave anxiously after being told to stay put, his heart racing at a worryingly fast pace.
When Katsuki returned with the Nekomata of his group, the omega was no less stressed-- perhaps even more so, if he were to be honest. However, when the small raven was given a command, his feathers bristled, his voice taking quite the sharp tone. "Hah?? I don't answer to you!! And I won't, even if you do marry Izu-tan!!" He then flared his wings wide, doing what looked like a jumping-stomp back and forth, as if it would be intimidating to the fox and feline. "My only bosses will ever be Tokoyami and Izu-tan-- no one else!! Unless they earn my service, or I'm told to y one of my bosses!!" Izuku, touched by the small tantrum, smiled gently, though his nervousness was still clear in his eyes, while his voice was soft, gentle. "'Shadow, it's okay. Please go back to Tokoyami-- if I need either of you, I know how to call you, even if I'm mute." The little raven looked conflicted, before squinting at both the blonde and the violet-haired feline, before huffing, and speaking in a darker, more serious tone, "If you hurt a hair on Izu-tan's head, I will take great pleasure in pecking out your eyeballs and tongue, then scattering your entrails...." And with that, Dark Shadow went back under the garden door, joining the others, though reluctantly.
Izuku watched the hushed conversation between Katsuki and the feline, his hands worrying at the hems of his sleeves, hoping he hadn't made a mistake sending Dark Shadow away. He had a bell he could throw or simply drop, should he be unconscious, or worse. Ideally, he'd be rescued, or at the very least avenged, and laid to rest respectfully. When the feline came closer, introduced himself, Izuku felt an.... Unease, and couldn't place it. There was mischief behind that smile, he's seen it before in his father's gaze, though unlike his father, it didn't feel.... Like he was in danger. Nonetheless, he was hesitant to respond, and after looking to Katsuki, hoping for some security, despite not having any reason yet, he looked back to Shinso, before swallowing thickly. "I-I guess? What would you like to know--" before he could finish his response, the words died on his lips, and he felt as if he were removed from his body-- robbed of control.
There was a great deal of panic within the poor boy's mind, all while his body took on an eerie stillness, his expression solemnly blank-- the expression one bears when they accept their terrible fate and have done so for far, far too long. No matter what Izuku tried, he couldn't move a muscle, couldn't cry out-- even the small bell tucked in one palm inconspicuously was still being held tight. He was helpless, and he feared this may be where he would die, and he wouldn't even be able to make a sound, try to fight back.
.....
"Harems...? Hm..." Hummed the beautiful creature, seemingly neutral about the whole thing. His friends knew better, but not one drew attention to it. Assuming they were even paying attention. They all seemed to slowly start to grow distracted with each other as well as their lovely surroundings. They didn't have anything quite like this back home after all. "I doubt that will be necessary. We all wish to return home as soon as possible. I'm sure that Bakugou will feel the same."
The backtalk the blond got did not help his mood. Eyes narrowing at the challenge and the little display. They were in the middle of peace negotiations. He was not in the position to start trouble and he had to remember that. The open threat actually got a growl out of him and the gentle hand of his lavender-haired friend was the only thing that kept him in place. "I'm gonna eat him..."
"You will not." Came the lazy rebuttal. If nothing else, how relaxed the cat seemed to be made it fairly easy to tell that the threat of violence on the bird wasn't a serious one. Poor Izuku best learn that those tended to be like that or the anxiety really was going to eat him alive. For a moment, he was afraid this wouldn't work. The greenette was clearly suspicious of him, but thankfully he took the bait anyway. Once he had him under his control, he felt him out and when he was sure his control was set firmly in place, he spoke.
"Sit down and make yourself comfortable. I will not hurt you, but we need the truth from you. We do not know you and only a fool would trust that father of yours. Were you really born this way or were you cursed? If cursed, what are the terms of this curse? Have you always been this way?" He looked over at the blond for a moment before going on, on his own. "Are you being offered to us so that you may spy on our kingdom for your father? Are you even fertile?" His forked tail swayed lazily behind him, watching his 'victim' keenly.
.....
"Yes-- wholly uncivilized, really, and it only brings unpleasant conflict. Jealousy, potential violence-- it's a mess we wish to avoid as a society." The man explained, subtly unsure of the beautiful fox's blase nature of the topic. Was he being secretly critical? Doubting their methods? He didn't know, and it made the emperor uneasy under his seemingly calm exterior. "I see-- then I do hope everything goes according to plan and tradition." He replied, before glancing over the distracted group curiously.
