"Yeah! I'll text it to you in a sec, you remember where everything is better than I do." He smiled as the greenette looked up at him, having noticed he was lost in thought before. He always felt a little bad interrupting his thoughts, but Izuku needed grounding sometimes so he tried to be subtle and gentle whenever he had to bring him back to reality, at least when he could get away with it. "I'll add ingredients for whatever else we make so we can get it all at once." He honestly felt guilty about not wanting to make katsudon for the greenette, but katsudon pretty much-involved cooking twice as it was pretty much two dishes combined into one. He'd make it up to him later. He couldn't say he was surprised that Izuku wasn't putting forward a suggestion for what they ate as well though. He was such a people pleaser he didn't usually put forward his opinion unless it was important.
"Aww! Thanks, man! I've worked pretty hard to not be bad. I know Katsuki cooks whenever he's over, but I gotta watch my diet, ya know? I guess the easiest thing would just to make extra with half of it spicey and half of it not, then we can pick which we want and how much. We'll have extra for later that way too!" They were pressed for time so best not to complicate things. They could treat themselves to food they liked another time. As such, he simply adjusted a couple of things to make up for the extra volume before texting what they needed to Midoriya's phone. He knew they had some of this stuff so he only included what they were missing. "There! Now we just gotta get everything real quick and get to cooking!"
He fell into step with the greenette then as they hurried along to get everything they would need, pausing when a box of mix was presented to him. Chilli powder? In brownies? That sounded gro---Wait. He gasped dramatically as his mind put it together. "Like Mexican hot chocolate!! That's genius! I'm sure he'll love that! I'm sure there has to be a recipe somewhere, I'll look one up!" Excitedly he continued to follow and, sure enough, Midoriya was far from the only one to have come up with the idea. He even found one that was specifically made using brownie mix! Once they had everything they needed, it was time to pay then hurry back home.
A part of him hated that they were already done... He'd been looking forward to the little outing, but they were in such a rush they really didn't have enough time to enjoy each other's company. Oh well... maybe another time. For now, it was time to start cooking! He fluffed the rice as it had dinged while they were away, washed his hands, then set to preparing the flank steaks. He cutting them thicker than you were supposed to, but he intended on cooking them a little more like mini-steaks than the thinly sliced things usually used in this dish. He also made sure to separate the slices into two so that he wouldn't accidentally make too much of it spicy.

Re: Star Crossed [Kiri/Baku x Deku][World of Darkness AU]
He smiled brightly while he rocking on his heels slightly as he watched Kirishima add to the list of ingredients. The shy man could not help but imagine what it would be like to walk through the aisle of the grocery with Kirishima’s hand in his… how he would laugh at the other’s jokes, or blush at intimate suggestions for meals later on that week… he could not help but wonder if that was something Kirishima and Kacchan did when they were alone. Kacchan never seemed like the PDA type, but the idea still made Izuku’s stomach fill with jealousy. He shook the thoughts out of his head, Kacchan and Kirishima were his good friends, he needed to stop with this childish nonsense!
Izuku tried to hide the faint dust of pink on his cheeks at the mention of Kirishima’s diet… he knew what that meant. Kirishima had an incredible body, one that the greenette enjoyed peeking at every time the other was in a muscle tank or even shirtless—which was quite often. “Right! Y-yeah, you’ve always been good about watching your… uh, figure..” he said shyly, looking down at his own physique. He was not out of shape by any means, and he had some muscle definition but he was all around a short male and had no where near the broad frame of Kirishima. Suddenly he felt so embarrassed for having mentioned Kirishima’s body, was that rude? It had to be rude to mention another person’s body, that was something you weren’t supposed to talk about, right? And now he had mentioned it… oh no, had he mentioned Kirishima’s body before as well? He couldn’t quite remember, but what if he had? What if he ever does get the nerve to tell Kirishima how he feels and the faux redhead thinks it’s only because of his body? Wait, but no, Izuku would never tell the other, so this won’t even happy and be a problem… he jumped slightly as his internal rant was interrupted by the ping of his phone alerting him to Kirishima’s text. He scrambled to grab it out of his pocket to check the list. “A-alright, this way…” he said softly, leading them to the first necessary aisle.
“Exactly like that!” He smiled happy to have suggested something that the other also seemed happy about. He lead them through the remaining aisles, grabbing what they needed as Kirishima scrolled through his phone, no doubt looking up a recipe. Once finished, he brought them to the check out counter where he emptied the basket and took out his wallet to pay for the ingredients they had picked out. He was ready to hurry back home and cook for Kacchan… he really enjoyed doing things for his two favorite people.
Izuku was a bit disappointed when they arrived home, despite his excitement, because this means it was closer to the time Kacchan would arrive and Izuku would go back to being the third wheel. He let out a small defeated sigh, put on a brave smile, and happily assisted Kirishima in any way that he could. He watched curiously as Kirishima cut the steaks a bit thicker than he was used to seeing, he cocked his head to the side slightly and questioned the other. “Kirishima-kun, why did you cut the steak that way?” His eyes big with wonder. There was clearly a good reason for doing so and he wanted to know for the next time he cooked dinner by himself for the others.

