She never knew what she did for her humans to abandon her, trap her in such a strange, scary place. Everything was so, so big, and it was hard enough to scale the heights her siblings could on her own. She was just so, so small, and no matter how hard she tried, she could never get enough food from her mother to grow like her siblings had. They weren't cruel, just.... Just as hungry as she was, and she was never fast enough to get the food she needed to grow. Her small limbs were her greatest hindrance in this.
Everything had been okay-- sure, she was small, and hungry, and cried out to try to remedy it, but that was normal, right? She couldn't help but cry-- she was small, and hungry. Human babies did it too, didn't they?
.... But, apparently it wasn't.
One day, she was put in the carrier alone-- she had her siblings last time, and it was so scary being alone during the car ride while insode the crate. Where were they going? Why was she alone? Why were her humans quiet? Why did they ignore her cries? She wanted out-- something didnt feel right--
She was so, so scared....
When the car finally stopped, they were in the woods-- the trees so tall, and dark-- with a dilapidated barbed wire fence nearby, and her humans had begun walking in, towards the fence, leash and her carrier in hand. She was so confused when they put the leash on her wrong-- she didn't have a collar, so they made a loop with her leash after tying the thin but sturdy fabric to the rotting wood. After she was set, her humans began to walk away, never looking back despite her cries-- despite how she tried to follow, only for the leash to keep her trapped, slowly strangling her.
She cried long after the car had left her there, cried herself to sleep after curling up in a nearby bucket. She cried out the next day because she was hungry, scared and alone, but no one came.
No one came back for her, and she didn't know what she did wrong. What did she do to make her humans leave her in this horrible place?
Three days had passed, and it was a miracle nothing came by to eat her, and that the rain the night before gave her a puddle to drink from, even if it wasn't food, and it wasn't clean. She was desperate-- she didn't want to die here, she wanted to live...
Two more days passed, and she couldn't drink anymore. She felt sick, and in her attempt to free herself, she managed to hook the leash in her mouth, hurting her terribly, tearing into her cheeks when she used the last of her strength to struggle, only to become unable to even drink. Her fur was matted, damp and crusty in different places, and she was so, so thin and frail. She wanted to go home....
She wanted to know why her humans didn't love her.