At the other's command, he sat in a more relaxed position-- leaning on his left hip, against the large exposed root-knot, while his legs gently bent to his right. He's been sitting far too stiffly for formality, and this seemed to be his most relaxed position at the moment. "I wasn't cursed, but sealed..." He responded, his tone an eery sort of even, though not monotone. "I was really young, and I was scared, and tried to go to my father... Only for me to call in a shadow, and appear in the grass. I cried because I was scared, and the grass began to die around me... After that, I couldn't use my magic anymore, beyond shifting forms." He answered, his true self feeling deeply confused, though it all felt murky at the same time, like trying to remember a dream. "I don't know why I was sealed, nor how to undo it... My father knows, though."
When asked about espionage, as well as fertility, there wasn't hesitation once again. "I'm not being sent as a spy, merely to be sent away by my father. I do not know why, other than the fact I cant use my magic, as well as being an omegan hair.... As for fertility, I have had light heats up until now, with my next coming within the week or next, and as far as I can guess, I may have better or similar success than my mother had. She was only able to have me, and even so, she almost died while having me. She loves me so and doesn't hold me at fault for any of it. Father and the advisors lament that I'm the only heir he will be able to have with her, without my mother dying." He finished, his expression growing ever sadder. "I hope I can be useful, for whatever I'm intended for...."
.....
"Mm. Came the incredibly neutral and noncommital hum at the explanation as to why harems were disallowed in this kingdom. "I'm sure everything will go smoothly. When our Lord sets his mind to something, it is very rare for him to fail to achieve what he has set himself to do." It was the truth. Though Bakugou was not the best in terms of diplomacy, he was quite good at getting the results he wishes out of any situation. When outside of a social setting, he was even better at it.
With the small kitsune settled down, the questioning began and the answers started to come. What Hitoshi hadn't expected was the amount of information yielded. He'd gotten far more than he'd asked for and that was unusual, particularly as he had made no attempt to squeeze him for anything extra. Sure enough, he could feel the blond looking at him "If it weren't for the fact that most of this is suppressed, I'd say you didn't need me. He's very... Honest. Open even. He's also terrified. I know it isn't your strong suit, but be gentle with him."
"The hell is that supposed to mean?! Are you saying I can't be gentle?!" Snapped the explosive blond, not that the sleepy neko seemed to care.
"I'll try to reassure him, but he feels unstable. I don't know how long he'll feel calm for. Could be hours, could be minutes, but I'll do my best." Lavender eyes refocused on his victim then. "You are safe with us. There's no need to be so afraid. We won't abandon you. You're part of our clan now, you're family. When you wake, your suppressed memories will be closed to you again, but not impossible to reach. They will return to you when you're ready." Ugh... He could feel how much energy getting that order to stick was draining out of him. Nasty magic he was trying to work through. He'd definitely need a nap after this. "You will only remember telling us of your intentions and the state of you and your mother's ability to bear pups. Now... Come back to us. Nice and easy." He murmured, finally releasing his magic and feeling more exhausted than he should have when working on someone with so little magic to wield. The nekomata actually wobbled, leaning against his lord.
The blond wrapping an arm around him to help keep him up. "Oi... Don't fall asleep on me..." He muttered, the small smile on the other's lips a clear indication that he heard the concern hidden in his words loud and clear. While the nekomata gathered himself from the unexpected strain, Katsuki was quick to check on his fiance. "I hope you can forgive us for not trusting you. My country is a small one. We can't afford to take risks."
.....
"That's a comfort to hear, and I do hope that is the case with this." Hisashi replied, meanwhile Inko looked no less quietly upset about all of this. "Would it be too soon to begin preparations, then? Get a head start before Bakugo and our son are done meeting?" The emperor soon asked, glancing to the garden doors with a hint of backhanded worry in his eyes. "It seems they may actually be hitting it off... It's a comfort." He smiled as he has thus far this entire meeting, though his facade wasn't as sound. He was suspecting something was occurring on the other side of that door, but he couldn't risk his plans by investigating, or rousing suspicion.
Izuku didn't know how to feel as Shinso made his commands, laid the framework towards Izuku's eventual freedom. Though, with the promise of not being abandoned, of belonging to his fiancee's clan, he was relieved, truly. He had a place to go, one where he wasn't to feel unwelcomed even in his own home... At least, that was the hope. When he was gently brought back into his body, so to speak, he nodded as if he were about to sleep, before coming quickly back to attention, the calm on his face returning to the anxious expression he had before, though he was far more confused, and a little hurt.