Re: Star Crossed [Kiri/Baku x Deku][World of Darkness AU]
"Heh, yeah. It's a lot of hard work, but it's paid off. Can't slack though or you start losing a lot of it, ya know?" He noticed the way the other looked down at himself and picked right up on the issue. "Hey, man, you don't gotta be as fit as I am. I do it for my job! No one will hire a personal trainer that doesn't look like this or at least close to it. You look good! If you really want to step it up though, you can come with me to the gym. Obviously, you wouldn't have to match me in my workouts, but I could help you. For free too, not gonna charge my friends for a favor." Well, at the very least, Eijirou didn't seem at all offended at the attention his body was getting him and if anything he was very flattered.
And so, the shopping list updated, they were off! It didn't go exactly as he'd hoped, though that wasn't surprising. It was silly to view the trip as their last chance to spend time together when they had to rush to get everything they needed. They talked and laughed together as they got everything they needed, but it was over far, far too soon... It hurt, but maybe that was for the better. He was getting too attached to something he didn't have, nor could he have. It was stupid and hurt more than it should.
They carried the groceries between the two of them and as soon as they got inside, Ei was toeing off his shoes and making his way into the kitchen. No time to waste, particularly as they had added a dish they hadn't originally been intending on making. He was so focused on what he was doing that he unintentionally forgot he wasn't alone. Stupid... They had so little time left, he should be paying better attention. His cheeks flushed as he was called out for the thickness of his cuts, but that didn't change his behavior. "Because I'm selfish." He explained simply. It was no secret that Kirishima was very fond of his meat, steak in particular. Apparently, the little impromptu change was because of that fondness. Thicker-cut beef could be cooked to different finishes more easily if it was thick.
"Why don't you work on the brownies? That should speed things up some. I'll text it to you." He pointed out, in part because it was true and in part because he hoped to get the attention off the way he tweaked their dinner a little. He couldn't quite get to his phone right at that moment, but as soon as he was done cutting and splitting up the steak, he wiped off his hands and grabbed his phone. Not long after, Midoriya would, sure enough, get a text. He was then washing his hands and getting back to work on their dinner. "I feel bad rushing, but I want to make sure everything's done before he gets here and tries to take over. You know him."

Izuku nodded happily at the reassurance and validation he received from the other. "That would be fun! M-maybe we can set something up? I've been a bit busy lately but I can make time." the greenette was positively radiant with the idea that him and Kirishima would be spending some time together by going to the gym. Well, that is if Kacchan didn't tag along. The blond was fit and had his own routine, sure, but the greenette wasn't certain if he would give up an opportunity to workout with his boyfriend.
When they got back to the apartment, Kirishima was quick to take his shoes off and begin cooking. Perhaps the other was in a rush, pressed for time as the blond would be there soon, so Izuku just stood off to the side watching. He tried to think of what he could do to help but he was at a loss, instead he just watched taking in the alone time with his crush. He tilted his head curiously as Kirishima blamed his selfishness on the reason he was cutting the steak thicker, but Izuku decided to just let it go. He didn't want to engage in any conversation that might distract the other and make their meal late for Kacchan.
Izuku snapped out of thought as Kirishima spoke, feeling a bit guilty that he did not think of this himself. Sometimes the greenette could be rather useless. "R-right! Yeah, I'll do that..!" he moved to where he had put the brownie mix and started getting out a bowl and whisk, he didn't have the recipe yet but he was pretty sure he would need these tools. As soon as Kirishima finished cutting the meat, Izuku heard the chime of his own phone and took it out of his pocket to see the incoming text message containing the recipe. The greenette gathered the ingredients he needed, oil, water, eggs, Chile powder, cinnamon, chocolate chips and the brownie mix. He placed everything neatly on the counter away from where Kirishima was working as to not disturb the other. He began by whisking the oil, water, and eggs together. "It's okay, Kirishima-kun, we both know how Kacchan can be. This is a surprise for him after all." When Izuku was finished mixing the batter, he grabbed a pan to lay it out, making sure to spread a thin layer of butter so the brownies would not stick. The oven was preheated perfectly when the greenette added the pan of brownies and set the timer. "I hope Kacchan likes them... a-and you too! I know I probably will." he laughed shyly, rubbing the back of his neck. Izuku had been known to enjoy sweets quite frequently, which was probably the reason he was a bit self-conscious of his body. He hopped up on the counter away from where Kirishima worked, kicking his legs gently as he watched. "This will be one of our best dinners yet!" he said confidently.

