There were... a lot of names to remember. Kurt knew he wasn't going to do too well with them all. He solidly remembered Bobby and Logan. That was about it. He was worried, but he tried not to let it show. He went over to sit on the bed, yawning a little. He hoped he recovered quickly. The fatigue was getting to him and he knew it would be for a while. He had been left out in the elements like this before and it took him weeks to be working at 100% again.
"Thank you." He said, sure that he was repeating himself, "If this is real, thank you." He tried not to doubt, but it was hard.
-----
"It's real alright, hard as it can be to believe. You'll see for yourself tonight. We'll be gettin' there pretty late though so ya won't have ta deal with many people when we get there. All the young kids will be in bed for sure. Probably will only get ta see staff an' some of the older ones like you. Hank will probably want ta have a look at ya. Dr. Hank McCoy. He's the big blue guy I told ya about. He's the resident doctor."
Standing himself up, he gathered the trash and unfinished food, throwing away the former and putting the latter in the little fridge in the room for later, should Kurt want some more. " Ya look beat. You're allowed ta take a nap, kid. Best get a little shut-eye in now. Would say you can sleep on the flight over, which ya can, but I doubt you'll be able to relax enough for that, one way or another. You'll be in a jet for three hours with at least four of us. Six at most. Lots of new people to have to be in a cramped space with," he warned gently, already anticipating one of the hiccups they might be running into soon.
-----
Kurt didn't think that he could sleep. He was just over the threshold of barely trusting Logan. That, and he was feeling a little jittery, unbeknownst to him from the cup of coffee that he had never had before. It had hardly been an hour or since he had drank it. Exhaustion tugged at him, but it wasn't the kind the he thought sleeping could help. There were just so many new things so quickly, so much to think about, so much that was still up in the air and the gravity of the idea that maybe he hadn't made the right choice. The suspense of not knowing just made the anxiety worse. He felt like he could use six more beers to take the edge of it off.
"I do not think I can sleep." Kurt admitted, "There is too much thoughts. My mind is tired more than my body." The bed was soft, and he had a full stomach and relative safety, but he still didn't think he could sleep with someone else there. There was too much risk to it. Maybe he could sleep with sedation, but that sounded like an even worse idea. "The jet will not be a problem. I am know flying."
-----
If you're sure, kid. Offer stands open if ya want it. We got a few hours to kill either way. Ain't much to do here till then... We can watch a movie or somethin'..." Shit. He was grasping at straws, but what else could they possibly do till the jet got there? Not like he had parents to convince into letting him come with them or something. Hell, he wasn't even sure what sort of movies the boy would like, assuming he'd gotten the chance to see any at all. It sounded like he'd had it rough for most of his life so who knew.
"Or..." He hesitated a little as this wasn't exactly his field, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to offer. "We could give you a headstart. I am a teacher, believe it or not. Normally don't teach the academic stuff, but I'm sure I could manage the basics." He felt like he was grasping at straws at this point and if both of the options failed, he wasn't entirely sure he could think of anything else to suggest. Maybe he was just too used to the teenagers at home that always needed to be in a constant state of entertained.
-----
Kurt liked movies well enough, but wouldn't have able to name a title if his own life was on the line. Yet, he was about to agree to the proposal out of a want to diffuse a potential frustration before it even surfaced, when the much more agatizing alternative was set in front of him. There wasn't much that he could learn in only a few hours- but something would have to be better than nothing. Kurt was well acquainted to sitting quietly with his thoughts for hours and hours and hours at a time, so doing nothing at all wouldn't have exactly bothered him, but learning sounded endlessly better than stewing for the rest of the morning.
"I would be happy to learn." Kurt said, a sweet smile twitching at the corner of his mouth, "I am sorry, but I only know how to read. I know no other school things." Then again, he could do very basic math, and had all the knowledge and skills that people just learned over time, but while he could tell a circle from a square, he couldn't quite tell someone the difference between a noun and a verb.

He wanted to learn? Well, that was a good sign. Plenty of kids didn't want to go to class so the fact he actually wanted to put in the effort to learn, even when something like a grade wasn't there to motivate him, was a great sign. "Studying it is. Don't got any books on me, but we should be able to find some basic stuff on the internet." With that he sat to work on the laptop to find them something to work with. Thankfully, finding flash cards based study tools for early learning wasn't hard.
"Alright... This site has stuff for English, math, and science. Which of those do you wanna start with? There's a bunch of levels so we can start at the bottom and skip up levels till we figure out where you're at." He offered, coming over to the bed to get up onto it and sit cross legged. This brought him rather close to the kid, but he pointedly put the laptop between them so they could both see the screen, but also weren't right next to each other either.