But, he understood, even with Katsuki's apology and explanation for taking his will away, if only to get honesty from him. "I-I understand... J-just please don't do that to me again? I-I feel so foggy now..." He groaned, rubbing his head. "I didn't know Nekomata could manipulate the mind like that..." He murmured, before forcing himself back into a formal sitting posture, though he looked quite tired. Clearly, Shinso wasn't the only one strained from the ordeal. Izuku has always felt too terribly exhausted when he had tried to use more magic than shifting in the past-- surely it was due to the seal blocking and discouraging him from even trying. "I-I may need to rest... But f-father will want me to return with you, i-if you find me... Acceptable." He frowned softly, hating that he was essentially being sold off for peace. But it wasn't his place to argue his fate on the matter.

Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
Shouto actually broke eye contact to join him in gazing at the door. "They are or he would have rejected your offer rather than calling Shinsou to his side. It's a good sign, indeed." He drawled, already assuming that Bakugou had realized he might be used as a spy, and had brought Shinsou in to check. The fact he hadn't blown the door in soon after was enough proof for him that this was not the case. So he was throwing away a son he didn't want, but couldn't have another. On top of that, the kingdom's customs seemed to prevent him from seeking a new wife to try again. Something wasn't adding up... Surely a grandchild could be used in Izuku's place, so why throw him away? Something wasn't adding up for him. Regardless, he wasn't in the position to question it at the moment.
"Preparations may start when Izuku-san is ready to offer his input." He frowned a little then. He didn't like making choices for Bakugou, but they were on a time crunch. "But... Whoever it is that would make their clothes, summon them and have them bring an example of these clothes. Make sure whoever comes is very knowledgeable and not an apprentice being sent on an errand. Prepare for the wedding as soon as possible, but be sure to adhere to any preference Izuku-san may have." He turned to look at their brunette reluctantly committing to his plan. "Sero. Fetch Yaoyorozu."
The long young man looked startled to suddenly be given an order, but he nodded all the same. He faced the royal pair before them and bowed to them. "If you'll excuse me." With that, he rushed off speeding up to a run once he was sure he was out of sight of the room. Once he burst out of the building, he pulled out all the stops, using his webbing to yank himself up into the air, so he could move as quickly as possible. He wasn't sure why Shouto would choose to send him instead of one of the dragons, but he wasn't about to question it and trusted there was a good reason for it.
Shinsou gave in to his exhaustion, suddenly jumping up only to transform in a puff of purple smoke. His trust was well placed and though Bakugou was startled for a split second, he moved without further hesitation to catch him right out of the air and cradle him in the crook of his arm. He now looked like any other cat, though his fur was the same impossible color of his hair and his tail forked near the end, these things giving away his true nature. The cat purred, nuzzling into the kitsune's shoulder.
"Pain in my ass..." Rumbled the blond, despite continuing to hold the cat securely. With that, he turned his attention back to the greenette. "He is a very special nekomata. It's why I put up with him... He doesn't often do that unless he's up against an enemy. He just proved that you're not so he won't do that again without your permission." He assured signing as he looked at the door. They should probably get back in there before Hisashi got suspicious.
"Tell me about your marriage ceremony and what you want to do for it. I'll give you full control of how you want to do it, but we can't stay here forever. Try to keep it quick so we can go home. I mean it though. I don't give a shit what your father has to say about it, this wedding will go and look however pleases you most." He rumbled in annoyance then. "Then we'll have to do it all over again for my people. At least there we can take our damn time... We'll help you through it when we get there so don't worry about that for now. Hopefully, it won't have gotten too cold by the time we get back..."

Hisashi nodded quietly at the two-toned fox's drawl, thiugh, he still couldn't shake the suspicion he felt about Shinso. Though, with the young kitsune agreeing to help begin the planning process, the emperor smiled a little more calmly, relieved almost. "Of course-- our finest seamstress is a Jorogumo, with more than plenty designs already scrawled up." He snapped a finger, and what looked like a single black speck scuttled away from the top corner of the ceiling disappeared into a crack of the rafters, and he relaxed soon after. "Izuku has already made his decision as far as his wedding garb goes, though they're three out of fifteen designs he had been shown. I'm sure he'll ask for his husband-to-be's input before making a final decision. After all, the color palettes depend on both of their inputs." The Midoriyas watched Sero leave the royal chamber at Shoto's command, though the man was curious, but he didn't ask for the reason. He was sure the answer will come with time.