Re: Star Crossed [Kiri/Baku x Deku][World of Darkness AU]
The faux redhead chuckled softly as the greenette grew flustered at the new instruction and set to work. Poor guy... He was so anxious all the time. Maybe someday he could get him to relax more. He honestly had while it was just the two of them, but it seemed anything to do with Katsuki was anxiety-inducing. He'd definitely have to work on that in the future. He cared about them both and he really wanted them to get along better. "Thanks, that'll help a lot!" He assured, hoping a little praise might settle his nerves a little, even if all he was doing was making slightly altered box brownies.
"Yeah... He really likes to take care of other people, even if he doesn't like to admit that's what it is." This was a half-truth... Bakugou was rather detailed obsessed and perfection had been drilled into him from a young age. Seeing something done in such a way that was short of perfection triggered his OCD real bad which was what generally resulted in him taking over out of frustration. Regardless once he'd gotten working alongside Izuku, they were well occupied in their own tasks, Kirishima starting to actually cook their dinner while Midoriya mixed their dessert. As he was using the stovetop, he sidestepped so the oven could be opened and the brownies put inside to back before stepping back in front of it to keep right on cooking.
"Yeah, I'm sure he'll 'not hate it'." He chuckled softly, knowing very well how hard it was for the blond to even express gratitude. He was so very independent... It was actually something they'd been working on, getting him to trust others to do things for him or at least with him. "Yeah! I'm sure it'll all be really good, even if Katsuki is a grump about it." With nothing else to really do, Midoriya kindly got out of the way and sat upon the counter rather than leaving the kitchen. That was nice... He enjoyed the company and it would be a little lonely to cook in here all on his own. Thankfully, the last of the cooking wasn't too time-consuming at all! It was one of the reasons he'd picked it, given their limited time. The brownies would actually take longer to bake than it would take him to finish dinner.
Sure enough, cooking all the little mini steaks he'd cut for them was the most time-consuming part as they were thicker and so cooked more slowly. The extra thickness, however, meant that he could easily cook the beef to it was medium rather than well done like it would have been if sliced thinner. He'd gotten quite good at judging the readiness of steaks thanks to his own fondness of them so he was quite comfortable with his alteration. As he'd cooked he'd set things aside on a communal plate which would be moved to the table later, but once he was done he wanted to serve up three plates just so it was all ready to go by the time Bakugou actually entered the apartment.
He was so caught up in what he was doing, however, that he didn't even think about what he did next. Midoriya had chosen to sit on a section of the counter that was in front of the plates he needed and so he'd simply walked right up to him and reached past him. Before he'd even opened the cupboard, he'd frozen, eyes wide as they were close enough that their noses almost bumped. For a moment he remained there, stalk still, looking into those gorgeous emerald eyes, his heart hammering away inside his chest. Scarlet eyes darted down to the lips so close to his own only to flit right back up to meet the freckled young man's. Against his better judgment, his eyes drifted closed as he tilted his head a bit, closing the last of the tiny distance between them and for the first time, pressing his lips to his friend's.