Izuku let out a worried gasp as Shinso so boldly jumped at the blonde, only to be caught with what looked like practiced ease. It was.... comforting, seeing his fiancee taking on a gentler role, even if it was for a fellow. It gave the weak kitsune a little hope that he, too, may be shown the same kindness one day. "I-I see.... Would you prefer I keep him a secret?" He asked, before looking to the door worriedly. "Though.... he-- my father, will probably know right away if he sees Shinso like that...." he frowned, worry eating away at his gut. "I just.... hope he doesn't get the wrong idea about him-- he's.... nice, so far." Izuku then looked to the feline again, genuine worry in his tired emeralds.
Though, when the blonde expressed his desire for Izuku to have a wedding of his choosing, withing reason of course, he blinked, as if lost at the thought. He wasn't used to being able to choose anything for himself-- at least nothing as important as a wedding. Though.... all the details involved weren't the most comforting. "For the ceremony itself, I as the bride would meet you at the altar, we would recite vows to one another, tie a ribbon to each other's wrists, then.... then kiss, to signify the formal end to the ceremony." He bit his lip, before continuing. "Th-there will be a feast between our two groups shortly after, then.... then we would have about a week to show that we've.... made an attempt at making heirs, or-or else the marriage becomes null." He was quiet then, worrying at his sleeves once more. "But.... But I've already picked out three possible robes-- we just need to finalize the colors. I-if you'd prefer I wear something else, that's okay." He looked up to his fiancee, swallowing softly. "I.... my only request is that we incorporate sweetheart ivy and tiger lilies into the floral decor and accents.... th-they're pretty. A-and.... maybe a soft accompaniment, rather than the standard, showy musical arrangement?" He asked, hoping that would be acceptable. "Unfortunately I cant choose where we are to be wed, but.... if I had the choice, i would have loved to be on the wisteria hill, not too far from the path leading to your territory. Mom used to take me there to make wishes...." he smiled sadly, before looking towards the door, before letting out a melancholy sigh as he rose to stand, his two unimpressive tails soon hiding under his long layers of uchigi. "L-lets go back-- I'm sure they're waiting on us.... I-I don't want my father to cause any trouble...."

Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
"If people know he's a nekomata, it doesn't matter, but keep his abilities secret." The blond clarified, looking down at the smug purple feline lazing about in the crook of his arm. The greenette had a point. Generally, creatures like themselves would only assume their natural forms for four reasons, because they feel safe and relaxed, to be stealthy, or because they were about to unleash a particularly powerful display of power. This situation was the last, having used enough power that they needed to rest. There was no way he would be able to convincingly lie that Shinsou felt that comfortable in this place. With a sigh, he turned away from the other kitsune. "Stop being lazy, you piece of shit. You can rest when we're back at camp." With that, he casually tossed the cat back into the air.
The fork-tailed cat let out an indignant "YIP!" and then another puff of smoke later and the cat-eared young man was back and looking as tired as ever, though a touch more annoyed. "Ass..." Such language to be used against one's Lord!!
As it turned out, the blond didn't give the slightest of fucks. Instead, the tired cat was ignored in favor of turning his attention back to his bride-to-be. He listened on to what would be expected of them at this wedding, filing the information away as it was given to him. He did wonder if there were they were expected to write their own vows or if they would be provided with traditional ones. He really hoped it was the latter, it would be very difficult to write something appropriately romantic about someone he'd only just met. Then the other shoe dropped.
"A week?!" And there was that nasty temper of his again. "It took us an entire week just to get here, we can't just...!! Dammit!!" He snarled hands crackling in his frustration.
"Easy... It's not his fault..." Murmured the cat, placing a hand on the fuming blond's shoulder.
"I know it's not, but I want to repeat as little of this bullshit as possible if I can---" He snapped back, glaring daggers at his companion.
"He'll think you're blaming him." Shinsou pointed out blandly.
"I'm not---!" The kitsune stopped short, when he looked at the anxious mess that was his bride. Right... He didn't know him well yet. He took a deep breath then sighed it out. When he spoke again, he was clearly still angry, but calm. "Go on..." He listened to the last of the information offered then nodded, still struggling with himself. This was going to be tight... They needed to speed this shit along. With a final nod, he lead the way back to the shoji door and slid it open.
"Good. A fine example and design to follow will help speed this along I'm sure." He was surprised that the prince had the chance to look over and pick designs already. The truce had been called only days ago, after all. Why was he in such a rush to marry off his son...? His lips parted only to close again when the door slid open. As they entered, he looked the prince over for the first time and he seemed to note the reason to be rid of the poor prince almost immediately. Unlike Bakugou, however, he simply looked silently for a moment then turned those mismatched eyes to his Lord without a word on the matter. "I have sent Sero off to fetch Yaoyorozu and have requested an example of wedding attire be brought here. There are also designs to select from."
The blond kitsune looked to the other as he spoke and once again nodded, this time in silent approval. He paused for a beat then shifted them into high gear. "Ashido, Shinsou, stay with me, the rest of you head back. Make sure every soul is accounted for, alive or dead then lead everyone home, like death is at your heels. Prep the ceremony so we can get it over with as soon as I'm back so we don't overshoot our week-long window." Though he'd been clearly about to keep spitting orders, he was shockingly cut off.
"Kaminari is staying here."
The blond slowly met an equally fierce glare, the purple pair holding his gaze fearlessly. Despite his clear agitation, his words allowed for argument, "Explain yourself..." More correctly, he was giving him the chance to make a believable excuse for keeping the electric blond with them against his wishes. Bakugou wasn't stupid. He knew the cat was very protective of his mate, but he couldn't let something like that sway his opinion.
"If you're sending the others away, then you're leaving yourself vulnerable. Kaminari will help make sure that doesn't become an issue, my Lord..." Countered the cat, still holding his gaze.
The two glared for a moment longer before Katsuki finally turned away from him. "Fine, he stays, but the rest of you go. He growled out, looking over at the pair of oni, the red one indeed looking like he'd been about to protest before wilting and looking away. If nothing else, it spoke of their loyalty, though Katsuki knew the real reason Eijirou wanted to stay. Katsuki just couldn't handle the thought of what seeing him marry someone else twice might do to him. He leveled his attention back to Shouto then. "Go. Quick and clean like I know you can."
The two toned kitsune bowed his head without a word then bowed once again to the Midoriyas. "If you'll excuse us, there is much work to be done. It was an honor to meet you." With that, the group took their leave, some more anxiously than others, though no more protests followed.
With that he was turning his full attention back to Hizashi, standing as proudly as ever. "Your son has explained things to me. A wedding should be a sentimental affair, but as I'm so far from home, it's difficult for me to link anything close to my heart to it. Izuku has told me of a suitable location with sentimental value to him. I want to have the ceremony and feast there, if possible. What was the name of the hill again?" He asked, looking over to the younger kitsune for his answer.
Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
"R-right-- my father would be hostile if he ever found out...." Izuku murmured softly, before chewing at his lip anxiously. Poor thing did that a little too often. However, the tension was broken, albeit faintly, by the blonde tossing the feline back onto two feet, and for a moment he giggled faintly. It was heartwarming, honestly, seeing how friendly they were, despite being a lord and one of his entourage. Would he be allowed to be this friendly with those in Katsuki's group?
Alas, when Izuku had mentioned the time constraint, he hadn't expected the other to be so upset. He flinched when he saw the crackling light in the others palms, his ears laying flat as he took a few quick steps back, eyes wide with fear, skin as pale as a ghost. He was grateful to Shinso for reining Katsuki back to a more calm state, but he was still no less anxious, his stomach knotting up. A nagging fear kept gnawing in the back of his mind, one that he hoped he would have been able to avoid. He didn't want to be hurt like he had been by his father and those under his power all over again in a place far from home, as broken as it was.
Izuku followed the feline and his husband to be back into the main throne room, and saw the rest of the other's group for the first time. They all seemed.... mismatched, yet fit perfectly all the same. It was perplexing, but they all seemed like good people, at least. However, he didn't miss how the two-toned fox had glanced him over, and he shrunk in on himself, his tails tucking behind his body as best they could be hidden. While nothing was said, he knew well the other understood why this marriage was happening at all.
He was a defective, single heir to a throne that would never be his.
He listened as Katsuki began to bark orders, and he quietly lowered his head. What did he have ti do for Katsuki's ceremony? Was there a time constraint as well? He glanced to the blonde as Shinso so boldly interjected, insisting another remain behind while the rest left. He saw how some seemed uneasy even after the civil arguments were made, but the red oni of the group seemed even more agitated for his own reasons, almost like a puppy being told to leave even though he'd done nothing wrong. Were they close? Izuku didn't want to risk making the tension worse by asking, not right now, at least. Hopefully with time, Katsuki will explain the situation? Izuku watched as the others left, anxiety and suspense filling his heart.
What was waiting for him in the other's kingdom? Was there some equally grand ceremony he had to partake in with Katsuki?