Re: Star Crossed [Kiri/Baku x Deku][World of Darkness AU]
Izuku nodded, the fluff of his green hair bouncing softly. “Kacchan is really sweet, deep, deep down.” He giggled. Izuku really did think Bakugou was the kindhearted caregiver type, he was just a little rough around the edges and for good reason, the greenette was aware of his upbringing. He was also aware that due to the expectations put on the blond from his parents, he often became frustrated when things weren’t perfect which lead him to doing it himself in order to rectify this. Izuku felt a little bad for his childhood friend, especially since the greenette seemed to mess up simple tasks a lot due to his lack of confidence. Something he was hoping to enhance through his time spent at University and with his mentor.
Izuku couldn’t help but giggle again as Kirishima spoke sweetly but accurately about the hot-headed blond. He was known to say things like, ‘Well, it’s not horrible.’ Or ‘I don’t hate it.’ as his way of complimenting those he cared for. The more Izuku thought about Kacchan’s behaviors in a more analytical sense, the more he realized how lucky Kirishima truly was and how the greenette could never even imagine being someone worthy of the faux redhead. “If Kacchan wasn’t a grump that would lead to concern.” He smiled bright, kicking his legs gently, his hands holding the edge of the counter as he watched Kirishima continue to cook. It was kind of sexy watching Kirishima work the kitchen… who was he kidding? It was really sexy watching him work. Many inappropriate thoughts of Kirishima wearing nothing but boxers as he cooked them dinner lead to even dirtier thoughts of the faux redhead railing him against the counter. A faint blush dusted his freckled cheeks as he shooed those thoughts away in an attempt to remain present in this moment.
What came next happened so quickly that Izuku couldn’t have stopped it even if he wanted to. Perhaps he made the mistake of sitting on the counter absentmindedly exactly where the plates that Kirishima needed would be. But it was too late for that. Now he was nose to nose with his crush, their lips just inches apart.. his eyes stuck on the garnet in front of him. His breath hitched, mouth parting slightly, the grip he had on the counter tightening with the rapid beating of his heart. He should move, he really needed to move, to get out of the way so that Kirishima could get to the plates and get everything set for Kacchan.. Kacchan who would be here any moment Izuku imagined. Yes, he needed to move but he just.. couldn’t, and not because he was literally crowded by the bigger male. His limbs wouldn’t move. Then it happened. Kirishima so sweetly tilted his head and pressed their lips together.
Electricity surged through the smaller male as their lips touched for the first time. Izuku’s body felt jelly-like instantly, heat pooling in his stomach as his body reacted childishly to the one thing he had wanted so badly. The deepening red blush burned his cheeks while his hand automatically reached to rest gently against his crush’s neck. He did his best to match Kirishima’s energy, keeping their kiss delicate and sweet but something in him was desperate for more.. for him. Izuku determined he would stay here forever if he could, he would never break away, he never wanted this to end.

Re: Star Crossed [Kiri/Baku x Deku][World of Darkness AU]
"He really is... Just don't tell him that." If only Katsuki wouldn't get so embarrassed when his kindness was pointed out. There was something truly sad about the fact he'd been conditioned into thinking that kindness and compassion were a weakness to be ashamed of... Still, over the years the blond had gotten much better about it, though it was still a work in progress. Sure, their relationship wasn't perfect, but he was worth the effort.
Oh. Oh, that giggle. It was like pure sunshine, that's not even fair! He couldn't help looking over to watch him for just a moment, cheeks a little pink as he looked back to mind his cooking again. He understood why there were issues between Izuku and Katsuki, but it was still hard to imagine. The green-haired young man was just so likable! Things between them were getting better too, but it was slow going. Izuku was easily the biggest source of frustration in his boyfriend so that was understandable, even if it was needless. "He's getting better. I doubt he'll ever be some wholesome cinnamon bun though. As sweet as that sounds, I don't know if I would like if he got like that. He's spicy even when he's nice and that's half the fun."
They were having such a good time together, getting ready to celebrate Bakugou's return, but everything took a very sudden turn and it was his fault. His heart raced as he felt soft lips gently press back against his. When he broke the kiss, they barely broke contact before he was pressing in again, slightly firmer this time. Then again, with a contented sound, each sweet little kiss fueled by the last. It wasn't long before the flood gates keeping his feelings at bay buckled, the faux redhead stepping up to slot himself between the other's legs, strong hands caressing over Izuku's hips only to travel up his back to hold him tight against him. His lips parted then, the tip of his tongue lightly tracing his lip to seek permission to enter.

"I wouldn't dream of it." Izuku wasn't brave enough to deliberately upset Kacchan, the results of his actions would be unpleasant if he did so to say the least. Izuku knew that Kacchan was a really good friend and even better boyfriend to Kirishima than he could ever be to the green-haired man. Izuku just wasn't the blond's cup of tea and he had to accept that.. unfortunately.
Izuku's smile darkened only slightly, of course Kirishima would like Kacchan's aggressive, dominant personality so why did it hurt so much to hear him say it so little words? Probably because Izuku knew he could never be like Kacchan which just meant that he could never impress Kirishima. Once again he tried to shake these thoughts away and pay attention to their conversation. He had no chance period, Kirishima and Kacchan were dating. He really needed to stop this childish nonsense. "H-he really is. I'm proud of how far Kacchan has come s-so far. Y-ou're...you're good for him." he admitted painfully, keeping his smile up as a facade.
A small gasp escaped his lungs when Kirishima broke their kiss only to press back firmer and more passionate than before. An invitation for intimacy presented to him with Kirishima's strong hands on his hips, that moved suddenly up his back, Izuku accepted arching his back nicely to press his pelvis against the other man with little worry. Without noticing, Izuku was moaning against his crushes lips, gently parting his to allow the faux-redhead entrance. His hands roaming up Kirishima's chest drinking in every dip and curve of his muscled physique. Izuku's mind clouded, drunk on the lust he had been repressing for so long he forgot all about his childhood friend.