When Katsuki addressed his father, Izuku lowered his head again, his lips a thin line. He wasn't to speak when his father was addressing guests, not unless he was addressed, and even then, he had to make it short and to the point. However, when Katsuki included him in the conversation, having remembered what he had requested, his cheeks took on a more healthy color, even as Hizashi shot a subtly menacing glance his way, if for only a moment. "A-ahhh, I-I dont know the name--" he admitted, before looking to his mother, who had a soft, knowing smile on her face. "You want to be wed on Tsukihana Hill? The large wisteria will be in bloom for a good two weeks-- it'll be a gorgeous ceremony." Izuku relaxed somewhat at her answer, grateful for her help and praise. Hizashi then cleared his throat, causing Izuku to lower his head once more, but with a little less stress this time. "That's allowable. As for the feast arrangements, do you have any preferences for the courses?" He asked, looking only at Katsuki as if he were the only one of importance in that room. Inko looked to her son with quietly sad, yet hopeful eyes. Maybe Izuku will be happier with this lord, at least happier than he would be if he were to suffer his father another day longer than desired?

He didn't like the obvious fear radiating off the greenette, though he seemed to perk up a bit when addressed. Wisteria? That would be beautiful... They weren't so lucky back home, only the hardiest trees survived there and that didn't include such a pretty tree. The conversation didn't linger long once it was confirmed that the location was useable. He turned his attention back to Hizashi only to promptly look right back at his son again. "I like spicy food, but make sure that's not all there is."
"Oh thank goodness..." Huffed the electric blond, the pink oni giggling at the huffed exclamation. The kitsune on the other hand chose to ignore him.
"Something sweet for desert would be good too." He went on, promptly ignoring the excited gasp and squee from the pink oni. "So. What we having?" He demanded, rubies locked with his betrothed's emeralds. "I told you, you're picking everything." He reminded right in front of the royal pair. It seemed that Todoroki knew his lord well and had been right to warn Hizashi that Izuku would have control of the marriage. He was doing this in part because he didn't know their culture and so wouldn't be well suited to make these choices. At the same time, it was a not so subtle statement. Regardless of how Hizashi felt about it, marrying away his son would get rid of him, yes, but it was also putting him in a position of power. Bakugou was already making it clear that his son would have exactly that. Power.
The three of his group that remained drew up closer then, Kaminari taking his place at Bakugou's side, Shinsou next to him, and Mina coming around to stand next to Izuku instead. The female oni smiled brightly to him, her strange gold on black eyes eerie or even scary till you got used to them. It was a strange mix as she both looked and acted rather cute and certainly friendly. "What color are the wisteria? The pink and purple ones are my favorite." She whispered to him, though she wasn't being particularly quiet about it...
If it weren't bad enough that he repeatedly addressed the unwanted son rather than the lord directly, he was now doing the same with little more than a servant. "We depart as soon as the wedding feast is over. Be ready to depart by then." The tone made it rather clear that they would leave without him if he wasn't prepared to go. "Alternatively, my army marches now. If you are quick, you may leave with them. Whatever suits you better, it doesn't matter to me."

Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
Izuku was surprised as Katsuki addressed him so boldly in front of his father yet again, and he swallowed softly, feeling the daggers of his father's gaze boring into his very being. "I-I really like savory pork katsudon-- and d-dumplings, too...." he answered with a small smile, though he did feel a bit nervous as the pink oni came close to his open side, and he couldn't tell if he was being boxed in subtly, or an attempt was being made at protecting him from his father's glares. Regardless, despite his unease, it felt like he wasn't as exposed to his father's cruelty in that moment.
"I-I also really like hot pots-- we have access to good seafood, and for desserts, there's so many it's hard to choose!" The greenette laughed nervously, fiddling with his sleeves again. Having the ability to choose made everything feel so strange to the poor, undesirable heir, but.... He was growing to like it, even if he wasn't planning on showing it. After all, unless arrangements were made, he'd remain in that palace until he was sent away with Katsuki-- gods above have mercy between now and then.
However, when the oni spoke to him, he jumped a bit, startled by her boldness in speaking with him. "Th-theyre a cold but soft purple-- they-they look prettiest under starlight and a full moon!!" He replied anxiously, unsure of how to feel about the girl yet. After all, he was rarely addressed unless it was only for formality. And the best part is that the branches almost reach all the way to the ground-- it's like walking behind a veil, separating yourself from the harshness outside." He added, before paling as Hizashi had given him a more dangerous glare, feeling his very soul be suffocated. He lowered his head quickly, and tried to keep his breathing even.
His father really was mad, and he hadn't been stepping out of line, was he?
However, as Katsuki addressed what remained of his group, he was reminded of the other reason they were to be wed, and his blood ran cold. Right-- there were many, many casualties on both sides, and Katsuki's men were surely tired. Izuju glanced to his fiancee and his allies, wondering what their plan was. If he could choose, he wanted to leave, too. He doubted he would be able to, though. His mother had no idea, no true idea of how cruel his father could be. The worst of it was that he couldn't remember a thing-- or, maybe that he couldn't remember because he didn't want to. And regardless, there was never any evidence left behind-- only a child that slides further and further into himself, for fear of further harm. And yet, he'd feel bruised, even if there were no marks left behind.
But, he wouldn't have to worry about that with Katsuki.... Right?
Tokoyami looked to his charge with seemingly unfeeling eyes, before shaking his head softly. "I will travel with you all when the feast is over-- it's my duty to protect the heir, and I cannot do so if I'm separated from him." He replied, before looking back to his master. "However.... I'm sure to help build relations before the wedding, may I be bold to suggest the two of you staying close to one another? We have a guest room not far from the heir's-- I'm sure it would be a relief to know you would be close." Hizashi shot a glance Tokoyami's way then, eyes faintly squinting for only a moment. Perhaps taking in the bird was a bad idea on his part. Unfortunately, he cant clip him.... yet.

Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
Katsudon and dumplings? Such homely choices... Still, if that's what he wanted, then that's what they would have. He also noted that no spice food had been put forward, but didn't complain. They could have some when they repeated the whole thing back home. Would be nicer there to stave off the cold as winter was starting to creep in closer and closer. If this had dragged on another month, getting back home might be tricky at best... He listened on, caught between amused and infuriated by the clear nervousness the one tailed fox was displaying. He was far from pleased that he felt this uncomfortable. Leave it to Mina to break some of the tension, intentional or no. In this case, probably not.
"That sounds so pretty! I can't wait to see! Can we have Sakura mochi?" She gasped as another idea hit her, "Or strawberry daifuku?" She whispered loudly. She... Wasn't the sharpest knife it seemed... All the same, it reaffirmed the almost casual way his inner circle behaved with each other. While they had all been respectful of the royals before them with Katsuki and Shouto being the only ones to push those limits, they were much more casual with each other. Apparently Izuku was already being brought into the fold and they weren't even officially married yet.
"Oi. It's not your wedding." Chided the sandy blond lazily.
"How often do we get the chance to get at fresh berries like this? Let me have this...!" The pink girl hissed right back with a pout.
"Strawberries aren't berries. And still not your wedding... And not up to me." He pointed out, leaving Izuku to deal with the girl at his side. Instead, he turned his attention back to his father. He took a diagonal step forward, bodily putting himself between them, three of his tails remaining on one side of the greenette while the other two came around to rest at his other side. As if on cue, Shinsou left his own blond's side and instead saddled up behind the prince, offering a sleepy cat-like smile to him. Kaminari in turn scooted over to take up Bakugou's previous spot and stand to his other side, effectively boxing the prince in. Katsuki was apparently done with subtlety. Despite this, he didn't speak his displeasure. Not that he needed to after that...
Ruby eyes drifted back over to the tengu as his offer was taken and his preference offered along side a suggestion. Interesting... He seriously doubted the crow actually had the right to offer what he was suggesting. While his own group clearly had no issues voicing their opinions, it was clear the structure wasn't nearly as friendly here. He was sticking his neck out pretty far for his friend. He tucked that bit of information away. He had mixed feelings about this arrangement... He had precious little time to spend with his lover before they would be forced to part till he got back home, but he hadn't missed the unspoken warning. 'Don't leave him alone'. He'd compromise... "We will stay in the guest room. Once we're done here, I'll have to return to my people, but I'll be back tonight." He looked over his shoulder then. "You three stay with him."
While Shinsou was quick to give a soft nod, Denki was visibly confused by the order and Mina pouting a bit again. She'd been hoping that she would get to say a proper goodbye before the army took off. Still, she, like Denki, wasn't about to question the order. He must be making it for a reason and they didn't need to understand right off. Things would be clear soon surely.

Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
"A-ahh-- but!! The meal could have more spices to them-- it would be easy to do, right? Especially with the hot pots!!" He looked to Katsuki, having realized that he may have made a blunder because he had forgotten. "That way everyone could be happy, right?" He asked, though his father was still simmering under his facade. When the oni began to suggest various treats, he blinked, before smiling softly, "Those all sound good, actually!! It's been a while since I've had either.... and now that I think about it, we have so much fruit in season-- having fruit bowls would be delicious, too!! And tamer on the tongue than pure sweets!" Izuku looked to Katsuki again, having a feeling the other would appreciate that. "Are there any you'd really like to try?"
However, the smaller fox was surprised as Katsuki made himself a barrier between the greenette and his father, with the rest of his group responding in kind. Deep down, it lifted a weight off if his heart, though his soul was still meek, fearful of how his father will react behind closed doors. Or, at worst, find some way to hurt these kinder people without any retaliation. All the same, seeing Katsuki's gorgeous tails up close, making a soft, safe little wall around him made his face warm up far more than it really should have. It felt.... Nice. It felt nice to be protected, especially by a man he hardly knew. Though, his own meager, singular tail remained hidden, shameful in its lacking. Hizashi's tails' fur bristled at the bold display, but he made no comment, all while Izuku's poor mother looked deeply concerned, but couldn't speak out herself.
Clearly, this man wasn't only cruel to his son.
Tokoyami surely had stretched his neck too far, and so closely to the chopping block, at that, but he could hardly care. After all, he owed Izuku so much for his kindness, had already vowed an oath to protect his charge however he could, even if it meant his life. Though, he was sorely limited-- while he had tried to lay failsafes upon his master, whenever he would go to his father with a lowered head and tails tucked so far they covered his front, he never dropped the bell given to him. He bore so much pain, and was too scared to confide in the tengu, despite his best efforts to express his willingness to take whatever may come. But, alas, Izuku treasured his feathered friends too much-- he couldn't risk losing them, one way or another.
Thankfully, Hizashi had no objections, even if he was still fairly displeased. With an audience, doling out his punishment for Izuku's missteps would be tricky.
"That's good to hear. By the time you return, fresh bedding will be laid out, and if you so choose, Izuku's room and yours open towards another garden, though it has a larger pond." Tokoyami replied, hoping his silent suggestion didn't fall on deaf ears. "And no other doors lead to it, allowing the two of you to converse before you take respite." Izuku was quietly grateful for his guard and friend, and gently rolled the bell almost silently in his palm, though the tengu relaxed enough to be faintly visible at the sound. It may be concerning how these two have such subtle yet understandable signals for each other, seemingly with Hizashi out of the loop. "With our highnesses' permission, may I lead my master and our guests to their rooms?" Hizashi nodded with a faint huff, and Inko nodded more gently, though her eyes expressed they should be quick. "We will have refreshments brought in as well. There is still daylight, and I'm sure Lord Bakugo has much to attend to before his men are off." Tokoyami nodded, before looking to Katsuki once more, a silent gratitude in those dark eyes of his. He was loyal to a fault, but only for the anxious heir.

Re: The grump, the sheep, and the scaly idiot. [KiriBaku x Deku]
Ah, so he remembered. Still, he wasn't particularly pleased with the absolute panic it was accompanied with. It was like he knew he would be punished for any misstep. "I don't have to eat spicey things. I eat other things too. If you want something spicy, maybe Spicy Pork and Seafood Nabe." He suggested, keeping his voice even and minding his volume. He didn't want to spook him any further. When pressed for a fruit, he thought for a moment. "Kinkan if you have them, if not, Kakai." Kinkan? Really? Those were only grown on the island of Kyushu... Tall order. At least Kaki are easy to come by. He'd also pointedly picked fruit that he knew were in season which was considerate.
At this point, his patience was wearing thin and it showed, the blond kitsune openly glaring at the greenette before him. "You need not concern yourself with what you've thrown away. Unless you're suggesting you'd like to back out of the agreement you seemed so eager to offer, I am happy with what is mine and what is mine is also none of your concern." While Hizashi seemed keen on keeping up airs, Katsuki was quite done with pleasantries. "Is there anything else left to discuss? If not, I'd like to see where we'll be staying. I'll be sure any details about the wedding are promptly relayed and I trust the arrangements will be made as soon as possible."
Just as he was about to turn his attention back to Tokoyami again, Sero made his reappearance with a very confused and beautiful young woman at his side. The poor young man was incredibly out of breath too. "Oi... Army's heading back ahead of us, you should join them. Take your time heading back though, don't kill yourself." Lightly chided the blond, the long man looking both confused and exhausted. Still, he nodded without further question and, but for a moment simply rested his hands on his knees to catch his breath.
The new visitor came closer and bowed very politely but there was still one glaring problem with her, pretty and well mannered as she seemed. The clothes she was wearing were similar in style to what her companions wore, but she was showing significantly more skin. "You wished to see me, Bakugou-sama?"
"Mm. We'll need your services, you'll be staying with us." He explained simply.
The absolutely lovely girl bowed first to him then to Izuku. "It's a pleasure to meet you." So very polite indeed! How had she ended up in Bakugou's service...? And what services exactly was she providing dressed like like that?!
